Hi there,

does anyone have suggestions for a good route from London to La Spezia (with maybe a short bus ride needed to get to our final destination like Lerici) in July 2027 please? I know there are numerous ways to go about it.  Happy to have a stop over somewhere interesting along the way. (2adults, 2 teens). Thanks!

I’d be tempted to do:

  • Eurostar London - Paris
  • Frecciarossa Paris - Torino (cheaper than TGV)
  • overnight in Torino
  • IC Torino - La Spezia or regional with change in Genova

Otherise the Paris - Nice night train. A 1st class pass allows you to get a 4-people couchette compartment.

Agree with @thibcabe above. The chief decision is which route you want to take from Paris: day train to Turin, or night train to Nice.

A stop in Paris, Lyon, Turin or Nice would all be quite good options.

How abut Paris to Milan, overnight there then on to La Spezia?

How abut Paris to Milan, one night there then on to La Spezia? Or does this train call at Turin before Milan? Is it better to go to Turin than Milan? Thanks!

Overnighting in Turin would make slightly more sense than Milan. The journey to La Spezia next day is roughly the same - about 3-3.5 hours from either city, but obviously Turin is closer to Paris.

How long will you stay there? Have a look at a city guide to see which appeals more. And/ or check hotel prices to see if you find a particularly good deal in one or the other
