So myself and a friend are heading interailling this summer. We’re hitting a LOT of countries and are very interested in outdoor pursuits such as hiking, sailing, swimming, surfing etc.Our question is two-fold;Firstly what sort of bag should we bring? Our flights come with a 20kg check-in bag, so we are torn between a suitcase and small day hiking rugsack or a backpacking rugsack or a backpacking rugsack and a day hiking rugsack.Which makes the most sense in terms of getting about from train station to hostel etc. We don’t want to be lugging a suitcase around the city for hours but on the other hand we’re not sure if giving up some of the extra storage space is worth it.It may be worth noting we will be visiting a range of climates from med to germany in early early summer. Secondly what should we pack? Is there many opportunities to wash clothes, are there any other essentials etc. Lastly how have people found sleeper trains? How much should they cost? We can get seats with our reserv

Hello, we were planning on taking the Caledonian Sleeper from Edinburgh to London before travelling onwards to Strasbourg. The Sleeper leaves Edinbugh at 23.40pm but I understood that the travel day starts at 00.00 CET so I could enter train manually onto mobile pass as leaving at 00.40pm, avoiding using 2 travel days.I am now reading the rules changed as of January 2025 and now it is local time that counts. The information on the website still refers to pass running on CET but terms and conditions says use local time.I am very confused, can anyone help?
Because my wife can’t fly, we want to get the train from London to milan. Leave 31/8/25 and return 14/9/25. I’ve tried to look on the site but am struggling to find the options I want. I don’t know which type of pass I need for the trip. Needs to be a direct route as well, as we are going to tour Italy by car in between.
Hello,I would like to purchase a pass to travel this summer with my partner and her two children. We are planning to travel from Paris to Oslo. However, I have a few questions about reserving seats between Paris and Cologne and couchettes between Hamburg and Alvesta for the night train. How do I reserve seats between Paris and Cologne? Is this possible via the Interrail website? How do I reserve couchettes? On the SJ website? Is there a discount? How do I get discounts?Thank you for your help.

Hello! I will be traveling through Europe by train. I live in The Netherlands and will use my outbound journey to start my travels. i wanted to stay longer in my last destination and return with either bus or plane. Can I just use my inbound journey to visite another country or must I use it to return home? Thankyou so much!
Hi,I write because I start to fill nervous about the way I subscribed our global passes and how I reserved all trains for a long trip that should take place from 12 up until the 24th April (13 days). I would therefore be really thankful if any of you could tell me whether I did things correctly, or not. In case it is important... all steps were carried out from a PC. My mobile phone is 15 years old, too slow and does not work correctly with some applications. The phone just served for validation of bank security codes, and things like that. Here below, how I proceeded:First, I did a simulation on the Interrail website, which suggested that the pass I needed was a 7 days one. I subscribed (paid) one for me and my daughter (17 years old). However, 2 days later my wife decided herself up. I therefore got a second “independent” pass (of same kind).I then proceeded with reservations. I had many problems because I had to login once and once again to be able to validate each reservation, which
Hi! Do you need a seat reservations in Estonia with 2nd class pass? My railway planner- app says that seat reservations are required. But interrail.eu website tells opposite. The website says that I cant book seat with 2nd class pass in Estonia. I am travelling from Tallin to Kaunas.
We are hoping to travel from Trieste to Venice on 26.6.2025 at 10.35 to find "seat reservations are not available". Is it that we are too early? If so, when is the advice to next check? Or might it be that no reservations are required? Thanks".
My specific question is as follows:We want to reserve seats from our home town to Paris. We can reserve the seats on the Eurostar service but not yet (too early to book) for the home town to London part. Can we proceed with the Eurostar reservation then add the hometown journey when it is available to book or does this all need to be booked at the same time to count as the ‘outbound’ journey. Please help?
I'm planning a trip in Eurail app from Visp to Andermatt, following the schedule shown in the first screenshot. The train number is RE522.However, when I checked the timetable in the SBB app, it showed the schedule in the second screenshot, with the train number R43.I'm wondering if these are the same train. Is it okay to board R43 while I add my trip in the Eurail app as RE522? Thank you very much for your assistance.
Hi, first time posting and first time trying to plan European train travel other than Eurostar. We would like to find out how easy/difficult it would be to travel from London to Stockholm during November. Would be 1 adult, 1 youth, 1 senior passenger. How would we do it, how would we book tickets, what tickets etc. Any help very much gratefully appreciated
Dear community,we like to visit small towns off the beaten track. Are buses in Denmark included in the Interrail Global Pass? For example; • from Allborg to Hou Kirke If the buses aren't included, does anyone have a tip for us on how to use all public transport in Denmark most cost-effectively? Are there network tickets? Weekly tickets or similar? Another question: does a student ID card equal a Youth Card, which allows you to buy a child's ticket on local public transport? Thanks for your knowledge. Looking to travel to Europe in June. Possibly starting in Spain, through south france and ending in northern Italy. Trying to focus my trip on eurail routes, how do I ensure I am choosing the most efficient routes (ie. direct trains) with limited stops?
Hello, I’m buying an Interrail Global pass of 2 months in a row and I have two questions for my next trip. I’m Italian and I must return to Italy after the start of my journey for 1-2 day/s. I’m thinking to buy a separate ticket from Trenitalia to travel from Italy to Switzerland and use the remain days of global pass to travel. -Firstly, is my interrail still valid ( obviously outside my home country ) after I have used outbound/inbound days? and the second question is: -Can I use outbound/inbound days for two outbound ? For this second chance I could buy the separate ticket from Switzerland to Italy and I can use the second outbound to go in Switzerland again. For the return I’ll buy another ticket from Trenitalia.

Hey everyone! I'm planning my Interrail journey starting from Milan around July 20. My goal is to visit seven cities before flying back to Milan. So far, my plan includes Milan → Ljubljana → Prague → Krakow, but I still need to pick three more destinations. One idea I have is to continue with Vilnius → Tallinn → Helsinki, but I’m not sure if that’s the best choice. I’m looking for cities that are affordable, have great nightlife for young travelers, and offer a fun atmosphere.Do you have any recommendations for exciting and budget-friendly destinations? I'd love to hear your suggestions!
Hi,I am ready to book my first set of reservations for my sister and myself.I want to book us on a train from Paris to Lucerne in August. I did a search that said we should use Gare de Lyon in Paris.I went to buy the reservations but they only list Basel and they don’t mention Lucerne.Do the reservations just say the name of the first city and not the name of the second train when you change trains? Please help. I don’t want to buy these if I’m doing it wrong and find out my reservation doesn’t work for the second train.Should I book each leg of the trip separately? And, is okay to book all my reservations through the Eurail website here where I bought our Euraill passes. Here is the itinerary I am reserving. It's my first time in Europe. My family of 4 is traveling from Salzburg to Roma on April 13. The train leaves Salzburg at 8:56 goes to Woergl Hbf (seat recommended) from Woergl Hbf to Bologna Central (seat recommded), Bologna Central 16:37 to Roma Termini 18:40 (seat reservations required) and finally Roma Ostiense to Roma S. Pietro. Seeing this I bought the seat reservations from Bologna Central to Roma Termini. Does this mean that I automatically will be able to get on the other trains or is it possible we won't be allowed on the other trains if we don't have seat reservations. For example, I tried to get a seat reservation from Woergl Hbf to Roma Termini but I was unable to because it looked like the train was full. Does this mean that I won't be able to do that leg of the journey and if so do I have to find a different way to get to Bologna Central by 16:37
Hello, I’m scheduling a trip by train with my kids from Madrid to Milan with different stops (Valencia, Barcelona, Girona, Montpellier, Frejus, Sanremo, and Milan). We should leave Madrid on the 20th of April and be back in Milan on the 2nd May. I have to arrive in Frejus on the 27th April to attend a wedding the day after. I would like to know if someone did a similar trip, or if you have any recommendations counsciuos of the fact that we won’t spend too much time in each city (Barcelona apart). Thanks,Cecilia
Hi, my husband and I will be flying in to Prague and spending a few days there before heading to Vienna. After spending a few days in Vienna, we would want to go to Salzburg, Hallstatt and a few other places of interest in Austria. All by train. The business class train ticket from Prague to Vienna is EUR 153.60 per person. I have not checked the train fares from Vienna to Salzburg and onward to Hallstatt and eventually, back to Vienna to fly home. Here are my questions:-(1) If I were to buy the 1st class Eurail pass for both my husband and I, do I still need to go to OBB website to book seats from Prague to Vienna? I am planning to book the business class seats in Railjet train(2) What pass can I use within Prague and within Vienna? I understand that the Eurail pass is not the same as the Swiss Travel Pass; whereby, the latter can be used on all modes of transport within the country and within every canton(3) Can the Eurail pass be used to travel by train from Vienna to Bratislava to Pa
