Hi I’m a English student planning on travelling for the first time without family before university. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of routes to take starting from London, I love bustling cities but also serene mountains and other natural scenes. My big concern is that Europe isn’t exotic or foreign enough so want to find a route which provides that exoticness and cultural shock but am not quite sure where to start. Any tips are welcome, thank you!
Hi there - in need of some helpful advice from fellow interrail travelers! My partner Harry Marshall is doing a running challenge for charity which will consist of running 10 MARATHONS in 10 DAYS in 10 COUNTRIES! Which is why Europe is the perfect place - exact route & dates are still to be confirmed and it’s going to take an a crazy amount of planning. We have a rough idea of July 2024. We are UK citizens but currently living in Canada. After the intense 10 days we plan to holiday for around 1 week so will require a pass to get us by for more than 10 days. Anyway, I’m beginning to look at passes and wondered what pass people would suggest. I’m thinking 1st class tickets as I’m assuming these cabins will be more comfortable for my partners recovery! Any help would be amazing, and if you’re a runner we should put you in touch and you could come join him! He’s sure gonna need the company. I’d be grateful to hear your thoughts on this! Thanks again, Morgan
Hey!My plan is to travel from Budapest to Ljubljana in May 2024 but the 8 or 9 hours train ride sounds bit too long. Do you have any recommendations in which city we should stop on the way (for one or two nights). Apparently Zagreb or Graz could be an option but do you have any other ideas? Or which one of those two you would recommend? We are two girls and trying to find a budget-friendly option :)Thanks in advance!
is anyone in the next few days in Barcelona, Madrid or Seville?would be nice to meetup!hit me up :)
Hey!I’m trying to plan my next years trip, I will probably start in April and go until early June to avoid the summer rush of travelers. I think I’ve got a couple of stops too many, but I’m not sure what more to remove. So I’d love feedback if there’s any cities I could remove without missing too much.I love unique tours and just drinking beer at new places haha. I feel like the highlight of my trip will be the Balkans, and not the western Europe. I’ve done two other interrails over a span of 40 days each trip, and I cant really do a lot of 1-2 night stops as its impossible for me to take the train/bus hangover lol. I’ve got 10 travel days and plan to use it for the western Europe and just pay for the bus/train in Balkan without the pass.If you guys think all of my stops are worth visiting, I might just skip Stockholm, Copenhagen, Hamburg and fly from Trondheim to Amsterdam and start there? And I can save these cities for a another time. My itenary so far isStart TrondheimStockholm 3 n
Hello Eurorail community!I’m planning a 2 week impromptu trip starting Christmas through Jan 7, flying in/out of London from the US. Hoping to visit several countries by train as this will be first time in this part of world and I feel that would give me a great opportunity to see the beautiful countryside and meet people along the way . Thinking something like: London>France>Switzerland>Austria or Germany>Belgium>Amsterdam>London>HomeI know its ambitious but feel it's doable. I’m traveling solo, will stay at AirBnBs along the way, and mainly looking to experience the local culture, meet great people and have fun. I’m going through the most challenging time of my life but very optimistic about future and a big fan of staying present and following dreams and goals, Life is shortHoping to get any/all advice, recommendations from this experienced community, such as:-Do I need to make advanced train reservations for each stop? I hoped to keep my options open but unders
Would I be able to use one of my days from Dorset to Ashford Kent, then catch the earliest Eurostar from Ashford to Bordeaux on my second day?
Hi all! This spring/summer I will finally travel by Interrail for the first time! Very enthousiastic about it, however while trying to check the actual timetable, the Interrail app only shows the trip from Copenhagen to Oslo containing two transfers (incl. Karlstad). That trip would take over 10hrs. In the previous topics and on other sites, I understood that it should be possible to travel from Copenhagen to Oslo with a single transfer in Goteburg, that would save almost 2hrs!Does anyone know more about this? Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone! I plan on visiting Spain, Italy, and Switzerland over 3 weeks. To my understanding, there are some stops in Switzerland, such as Interlaken which are not covered but we are given a discount when purchasing. Are these available for purchase through the app or website? Or would this have to be done in person. I’d like to figure out how much more I’d have to spend on transportation on top of the eurail pass if i decide to go this route. We plan on taking a train from Switzerland to Spain, I noticed there are multiple ticket options. Some say, “pass not valid” what does this mean exactly? To get to Spain, there are multiple train changes and some of the stops are valid, some require reservation, and some say pass not valid, Paris for example is not valid. I believe we would need to find a route that allows us to travel there with no issues. Has anyone had any difficulties with this?
We will be 3 days in Prague, Berlin, and Budapest and 2 days in Vienna. I haven’t purchased our Eurail passes yet - are there any day trips from any of these cities that are really worthwhile and might justify adding days to our Eurail passes?I look forward to your comments.
Hi, Why are regiojet trains are no longer showing on the app?
Hello, Why can’t i book a ticket for 1 stop on a night train?Let’s say there is a Budapest-Zurich NightTrain, but i only want to travel from Vienna to Salzburg. Train Schedule says “Enter only, no exiting allowed.” for several stops during the journey. Why is this? And in theory can i use this train if i have a daily ticket (or season ticket) between two destinations? (It’s hard to beleive i physically can not leave a train when it stops). Also the timetable aren’t showing me this possibility but when i look at live map there are a lot of trains on the go between these stops in the night. It’s only theoritical question so i’m not in need for any ticket like this, just interested.
Hello, I plan to go to Paris from Munich on Nov. 10, I saw a train offer by TGV which have to transfer in Stuttgart departure in Munich at 8:55 am. And I booked a reservation seat from Stuttgart, but now the train is no longer there on the timetable. (Both the leg from Munich to Stuttgart and the leg from Stuttgart to Paris.) And I haven’t add this trip to my journey before it disappeared. What can I do then? Should I cancel the previous one and rebook? Will the reservation fee refund if I do this?THANKS FOR ANSWERING!!
Good afternoon, I would like to know if there is any slower way that I can go from paris nord to Le Creux-Des-biches (Switzerland) without making any payment? What are the alternative ways instead of buying reservation seat on TGV and Eurostar. Thank you.
I am terribly confused by the eurail website. I expected to be able to put in a start location and a destination and it would show me all options of how to get to my destination including stops. Instead it just shows a map with a straight line which is not part of the rail routes. I expected it to be like google maps which shows exact route or even better, like San Francisco CA MUNI which shows you every form of transportation including length of time to get to your destination. Can someone please tell me if this feature exists and if so, where do I find it on the Eurail website? Or if you can recommend a better way to try to plan a 10 trip in France and Spain next summer. Thanks so much for any help!
Hi there ! This is the first time I am using Interrail: I want to travel from Bratislava, Slovakia to Beograd, Serbia When trying to find the route in the app planner, I can’t find this tripDoes it mean my pass (5 days global) will not allow me to do this one? Or is there any trick so I can keep my plan as I was supposed to? I have the same issue for the next trip I had planned, which is from Beograde to Sofia, Bulgaria It seems Beograde is not available on the app planner, while the website shows the train station of the city as available Thanks for your help !Roman
hey! I'm going on interrail in a few weeks. Do you have a preferred tip for sitting on the left or right of Amsterdam-->Copenhagen?Thanks in advance 😊
Hello 🤗So I won a 15days global Ticket and now I am not sure where to go. Do y'all have some tips? Sweden, Norway and Denmark or Italy, Netherlands and France? I really do not know. Ireland and England would aswell be interesting. My journey would start and end in Cologne Germany.
Hi everyone!I am planning an interrail trip from roughly 20 July to 5 September 2024. I’m open to any destinations that sound interesting, but particularly keen to see Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Zurich and Bern. During the interrail period, I have fixed engagement that mean I’ll need to be in Paris for 02-04 August and Barcelona in the second half of August. I’m having some trouble designing the best route that could cover my fixed engagements while also taking me through the destinations I’m particularly keen to see. Any advice on route planning for this trip would be much appreciated! Thanks, David
Is there a direct train to go from Strasbourg to Paris?
Hi I'm soon travelling with our teenagers from Switzerland to London. We want to go by ferry. P&O has only three possibilities to go as foot passenger, it is risky to catch the last one.I thought to take a coach for Calais - Dover? Where do I find some coach companies? Has anyone a suggestion. Thanks!
Did you know that you get 50% discount on almost all lake constance public boat lines with your interrail/eurail pass? Many people don’t know, since it is published nowhere, except in the tariff:https://www.schiffe-am-bodensee.ch/images/befoerderungsbedingungen/Bodensee_Personentarif_2021_website.pdfIt can also be helpful to carry this pdf with you, in case the ticket seller don’t knows interrail/eurail!
