TimeTable Release?

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hi,  Hope the community can help.   I am a first time interrailer and travelling with my two children over Xmas week from Paris going east and returning to Paris ( 20th to 27th ) ,   I am looking to get out of Paris around 5pm on the 20th but it seems the new timetable isnt released until mid December ?

What i need to know is

What is the latest bookable Interrail-compatible train from Paris Est on Sunday 20 December 2026 to Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Mannheim or another suitable point towards Lake Constance?

And specifically:

Is there a direct TGV/ICE from Paris Est after approximately 19:00?

What time does it arrive?

Does it require a reservation?

Can three passengers travel on the Interrail pass on that service?

Timetables are usually published in October.

However, always check the official websites of the railway companies directly, not the Interrail Planners.

All TGV/ICE from Paris require a reservation until the first station in Germany.

You can find more information here:

Thank you .     One train that i hoping to get is   🇫🇷 Paris Est → 🇩🇪 Karlsruhe  on the 20th Dec around 19.00.  Is that likely do you think ?

If you want to be certain, you can go ahead and book seats on a TGV to Strasbourg and spend the night there. You can also travel to Lake Constance via Basel and Zurich.

TGV reservations for Interrail passes are refundable if you travel later via Germany.

Deutsche Bahn open sales for the timetable starting on 13/12 on 14/10. I expect Paris to Karlsruhe will then also be bookable.

You can already get an idea of the possibilities by looking at the timetable of e.g. 6/12.

Does it require a reservation?

Can three passengers travel on the Interrail pass on that service?

In general terms . . . yes, TGVs require reservations for all travelers whether they have a pass or not and (as far as I know) ICEs from France into Germany also require reservations.

Can three passengers . . . yes, absolutely.

The ICE from Germany to Paris definitly require reservations for journeys into france. The reservations including the surcharge can be booked from DB (this is the case for both the TGV and the ICE between Karlsruhe and Paris) with this link  https://int.bahn.de/en/buchung/start?KL=2&ET=PASSZUSCHLAG

You can do that once the timetable/bookings release.

Important: do not select "Book seat only”, and in the second step, choose "Passzuschlag Global Pass”.

Thanks really apprecite your help

So what i need to do is

Create a journey for each ‘ step ‘ of my train trip around Europe.  Journey or Step 1 would be my train out of Paris.   Add these to the Trip within the App

Work out which Joureny or Steps need a reservation

If no reservation is needed then crack on - just remember to activate that Joureny in the App before you get in train

One quick questions - when are the times tables resleased again - sorry to ask

For Germany it is arround middle of October (But Germany has no mandatory reservations on day trains)

(The highspeed trains from france to Germany on the other hand requires mandatory reservations)

Hi quick question.  I am trying to book a reservation for Paris Est to Karlsruhe Hbf via https://int.bahn.de/en/buchung/start?KL=2&ET=PASSZUSCHLAG   and i can see a time that works.  I  select it, add in the ages of the travellers 47, 12 and 8  then select the Global Pass - it gives me a price of 35 euros.  But when i go to pay it says    Unfortunately, a reservation is not possible for this connection. Due to compulsory reservation, a booking is therefore not possible. Please choose another connection.

What is happening here ?   A bit confused..

These reservations are in the SNCF system and SNCF haven't released them yet.

As soon as you can see the train on www.sncf-connect.com (bookable, so with prices), then pass reservations should also be available.

ok.  Any ideas when that may be?

Additionally, you can enter your e-mail address on the SNCF website to be notified when trains for your date can be booked:

You can't book pass reservations there but from that moment, pass reservations should be bookable in the usual places, such as the special DB page.

So Strasbourg - Offenburg is closed from 18 to 20th December (particulary Kehl - Kork, see strecken.info). I suspect some trains will be rerouted via Saarbrücken and they’re working on the timetables.

If you’re heading southeast, it could make more sense to take a direct Paris - Zurich TGV Lyria (29€ 2nd class reservation fee, 39€ 1st class) or a domestic TGV as far as Strasbourg or Mulhouse.

(I wonder who had the amazing idea to do the works during the extremely busy Strasbourg Christmas market but oh well...)
