Get ready to travel

Hello, my name is Jeff. I'm planning a solo backbacking trip through Europe for 3 months beginning mid March. I'm traveling through Scotland, Wales, London, France, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Greece and Croatia. Trying to figure out if a pass is in order or if I should just wing it. Any advice would be appreciated!

So I'm basically citizen of Iran but I study and have residency permit in Turkey. For that reason I chose interrail and purchased it. Now when I want to activate my interrail global pass it asks for my ID Document and it shows my country of residence as Turkey. Do I have to write my Turkish Residency Permit ID in there or my passport number (which also has schengen stamp on it). Thing is if I write my passport number then the country of residence on my ticket will be different than my nationality.. so I should just write my Turkish Residency ID? Btw I have a proof that I am a resident in Turkey (I have the residency ID card) and I guess thats enough right?This one I mean, the residence country should match the ID number of my Turkish residency card right? not my Iranian passport number?Thank you so much in advance

Hello everyone, I’m a non-EU resident and am currently in France. I’m looking forward to traveling to Belgium from Paris on the 23th of December (I should’ve planned ahead, I know.) The problem is that, I can’t make seat reservation using the Rail Planner app/ Eurail site. It says :“Prices unavailableNo price results were found. Pass holder reservations may be sold out for this connection, but there are other ways to check for available seats—more info below our timetable.”I tried using the Eurostar and SNCF site, there are tickets available starting from 90€, I have no idea how to use my Eurail to book it. (or if it’s even possible to do so? Because I can only book at full price which is understandably high.) Or if I need to go to a train station to book it, I’d be willing to. The app does say that the in-app schedules aren’t the most recent since it was last updated yesterday. That’s why I would like to know if there are other ways to book it with Eurail pass at lower price. This who

 I had a look at booking sites for the Bernina Express and I’m unsure what they’re telling me. I want to reserve seats for April 21 departing from Chur at 8:28 arriving at Tirano 12:49. After doing some research, I’ve decided to go on the panoramic train, first class using my Eurail Pass. The results I am getting from different sites is confusing me. The Eurail site tells me “Prices for this journey will start to be available 60 days before departure.” The help on the page says I can book at the following site, but that one seems to indicate that I can book BUT there’s only 4 seats left on the train On the other hand, the OBB site says tickets not available And Rail Europe says it’s available 

I’m not sure what I need to do on this trip and am after a bit of direction. I have a 1st class Eurail pass and one of the trips I want to do is Pordenone to Vienna on May 2. The planner shows this to be a 6 hour 29 minute trip including a trip on RJ132 high speed train. All the other trips I’ve looked at, and booked, involving high speed train travel cost upwards for 40AUD to reserve a seat. This trip seems to show 3 - 6 Euro depending on the web site and the Eurail site shows it to be free??? It also shows prices for 3 different classes, 1st, 1st Business and 2nd. I’m not sure what it’s trying to tell me. I thought 1st and 1st business were essentially the same. What do I get for zero, and does the fact that the list includes a price for 2nd class mean that I can downgrade on this leg, even thoughI have already purchased a 1st class pass? I’m very confused!  

Which is the best web site to book the 1:12 PM Paris Nord - 2:30 PM London St-Pancras on May 22?According to the Eurail web site, “Prices for this journey will start to be available 180 days before departure.” May 22 is less than 180 days from now so those prices should just about be there. The only other site I could find that would accept a booking was www.b-europe.com but that doesn’t seem to accept Eurail as a discount so the price shows as 218 Euro for a 1st class Mid Flex. . Is that the one I should be booking?

The 30/12 to 02/01 I'll be not far from Liechtenstein and I would love to discover 🇱🇮 But it seems quite difficult because I can't find any transportation the 30 and 31. 🤔 Do you know why ?  If your a traveller near (Bodensee) Lake Konstanz or Liechtenstein I would love to meet you ( discover some places, have a coffee, talk etc ) 💃🏻

For reference I have tried all Swiss border points today using my pass. Looks like it works as intented.Does not trigger :- Geneva - Bellegarde and further- Geneva - Annemasse and further (even though Annemasse is the official border point)- Vallorbe - Dole and further- Basel SBB - Mulhouse and further- Basel SBB - Freiburg (Breisgau) Hbf and further- Basel Bad Bf - Lörrach (stations listed as being in Germany while they're not)- Basel Bad Bf - Schaffhausen- Schaffhausen - Singen- St. Margrethen SG - Bregenz- Buchs SG - Feldkirch- Chiasso - MilanTriggers :- Neuchâtel/Travers - Pontarlier : Les Verrières (Fr) is the border point, no stop but you can get a ticket at counters (I tried)- Le Locle - Morteau and further : Le Locle (Fr) is the border point. I’d like to make the following trip but on this web site it says I have to break the trip down into 2 trips because I don’t need to reserve a seat on the first leg. Other sites seem to suggest that I can book the entire journey. My understanding is that if I book the entire journey and the first leg runs late, it’s up to the carrier to help me get a connecting train without penalty. But if I do as this site suggests and break the trip down into two legs and the first train runs late, then I lose my reservation cost on the second leg. Is my understanding correct? Should I book the trip on another site that allows the whole journey to be booked, or would it be safe to break it down?

I have been told that the sleeper for the Prague to Zurich is currently only available till mid Feb. I intend checking regularly until the 9/5/2024 booking is available, but in the meantime I want to make sure I choose the right train and right booking method. On an earlier question I was told “This can be booked at https://www.nightjet.com/ train number is EN 50466 Add Interrail/Eurail as discount for each passenger and search to get passholder fare. Cost for 2 in private sleeper is €116 or €156 for en-suite sleeper.” The one I want is the cost for 2 in an en-suite sleeper.So if I go to nightjet.com and enter a date in early Feb (to see how it works) I select adults and load my discount, it gives me the following options. Hi,I am travelling saturday morning (in 36 jours) from Lyon to Zürich and then have my intinerary planned. I just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything.So tomorrow I just have to go to the train station and find the train I saw on my interrail app and saved in « my trip » then simply hop on the train ? If someone talks to me on board, I just have to show them the QR code on the app for that trip since it’s marked that « seat reservations are optional » right? That’s it? Is there anything else I have to know or do? Do I need to print something ? All the trains I chose do not require seat reservation and I am planning to buy an external battery to make sure I always have my data for controls.

Quick question - Paris to Geneva 21st May '24 showing as bookable on SNCF site - but interrail (shows times but says - "Prices for this journey will start to be available 90 days before departure" - I just need a seat reservation.I guess this means the interrail allocation hasn't been made available yet.... is this correct? Hi, I want to book the Bernina Express from Tirano to Chur and one day later from Chur to Tirano. I've read that from Tirano to Chur (so from south to north) you best book seats on the left side and from Chur to Tirano (north to south) best on the right side. But… when I want to book, they are saying “No information on the driving direction is available.” so I have no clue what's the left or right side of the train. Now I was thinking maybe I'd best book one directions on one side of the train and the way back on the other side, so at least one way we will enjoy the best view, but this is of course only valid if the train does not turn around, which I actually highly doubt it does. Can someone confirm if the train turns around or not? Or does someone know which seat number are on which side of the train? Any other tips for booking the Bernina Express? Thanks!! Silke 

I am after a little help to make sure I don’t mess up making my first, and most complex booking. I have ordered, but not activated, a Eurail 1st class pass with 15 days travel over 2 months. The booking I want to make is:Prague to Zurich night train (the one via Austria)Departing May 9, arriving May 10, 2024I want to travel in the same compartment as my wife.I am unsure of the cost or options available.I’d like to have a private ensuite, toilet at least, if it’s not overly expensive.We’d prefer a two person compartment, without sharing with strangers, if that’s not too expensive.I would like some guidance as to which web site to use to make the booking, and ensure I chose the right train, the one via Austria.Also, how do I ascertain the costs of the various options?Thanks in advance for your guidance.

wenn ich mein interrail pass aktiviere obwohl ich in 10 tagen anreise wie ist das dann? ist es 1 monat lang gültig? mein pass ist 7 tägig?? wie ist es? muss ich es direkt benutzen nach dem aktivieren? ich werde nur zweimal fahren kann ich dann bis 20. januar noch 5 mal mein ticket benutzen ?

I have booked 4 interrail global passes and want to travel from Stockholm to Narvik on 2nd Jan.I’m struggling to book seats or a sleeper.  Interrail and rail Ninja show that there is availability but the SJ website show the trains are fully booked for the next few weeks. Every time I go to reserve the seats through the my internal booking, the prices show but it won’t let me proceed. I am also really unsure how many are in each berth. I want to ensure my family of 4 travel together. I’m really hoping someone might be able to help as I’ve spent ages and feel I’m going round in circles and getting nowhere! Many thanks

Bonjour, juste une question par rapport au voyage de Paris est jusqu'à Berlin. Sur le voyage proposé ils proposent un itinéraire avec un transfert court indiqué de weinheim hbf à Potsdam hbf de 7 min à pied seulement je ne vois pas comment cela est possible. Je vous remercie

Hiya! I am trying to get seat reservations for the night jet going from Rome to Munich on the 26th of December to surprise my friend but the only available seats are $300 USD when it says upwards of $16? I feel as though I am doing something wrong but I swear I have tried everything 

First time in the forum here,I tried to book night trains for our 2024 summer travel Yet, I don’t seem to be able to book the train from Vienna to Venice for June 23 2024. The calendar became greyed out after June 16 2024. I did read on the Eurail Night train page that the night train from Munich to Rome is not run from June 12th through August 9th, 2024. I see no blackout dates for the night train from Vienna to Venice, so not sure what happened. I was under the impression that the new train schedule was released on December 10, but does it mean we will have to wait a bit closer to 180 days for reserving the cabins?? Thank you
