Hello everyone,So I’m planning a trip to the UK & Ireland with a friend between mid-August and mid-September (around 9th August - 8th September). I have a 2-month continuous pass and her a one-month pass. She prefers cities while I like both cities and nature. We have a rough itinerary but open to changes. Any advice for places to stay or scenic railways ? DAY 1 : Switzerland - Paris - London → TGV from Frasne (10€) and Eurostar (30€) London (3 nights) : we’ve already been but there are some exhibitions on our list York (1 night) Edinburgh (3 nights) : day trip to St. Andrews worth it ? Inverness (1 night) or 4 nights in Edinburgh and a long travel day to Kyle of Lochalsh (nothing against that) Kyle of Lochalsh Railway Portree (Isle of Skye) (1 night) : we’ll go back one day to explore more of that area (and other islands) by car. The main goals are the incredible railways in that area. Bus to Armadale (must be on a Friday, I checked with the tourist office), ferry to Mallaig and l
Hello all! I'll be traveling to Hungary in September and I'm wondering about train travel between Budapest and Timisoara. Are there lines that run between the two that Eurail passes are good for? Times of day? ~Thanks so much for any advice given!
Hello everybody! Its my first time posting in this forum and I’m not exactly sure id this is the right place for this stuff, but I’ll give it a try.I’m currently on a journey throughout france, and besides france probably being the worst country when you have no drivers license and are tied to trains, I’m enjoying my route so far.I’ll be in Betragne with stops in Saint Brieuc, Dinan & Saint-Malo from april 8 to april 17, and was wondering if there’s anyone who happens to be in the region too these days and might want to meet up for a coffee or anything? Its my fourth time traveling with Interrail, but until now I’ve always been alone everywhere I go and I might want to change that.Feel free to hit me up!Best wishes to all,Joan
My friend in Berlin just sent me this, read and weep...https://www.rbb24.de/panorama/beitrag/2022/07/interrail-ticket-zugreise-berliner-studentin-interview.html
I need help buying a train pass but I am not sure if it will be worth buying the Global Pass or buying the individual tickets for each destination. I am landing in London Heathrow Airport on April 28th from USA. I am planning to buy the Europe Global Pass to get from the airport to London’s City Center. Would the pass work for this and do we have to book in advance or is 1 day before fine? Would this pass work for travel within London as we are not planning to get a rental car or use taxis as I heard they are expensive and traffic. On April 30th, we are planning to go from London to Paris then on May 2nd we are planning to go from Paris to Zurich. On May 4th, we plan to go from Zurich to Amsterdam and on May 5th return to London from Amsterdam as our flight back to USA is from London on May 6th. Would this be the best order of travel considering total time to travel between destinations, we are trying to minimize our travel time on the train.Which train pass would be budget friendly for
As an Inter-rail newbie I’m not clear exactly which stations are included in the pass, both in the UK and on the continent and wondered if it’s possible to check prior to purchasing to avoid additional costs later on? The online map only shows the main locations but we’d like to confirm whether other sections of our anticipated trip are included before purchasing the passes! Specifically Reading to London and Marseille to Toulon. Would be grateful for your help.
Hi , I am planning to visit Istanbul ( not the whole Turkey) in the next summer July /augustus , with my girl friend ( we are 63 and 67 years old ) , the cheapest alternative , Saturdays are preferred to start and to come back days to The the Netherlands ( Rotterdam or Den haag central stations) .Also I want to stay some hours in some of the EU cities / stations on my way to Istanbul ( not in the way back) and restart my travel again to Istanbul , the travel wil be less than 4 weeks including travel days .-Is that possible ?? -what will be the the costs to go there and come back ? the cheapest alternatives , please , we are open for other suggestions over the travel days ...etc. .-what do we need for reservations , it is now only ONE TRAVEL experiment, may be next year we will make it again , if it will be successful one . I do not think I will use the train for other destinations in the future .-Please feel free to give us any other advice's.Regards ,
Hi guys,Does enyone know if there are ferry’s from Folegandros to Naxos? When looking online I can only find dates until the end of May. I would travel beginning of June. Do the ferry’s not run anymore in summer? Or are the trips not yet scheduled?I’m interested in the ‘normal’ ferries. And not the fast & expensive ones.As we would want to takt this ferry with the Greek ferry pass. Thanks,Laurie
Hi there,I’m taking this trip in july (see previous question) I talked about it to my friends and some are worried that I’m going to spend too much time on the trains, especially in comparison with the time I get to spend ‘not traveling’. I have done several long train journeys, but never that many in 1 trip. Is it too much on the train, moving around to really enjoy the trip?Any thoughts from experienced train-travellers?
I’m travelling from hamburg to copenhagen and i have to transfer in Odense and go to Slagelse. It is written on the app ‘train’ but also ‘BUS6140’ near it. So do i take the bus or the train?
I have a question regarding a night train. I would like to start from Germany with the Global Pass. My first destination is Prague. From there I would like to take the night train to Zurich. There are two options for this: The EN50466 of the CD via Austria or the EN40458 (Nightjet) of the ÖBB via Germany. Can I travel through Germany with the Global Pass without getting off (EN40458) or do I have to travel around Germany (EN50466)?
Why can´t I find any train from Salzbourg or Viena to Florence or Rome?
Hello everyone,This summer in august I will start my interrail adventure with my boyfriend. I was looking for trains connecting Budapest and Belgrado, and after a few days go to montenegro. But I couldn’t found connecting trains. Can someone help me please?
Hi everyone,I plan to take some trips in the summer of 2023 from Thessaloniki to Skopje or Sofia. Due to recent train accident in Greece and the suspension of train services afterwards (in addition to the suspension of train services during the pandemic), is any hope that international train services will be stored during the summer?
I am looking to make a trip in the summer, on my own (female, 41) and was wondering if this is itinerary is going to be too much as all my 'train-days' are quite long. Do any of you have experience with these trains and know if these will be comfortable, have catering,?Also, any tips on reservering seats in advance? According to the railplanner app I don't have to reserve for any of these trains. Thanks!

I’ll be spending 2-4 hours in Genova (depending which train I decide to catch), and was wondering what anyone who has been would recommend doing there and seeing there. I don’t mind walking and usually opt for the cheapest/free things to do and see. Thanks

Hello. We will be travelling in October. Wondering if 4 min is enough transfer time in STEINACH (B ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER), 5 min in ANSBACH and 7 min at STUTTGART HBF station. Ive never been on the train, so Im not sure what it means to transfer from train to train, for example is it another station or across the platform? Or different depending on what city? Thanks for any information!
Hi Everyone, I’m heading off to Europe with my partner in a few weeks time around 20 April. We are heading to Frankfurt via Brussels and down through Germany to Italy. We fancy taking it easy in a nice seaside town in Northern Italy near Rimini or Ravenna perhaps. We’re not looking for a beach holiday, just a nice comfortable place to relax and chill out for perhaps 6-7 days. We like walking/hiking, art galleries and good food. But we’re also happy to daydream in beautiful surroundings after a hectic winter. I don’t know that part of Italy at all and would be grateful to hear about peoples’ experiences there. thanks!
