Get ready to travel

Can someone just confirm for me…Bought my interrail pass today. If I then add my pass to the inter rail app, does it then start the 2 months I’ve got to make my 10 trips.  Also, do I actually need to book trains, if they don’t have a seat reservation mandatory. Can I just jump in the train and show my interrail pass? I don’t have to book anywhere before hand. I know I can use the Deutsche Bahn app to book just seats when I need to, but I’m guessing I don’t have to do anything other than that, just show up when my trains due, and book a seat if needed?

Me and my friend have won the DiscoverEU passes, activated them in the app, but now she doesent want to go and is looking to cancel it. Is it possible to do that? Does she need to contact someone? Ive tried looking for an answer online, but it seems like you cannot cancel it after youve “activated” it?Some other relevant info: we wanted to travel in August 2024.

This is the first time I am doing Interrail having missed my opportunity in my youth. Now that I have made reservations, etc. should I activate my pass now or nearer the day I travel? (I am travelling around 17 March).

Hi everybody! I’m new to the community and planning my first solo Interrail to the UK this summer. I would like to include a trip with the Riviera Sleeper from London to Penzance in my trip. So far I’m finding it hard to find concrete information about making reservations on this train.My research shows that you can only book from 12 weeks in advance. Does anyone know if this is true? I would hate to miss a reservation by being ‘too late’. Also, it is not clear to me whether you can make that reservation from abroad (I live in Belgium). Has anyone tried this recently? What is the best way? As a millennial with severe phone anxiety, I would prefer to settle this online if possible…And last but not least: can anybody tell me the costs of this reservation? I know a seat is 6 euro, but I would like to know the prices of the cabins to decide whether it’s worth the price. I can’t seem to find a conclusive answer anywhere.So, to summarise: all Riviera Sleeper tips & tricks are welcome!Tha

Hey Guys! Me and my sister are currently travelling europe and we have tickets confirmed through the eurrail app for prague to berlin then berlin to amsterdam. Both of these trips are rather long (between 4-5 hours). On the app it says that seat reservations are optional, and then when I move to the website it says they are recommended but we are unable to book them from there. Considering all that do i need to book seat reservations (if so where do i do this?) or am i okay with just the ticket. We are travelling during the winter so the less busy period but we don’t want to risk not having a seat. 

Hi,i bought an Interrail Global Pass today (10.01.24) and want to start my journey in March 2024. When i try to book my seat it is not possible with my Interrail Global Pass.In my Email i got after buying the Interrail Global Pass it said “nach Datum aktivieren” (english Translation with deepl: “Activate by date”)  : 14.07.2024But there wasnt an option for choosing a date while buying the Interrail Global Pass.When i try to activate the Pass I can only choose between June and July 2024...not March as a startdate...

Hi guys,I’d like to take a Dortmund-Berlin train next June but presumably due to the Euros on the bahn.com it is already written "train is fully booked" and "passengers who have not yet purchased a ticket should choose a different connection".Does it really mean the train is 100% occupied and I have to take another train or can I expect seats to be freed until June due to re-bookings, etc.?Alternatively, would it still be possible to go in the train and stand up despite not having a seat or buy a ticket onsite at a machine/counter?Thank you!  

Hello Eurail community! I am hoping to find train schedules for June 17-20th from Genoa to Pisa. I have searched for routs and it says there are none. The eurail PDF map shows routs existing all along that cost. Any help to find the schedules for these trains would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It will be Barcelona - Amsterdam - Paris. I am in dire need for guidance about trains (Night train Barcelona - Amsterdam & Amsterdam - Paris).  We’re a family of 6 and are looking for best / cheapest way to travel by train as we would really want to experience this. Thanks in advance!!! Planning trip to EU and will use a Eurail pass.   Two questions:How much before our trip should I buy the Global Pass? (can I wait until a month before?) Can I book reserved seats before I buy the pass? (do this thru Rail company web sites?)

I am planning to book the Nightjet from Munich to Paris on 6 Jul 2024 departing at 00:12am at OBB website.  However, I found there is no available ticket.  When I try to test some earlier date.  I found there are ticket available from Vienna to Paris in some dates in March but none available from Munich to Paris.  May I know whether there is some privilege for journey starting from Austria or due to other reason (e.g. rail replacement work in German portion? etc) 

Earlier this year I was travelling Brussels to Chamonix. I was planning on leaving Brussels at 0823 on ICE13, via Cologne - Basel - Martigny - Vallorcine, to arrive that evening into Chamonix.On day of departure, the ICE was cancelled. The next departure to Cologne was a Thalys an hour later. I paid €25 for a reservation, and could still get to Chamonix that evening.Then my ICE from Cologne was delayed, missing my connection at Mannheim, and I wouldn’t be able to get to Chamonix that day by train. So I diverted instead to Geneva airport, where I took a shared bus transfer for €50.Eurail gave me a €20 refund for the delay, but that didn't cover my extra costs. (I mentioned the Thalys expense, but not the bus cost)Should I have done things differently? Should I have let myself get stranded in Vallorcine, then somebody would have paid (or reimbursed me) for a hotel or taxi? Or is it just tough luck?It would be useful to know for the future.

Me and my friend are going to Spain and Greek islands, so the question is that can we buy one ticket for each country separately. One country pass to Greek islands and one pass for train to Spain? First we are in Spain and then straight from there we fly to the Greek islands.

Hello guys.I’m planning my first trip to Europe early April next year, and will stay some days on Switzerland as well. I’ve been researching a lot since I’ve made the decision to go, and, by the looks of my Eurail timetable search here, it seems that the connections between Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen/Grindelwald are now covered. Still wondering whether I might be misreading something here.Even the Gruetschalp up to Murren seems covered as well (although getting from Lauterbrunnen to Gruetschalp still seems to require separated ticket though). 

We are going to to italy,france and switzerland and i need a guide what are the coverage of the global pass. Naples, Itay - this where we land.  Naples > sorrento - ferry (i doubt it is included to the global pass. But let me know if it is)      Then we will go back to naples.    Rome,Italy - from naples going to rome, is this included to the global pass using train/bus/ferry? Hello ! A few quick questions :Do I have to activate the pass in my home country or whatever ?For the reservation of seats on company websites, can I delete the seats if for example the train is deleted or change of plan ? Because the ticket yes if I don’t activate it in my pass but if the seats are already taken ?Other information : I have a flexible global pass and I'm coming from France. Thanks for your answers.

I want to take the Caledonian sleeper from Edinburg, departing Feb 25th, to London, arriving Feb 26th. And the Eurostar from London to Amsterdam at Feb 26th. Does this count for one interrail traveling day or two traveling days?

Hello,if I miss my train (takes too long at airport to make my train connection ).  Can I take the next train w same route without needing to cancel and rebook again.  On the tickets it says; valid for ~24hours. But also says cancellation free before 1st valid day.  Which this train would be my 1st train ride on the eurail.Seems like read where I  would need to cancel and rebookthank you 

It’s allowed next scenario for inbound journey in last day: Munchen-Budapest with day trainBudapest: leaving at 23:10, arriving next day 15:06  at Bucharest, no change train? I assume that arriving dat in Bucharest is in validity period of pass.
