Hey Eurail/Interrail Community,We have an exciting topic to discuss today: getting more people on trains instead of planes!🚆✈️ With all the talk about sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint, we know that trains can be a fantastic alternative to air travel. But how do we encourage more people to make the switch? Do you think partnerships between airlines and Eurail could be a nice benefit for our customers? And also, can it help promote rail to a new audience? Tell us your opinion in the comments 👇 Cheers,Eurail Community Moderator
Whether it’s a charming hidden gem or a grand architectural marvel, let us know in the comments which European train station you find the most beautiful! 🚉✨
Hi everyone! I'm Rachel, senior writer at Eurail 👋 I've been following the conversation about night trains here in the Community and thought I'd jump in and share a recent interview I conducted Tim Richards, a celebrated travel writer and night train enthusiast. Here’s a link to our conversation: https://www.interrail.eu/en/magazine/travel-stories/four-night-trainsIn our conversation, he offered some helpful tips for taking night trains, which got me thinking: what tips would you suggest for a first timer taking a night train?
For some routes, an additional seat reservation is required. Seat reservations are not included in your Eurail or Interrail Pass, but for a fee they guarantee you a comfy seat on busy routes across Europe. On most high-speed trains and all night trains, seat reservations are mandatory. For a fun set of instructions, check out our Instagram highlight, here. You can book most of your reservations through our Reservation Service. Visit this page for detailed and up to date information on how to book seat reservations per country. Another option is to book seat reservations directly with the rail carrier. Our community put together this handy guide on how to do that, here. Feel free to ask questions, but please be sure to start a new topic first.
Hi , I am planning to go interrailing for three months between march and june. I am still contemplating whether to get a suitcase or a backpack. What is the best option (for three months)? Thank you so much, David
Presently travelling; no “Move Pass” appears

Hello Forum and especially Support Team,I am in a severe emergency. My trip starts tomorrow night (Sunday).I purchased a Mobile Pass. An older version of the Rail Planner app is already installed, but I have an iPhone SE iOS 15.8.8 and when I try to open it to add my pass, it triggers a forced update screen and prevents me from accessing my pass. I cannot update the app due to iOS limitations, and I do not have access to another smartphone.I already submitted an official support ticket yesterday evening, but I have not received a reply yet. Thing is, had I known, I’d have bought regular train tickets. I’m travelling to France on relative short notice for the funeral of my aunt there. When I compared prices, Interrail was the cheaper option, so. And even I cancel the pass now - regular ticket prices have meanwhile GONE THROUGH THE ROOF and I can’t afford to buy those tickets. Really can’t. Help???This is my ticket number from the support request email: 1519055And could I please, please
I can not activate my day trip in DuscoverEU app and I'm travelling with that train in few hours. It says that something went wrong....please reply as soon as possible
I am writing to inquire about the seat reservation rules and validity of the Eurail France One Country Pass for cross-border TGV Lyria routes.Specifically, I am planning to travel from Basel (Basel SBB / Bâle SNCF) to Paris (Paris Gare de Lyon) on a direct TGV Lyria train. I checked the Rail Planner App, which indicates that the France One Country Pass is valid and supports seat reservations for the TGV Lyria segment from Basel to Mulhouse. Since the direct train from Basel to Paris travels through Mulhouse anyway, does this mean the pass fully covers the entire direct journey to Paris?Furthermore, I would like to know if this same logic applies to the TGV Lyria route between Paris and Geneva. As Geneva is also a border station, can I use the France One Country Pass to book a direct train (TGV Lyria) from Paris to Geneva?Thank you for your time and clarification.
Hello I would like to know where can I find the information that tells me how many times I have used my rail pass… Such as the activity? Thank you very much Marcia Pina
hello everyone, I won the interrail ticket via Discover EU and I began booking my trains. One journey goes from Paris to Valencia. Accidentally I booked the journey for the wrong date. I want to travel one day earlier. I also used two of my four credits to book the seat reservations. I’ve been researching on how to change the seat reservations but I couldn’t find any results so I wanted to ask wether someone knows how to change the date. thanks for your help!
Hi, my Interrail Global Pass starts next week on Tuesday morning. I wanted to check if everything is working and if I have any issues beforehand. It seems that I am apparently offline in the app. I can´t look at my pass I cant look at the Tickets or do anything. I have tried restarting my phone, switching wifi off and on I don´t know what else I can do to fix the problem. I am not able to deactivate my pass and move it to another device. I dont want to reinstall the app either, I had issues with that in the past, where in needed the support to unlock my pass for me to lock into my discovereu app.
Hi there,Does anyone know what days does the Leo express train operates from Poland/ Bohumín to Frankfurt Süd. I think the website states everyday. I am hoping to travel on the 31st of August from Krakow. This train existed on the Leo express website and then a few days ago it just disappeared. It is still listed on the SBB app. Also, does anyone know if it is possible to make an Interrail reservation in the couchette sleep cabin please? It does not work on the Leo express website when you apply the Interrail discount. It comes up as unavailable/ soldout. Would really appreciate someone's help. @rvdborgt @Sebastian Vetter
Anyone has suggestion for the best comfort route from Amsterdam to Bologna italy ? I also noticed a “bug” related to night trains in the trip planner from the App, when selecting night train option in the planner nothing shows if your itinerary has multiple legs and only one is with night trains . Seeing no options I booked for now daytime I am going via Munich, trying also chuchuu.com to verify train reliability as after one booking a timetable was different from the journey in the German train DB website and schedules!please provide options for my comeback from Bologna to Amsterdam, probably a night train would be better for me! tomorrow going viaAmsterdam → Duisburg HBf (ICE) → Munich HBf (RJ)→ Bologna centrale
Hello everyone,I'm planning a trip and I'll be using a global pass for my train travels. I've heard that it's possible to book tickets directly at train stations without having to pay for individual tickets, but rather using the pass. Can anyone share their experience with this process? How does it work, and are there any specific steps or tips I should know about when reserving tickets with a rail pass at the train stations? Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi,from 31 Jan 2023 NS the national operator in the Netherlands will have the possibility to travel with Credit Cards with the train only using the credit card as a ticket like tap and go in cities like London for the underground. If you are travelling with an Interrail or Eurail Pass than you have to stop on your phone the possibility to use NFC if you have a Credit or Debit Card on your smart phone, because the ticket barriers at the station will register your credit card and not the QR-Code of your mobile Interrail/Eurail Pass. Maybe the Eurail Team can do something that using the Rail Planner App the payment service is turn off like when using NS app. @Mukhammad Mostly this problem will have iPhone users. Hi all,I have adventured without flying with my family for many years but this is my first time planning a trip using an Interrail pass. We’re planning a trip to Morocco next summer. If I can combine outward / inward train travel in the UK with the Eurostar it should come out as more economical then buying advanced tickets, but only if I can work out the reservations in Southern Spain! And this is where I am coming unstuck...I want to travel Barcelona - Málaga outwards, then either return the same way or go Málaga - Madrid - Avignon in July / August next year (yes, I really like advanced planning!!). I am using Rail Europe to check reservation prices and to get an idea of likely availabilty of reservations. Trouble is, if I request three or four reservations at once there are none available no matter how far in advance I ask to book. But if I ask for two, reservations are possible on many trains with only a week or two notice. Are there really only two pass holder reservations available
I found the advice to contact interrail when my reservation email did not come. ybut how?? no phone number, not even an email adress.
Hello when i am looking at my reservations i cant find the local trains connecting me too the bigger stations, i saw them when i booked but not when i look at it now.
Hello,I booked some seat reservations for me and my partner via the interrail website by adding us with our passes to a trip I created. In the Rail Planner App only I can see the Trip and more importantly the reservations in my account, she has no possibility to view or show the tickets on her phone.Am I missing something so we can view the reservations both or is this just bad design? Any help would be appreciated
First time at doing this so sorry for being clueless. Am planning a trip as follows:Preston (Lancs) - London - Paris - Lyon - Nantes - Paris - London - Preston (Lancs). Question 1: Are the trains from Preston to London (and reverse) part of the days we can travel?Question 2: How many days of travel would we need to complete the French train journeys? Thank you
Hi there, we have 2 passes one on each phone for our upcoming trip. I have planned out all 5 days, with reservations on my phone. We have a 5 day pass, being used over 14 days. I have activated the pass and fixed all 5 travel days. I now want to share the trip so my husband has his on his phone. Its the same exact trip for both of us.If I share using WhatsApp or email, what does he need to do when he receives it? And does it activate his days too, so all 5 have bar codes? I assume as I have activated my days, I am fit to travel now and need to do nothing else? Ideally I would like that to be the case for both of us as our trip is fixed now
I have a mobile interrail pass. I booked eurostar tickets and other reservations on my ipad using the website and then realised I had to use that app on my phone so transferred my pass to my phone. I then added my trip using the app on my phone. I already have the tickets. Will they still be valid.I have not activated my pass yet as I am not travelling until 7th September.
