Travelling in a Group

Hello. We are looking to travelling as a group of 13 (9A/4C) around Europe using either 7 or 10 day pass. We have 4 planned trips between our base cities that all 13 of us will do. We are thinking of doing at least 4 day trips out of our base cities, but not all of us will be doing the same day trips and these will be booked on the fly.

What is the best way to manage each pass? All on my device? Couples and families together on their own devices? Single adults on their own?  I am in charge of organising all the bookings though so if everyone’s pass was on separate device I would need to physically use their phones to add the trips.

If I had all the passes on my phone, can each one have different trips/itinteraries? Can I send screenshots of the QR codes to other travellers who are doing different day trips. Or do they all have to have the same itinerary as me?

( Last time we travelled as a group of 4 (2A/2C) and I had all 4 passes on my device. I took photos of our QR codes and sent them to my husband before each trip in case we weren’t together when the ticket inspector came around which worked well. )

Best way is the every person has the pass on their own Device. (so they can travel seperatly if needed)

You can share the trip (as a link from the app) with the already planned journeys, and everyone later adds any additional day trips themselfe.

The passses on your Device can have different itineraries.

But Screenshots are not valid, the pass is only valid in the app. So no you can not s nd them Screenshots of their ticket.

Reservations on the other should be booked together, so you ideally get seats next to each other. Those usually are a pdf that can then be send to each person.

Note that screenshots have never been valid. But even if they were accepted by rail staff last year, they won’t any more. Because the app has been updated to block the QR code when you take a screenshot.

Managing other people’s passes - whether on your phone or on theirs - sounds like making a rod for your own back! Better for every adult to manage their own pass. Or at least one person per family.

More importantly, are you are a pass is the best choice for you? Have you compared ticket prices for the main trips? It may work out cheaper and easier than passes
