Hi! I am planning to visit Swedish Lapland in March 2025. I am thinking of staying in Kiruna for 2 days in order to have a chance to witness the northern lights. Does anyone know how to find budget friendly and valuable tours for chasing the northern lights? Any other tips for this occasion are very well appreciated!! thank you !

Hi,I am planning a scandinavia trip for 1 or 2 months sometime in April-June on my own and would like to spend a few days in Ylläs. Is it correct that there is absolutely no “direct” bus connection or so between Kolari and Gällivare? So the only public transport way is to make the huge detour via Lulea etc? Do you know where I could ask for a rideshare if maybe someone is travelling by car? Or how high do you think the chances are that I will meet someone along the way that is planning this route? :D

How is it possible to go with the train from Zweisimmen to Montbovon without reservation fees? When I look in the railplanner app e. g. for November 6th, I only get trains with “variable fees”.I always thought that it would only cost for the panoramic car...

Hi,how can I book a specifix seat on panorama car via Arlberg? I know, I can select the coach on OeBB Website, but how can I select the specific seat? Bahn.de is also not possible. Or has anybody experience how full this coach would be on December 2th or 3rd from Feldkirch to Innsbruck?

Hello ! I am travelling (alone) in scandinavia with the global pass, and at the moment i am in Stockholm.I used to not organize anything and move where i feel to go and i’ve only did big cities. But now, i would love to go to stunning nature places as i know these countries have to offer.Do anyone has recommendation or itineraries to visit these countries? I’ll be there for the next 4-5 months or more, so i have time to go everywhere!Big preference for nature while slow travelling, if it can be optimized with the weather of the next months (i mean, prioritizing “best” places in the “best month” for it) would be awesome.Thank you very much ! 

As it’s getting towards winter, I thought I’d share a couple of new services that are around this winter, and some very useful maps I’ve found that help make sense of existing trains.Eurostar are operating a weekly service from Amsterdam & Brussels to the Isère Valley, with connections available from London via Lille. Details from UK and from BE/ NL. European Sleeper are going from Brussels/ Amsterdam to several alpine Austrian stations, though only on an odd selection of dates.Snowcarbon is a great resource for finding your way to ski resorts. They have recommended train times (from London) and also details on transfers to the resort from the nearest station, including some often hard-to-find bus timetables. They also created these maps, showing the all routes for reaching the Austrian Alps, and the French ski resorts from Northern Europe.SBB - I’m always impressed by Snow ‘n’ Rail from SBB, which combines a train ticket with a lift pass, at a discount. Hello beautiful people! I’m planning a Eurotrip for my 30th birthday in February/March 2025 and I’d like your advice on how to get from city to city using the Eurail Pass. Whenever possible, I would prefer to travel by night to save money/lower the cost of my trip. Here’s my itinerary so far:Barcelona (3-4 days) Marseille (2-3 days) Milan (2-3 days) **or should I go to Venice instead? Hi!We want to go along the northern spanish coast. A few questions: 1.) For the feve railways: Which part is the most scienic? As the trains are really slow, we would only go where it is much more nice than the normal renfe railway…2.) I have seen, there are some Renfe trains in the rail planner app called TRN where are reservation is said to be needed. When I click on the details, there is only a 6€ fee for second class. We have Interrail first class. So is there no fee for us or is there no first class? Could it be, a only second class train where a reservation is needed?3.) Anyone of you went on the Spanish northern coast from Hendaye to northern Portugal? Which combination of trains seems to be especially good? I remember that some renfe trains offered free food for first class passengers and that there was also a scientic mountain route which is now replaced by a high speed tunnel…

We (2 adults, two children 2,5) would like to travel in Sveden with Interrail first class. We would like to go with x2 / x2000 train from Malmö to Gotenburg  but on Interrail app, a reservation is 19€. Four times 19€ seems a little expensive to me.Are there any cheaper options / is reservation really needed? or are there any benefits like free meal?

Hi, I’m trying to plan a trip from Sevilla to Lisbon to Nazare to Porto and then to Bilbao. Then I would find a way to France after Bilbao. None of these trips seem very straight forward and any travel between Portugal and Spain seems difficult. Is there a best way to get to get to Lisbon from Spain either from Sevilla or elsewhere. And is there a recommended route to get from Porto back into Spain? Any help is appreciated. 

I have a 10 days global EU rail pass and i will be travelling from Paris on 27 Dec to Switzerland.  I would like to ride on Glacier Express and / or Bernina express.  I need to be in Rotterdam on 2 Jan late afternoom.  Can someone please give me advice on the route. I am also unsure of the best way to travel from Switzerland to Rotterdam as i have heard that the Nightjet may not be a good option. Please also share tips on how to avoid bookings with a fee.  Many thanks

We (retired Canadian couple) are thinking of a train trip leaving Vienna in Mid November and then travelling through Italy to Sicily, 2 weeks in Sicily (Palermo as base or ???) then on to northern Spain and end up in Bucharest for Xmas then back to Vienna for New Year..any thoughts?  Ferry to Palermo from Civitavecchia? then back to Civitavecchia and ferry to Barcelona (advice please.. is it advisable in winter ?) . San Sebastian, Bilbao or ?? in northern Spain (2 weeks so somewhere that’s a good jumping off point) then to somewhere in France (tips please), Turin then Lubljanana and on to Bucharest.  We speak Italian, French,and basic German and Spanish.  Any advice much appreciated. Weather isn’t much of a concern as we live in Newfoundland so anything that isn’t rain drizzle or fog is a bonus.

Heads-up that there are fresh strikes proposed on LNER affecting weekends from 31 August to 14 November. (Weekdays are unaffected, as are other operators.)It’s likely that they will run a reduced service on the core section of the route (London-Edinburgh, and probably London-Leeds). Expect reduced frequency and fewer early morning/ late night services. Hi allPlanning to be back on the rails for a two week trip around the end of August, so thought I’d see if anyone has any hot tips/suggestions. Family of four.We want to cover Copenhagen and Stockholm, and are thinking of adding Oslo to the mix if it’s worth it. Unfortunately I am not so good in knowing how to go by ferrys. We (family, 2 adults, two children 2, 5) want to go from Munich to the Lofoten, and later on to Great Britain. So our plan is to go on a day train from Munich to Sassnitz or Rostock for a ferry to Sweden. We should arrive there early evening. Which connection would you prefer, from Sassnitz or Rostock for an overnight ferry?(From there, we plan to travel to Stockholm, where we want to take the night train to Narvik, and there with the Bus to the Lofoten. From the Lofoten with a ferry to Bodo, and there with the train to the South.)Next we want to go to Great Britain. I only know two options so far: We go to Brussels and with the Eurostar to London. Or we go to Hook van Holland and from there with a night ferry to England. Is there a third option recommendable? Any hints for the hook van Holland ferry?Thank you very much!

I am going from Tirano on the 20th of June 2023, plan to do Bernia express then join onto the glacier express to the Matterhorn in Zermatt.on the eurorail app I find I can not make it from Tirano to St. Moritaz before the 9am train departs along the glacier route.thus I changed around to Chur and then switching to glacier express but then it still wants to go through Zurich and around instead of going through Andermatt along the actual glacier route. please, how do I travel from Tirano to Zermatt on the same day, arriving by 7pm, via the actual bernia and glacier routes? thankyiu kindly for your assistance 

Hi everybody,My name is Adrian, 22 years old, and I just bought an Interrail pass with 5 travel days in one month. I am really excited! I am planning to go to Barcelona (not back and forth) and would love to explore 4 other cities along the way to make sure I make the most of my trip and use up all my travel days. It has proven to be difficult to map out my itinerary though! Initially I was thinking of visiting the following cities: Groningen (starting place) - Zürich/Vienna - Genua - Nice - Bilbao - Barcelona. To go from Nice to Bilbao is very difficult however and takes more than one day.I am sure I will figure it out and find a nice route to Barcelona eventually, but I would be very interested in some suggestions from the community.
