We have just returned from a long weekend in Monte Carlo, but couldn’t find any E* from Paris. We could though find a couple of options from Lille.A local train from Monte Carlo to Nice Ville in good time for the morning TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon. Then a RER transfer to Gare de Nord took about 30 mins for late afternoon TGV train to Lille (Connection time was 1 hr) Only stressful time was getting a ticket for the RER - easy once I got to the front of the queue for the machine.A mid centre 4* hotel and an excellent evening meal at on of the many Brasseries within 10 minutes walk ( a little expensive I admit). Then we had the morning in Lille centre, including an excellent Breakfast in another of the great Brasseries at half the price of the hotel. We then walked up to Lille Europe (via EuraLille shopping centre) - about 15 mins walking plus time in EuraLille for a coffee and a dash around Carrefour. Check in for 1335 E* started at 1230 and was a bit slow for passport checks but otherwise e
Hiya, I’m currently on a gap year and looking to do an inter railing trip from London, through france, Croatia, Italy and others :) but I currently have no travel buddies, so can this site be used to find similar people to travel with?
Hi!I am looking to travel to Bar in Montenegro in May from the UK. We then plan to travel back via train too. My husband has a fear of flying so thought this would be a great way to get to Europe with him having a meltdown! On the way there we need to travel as quickly as possible as we are going to a yoga retreat that starts on 18th May. However, on the return journey (25th) we have a bit more time. Is it possible to get some help and advice on planning this journey. I’ve never done anything like this before as I normally fly so I would really appreciate a bit of help! Thanks in advance 🙏🏼Corfe
Hi guys,I will arrive in Istanbul tomorrow morning and spend there two or three days. I am currently in Bucharest so I would like to go to the other direction ( Sofia, Croatia etc.)Do you have any suggestions on how to leave Istanbul and where to head next?It seems quite complicated to get to the direction of Montenegro / Croatia. If there’s no good train connection I would just go by bus.Just leave any recommendations or inspiration :)Thanks a lot in advance
The interrail map shows a line crossing the sea from Naples to Carania. Is this a ferry connection and if so who operates it and is it discounted or is it just a misleading line across the sea?
1.Where to check if titlis is open on a day? 2. What other options if Titlis is closed?3. Is mount Pilatus and Rigi not covered from Luzern in Interrail global pass?
Can someone please give me a list of scenic train tracks that are covered by the Euro rail global pass starting from Zurich Main station. Preferably ones without seat reservations but either is ok Thanks
Hello everyone!I’m planning my trip this August and I noticed that I could benefit from some ferry discounts to travel between Greece and Italy (30-100% off) on board Superfast and ANEK ferries. As I read in the site: “As a Pass holder you can get from 30% off (surcharges for port taxes and fuel apply) up to 100% off (if you have a Global Pass).” I have a 15days straight pass (2nd class) but when I tried to book the tickets I could only get a 30% discount… Note: I’m planning to travel from Ancona (Italy) to Patra (Greece) at 18th August.
Where should me and my sis go in Vienna? we’ve done the museums - what else is there?
Hey community :) I bought a ticket to Berlin a few months ago in order to visit Russia from Germany but then war happened etc. Now I’ve changed my trip to the following travel itinerary:Berlin to Thessaloniki (airplane, bought)Thessaloniki to Sofia (train? bus? Didn’t find much info, didn’t bought yet. HELP)Sofia to Istanbul (train? bus? what do you recommend?)Istanbul to Tirana (airplane, bought) Regarding the pending itinerary, what do you recommend? Over $800 paid for 2 first class global tickets and the first day we use them London kings cross to Edinburgh we get pushed from platform to platform looking for a train with available seats! We try to buy reservations at the ticket office and after waiting in line for 30 minutes we are told we cant buy reservations and get in a fight with the ticket clerk. All this time we are humping luggage and we are both over 70 and nobody seemed to know anything or care for our dilemma. On the return leg same thing, girl at info booth says go to platform 2 so we lug over there and wait 20 mins and the train comes in and it’s going north so lug back to info and told platform 8. We go there and the departure board says platform 2 and we hear an announcement to go to platform 2 so we lug back there and wait another 30 mins and a staff member comes walking down the platform telling everyone to go to platform 6. We lug there and the train is ready to leave so we get on and start looking for seats a
So I'm pretty confused as to why Oslo is poorly connected to neighbouring capitals Stockholm and Copenhagen. It's rare to see a direct train and it's usually like 1-3 connections in stations that close pretty early. (Why Gothenburg isn't a 24h station escapes me) Given that it's regular to see times 8-10h+ for a 450km journey is pretty crazy right? Finland's towns seem better connected than Norway's capital. Is there something I'm missing or is it just going to be a huge pain to get in and out of Norway? Or do they rely more on buses for these routes? Currently in Berlin making my way to Oslo. There's a direct to Copenhagen 06:38-13:36 from there it looks like wait a day untill 09:27- 17:51 Copenhagen/Gothenburg/Oslo. But surely there's a better option that doesn't include the colour ferry for 2000nok. Any help?
Hi, I’m currently in Munich and I’d like to make my way up to Sweden in a relaxed way over the course of a week. I was wondering about Munich - Vienna - Prague, but then I’m not sure where to go inbetween. Any ideas? Have been to a lot of cities so I’m also up for somewhere smaller.
Hey guys. So I randomly have 3 days left of my 2 month interrail account and I got a weekend spare, Sweet sauce! I would love to just visit nature and quiet and am looking for suggestions where to go, departing from Arnhem Netherlands (German border). Where should I go???
Hi all, My wife and I are planning to go to Italy to celebrate some holiday's. At the end of the trip I meet a couple of friends in Palermo to have a guys weekend. My wife will most likely go back home from Rome.We want to see nature instead of cities. One of the places we want to visit are the Dolomites. Does anyone has any expierence on how to come there by train? When I look on the website of interrail I can only select large cities. So, I'm not quite sure of it is possible to go to the Dolomites by train. It might be that I need to search in a different way.In total we have 12 days together and then I have a couple of days with friends. So we are not only going to the Dolomites, but we were also thinking about the black forest in Germany. Tips on how the get there would also be helpfull. Thank you for all the responses!
My husband and I are traveling November December. We have a 15 day in 2 month 1st class global pass. We plan London - Paris - interlaken - Florence - Rome - Venice - Salzburg - Budapest - Prague ( or maybe Venice - Budapest - Salzburg - Prague) - Berlin - Amsterdam - Brussels/Brugge - London. We are planning on spending 2 nights in each place not including London. I know this is very quick so I ask if anyone has any suggestions on how we can save time on travel ie maybe overnight trains just keeping in mind that we have only 15 travel days. Thanks for your help.
Hi all,I am going to Italy for the first time in my life and I want to take train from Rome to Milan on the morning of 8 Oct. I have checked on thetrainline.com and I saw from the government website (http://scioperi.mit.gov.it/mit2/public/scioperi)There is a locale strike on 7 Oct 21.01 to 8 Oct 21.00 but it seems that I can still make reservation under Eurail.Does anyone know how would it affect the train schedule from Rome to Milan? Or it is meaning that train will not arrive Milan on 8 Oct? Thanks so much in advance as I really have not much idea about Italy’s transport system.
Hi,so as we have planned our tour, we are going to travel also from Lulea to Helsinky. We found a train Lulea → Haparanda and then Tornio Itainen → Helsinki. On a map we can see, that Haparanda station and Tornio Itainen station is about one hour walk? Does anybody performed this trip? Is it easy to cross the border? Or is it even possible? I was looking on different maps and it looks like it is pretty easy (e.g. as crossing the borders from Czechia to Slovakia, you just walk :D). So I am just making sure, that its pretty easy and you just walk and you are in Finland. Thanks for your help
Me and my mom are planning to go to Rovaniemi from Kiruna via Haparanda-Tornio bus station in December. Can anyone suggest the best way for us?Is it possible not to stay overnight in Kemi? Is it possible to walking from Haparanda to Tornio bus station with large luggage in December? How long does it take? What are the Timetable and fare for bus from Tornio to Rovaniemi in December 2022?
Hi, I have a question about using a train from VY from Sweden to Norway. The following train is not shown in the Railplanner app, but it does appear on the Swedish (and Norwegian) railways site VY:R20 from Gothenburg to Oslo on 20.9.22 from 10:15 to 13:51https://www.vy.no/en /booking/customize?orderId=f6736cd8-50f4-4672-8072-057d2c1979bcIn the Railplanner App there are just trains with a change in Kil. These connections are not displayed to me on the VY website due to construction work. Can I use the train with an Interrail ticket or do I have to buy a extra ticket? Thanks for your help.
Hello everyone, I’m planning a family trip next year (2 adults, 2 children). We’re leaving from Manchester and hoping to get around Poland/Czech Rep/ Austria and back in 9-11 days. Does anyone have any advice on how close to Poland / Prague I can get on my first travel day? Has anyone done a similar trip? I’d like to take at least one sleeper train - can anyone recommend / advise on a sleeper train for any part of that journey? Looking forward to any input. Thanks all.
