I am scratching my head to figure out the reservation system of RENFE trains, after some research I found out that this is an extremely complicated topic. Some questions that I’m not sure of: 1. Obligatory ReservationAs far as I understand, almost all trains in Spain require a reservation. The only exceptions are (a) suburb commuter service - aka Cercanias (or Rodalies in Catalunya) and (b) some regional trains - aka Media Distancia. (a) Regarding Cercanias trains : While I know reservation is not needed (and not possible), I cannot find the connection on railplanner app. For example, I am looking at the C1 service from Alicante to Murcia. Can anyone confirm this is indeed reservation-free ?(b) Regarding Media Distancia trains : These trains usally reqire seat reservations. Between touristy cities the only free connections I found are Barcelona - Valencia, Valencia - Alicante, Barcelona - Zaragoza - Marid. No luck finding one in Andalucia. I have the impression that the reservation-fre
Hi everyone!I am checking on the Deutschland-Ticket (49 Euro per month) for German local, public transports.I am little confused about the validity time and cancellation here.So if I would like to travel in Germany in December, I can buy the ticket now (13. Dec)? And it will work immediately this month? What if I don’t need it in January next year, so I can cancel it by the end of December? Or there are some time deadlines for the cancellation? Thanks very much!
I have some issues with booking a ticket from london to Edinburgh on the 24th of june. Is it because those tickets simply aren't available yet? Also why can't you get the reservation on the interrail site, do you have to do it on another site? And if that's the case how do i select that i already bought an interrail and only need a seat reservation. Hope somebody can awnser me with this since im very new to this and could use some help.
We’re landing in Paris in a week, and bought Eurail passes for our family of 4 to get to Switzerland and spend a couple weeks there. However, we just found out last night that we need to reserve TGV tickets as this is our first time doing the train. eurail.com gives us an error every time we try to check in: Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later or find another connection. This connection will be removed from your cart. We’ve tried different computers, cleaning cookies, etc., so the problem doesn’t seem to be with our computers as Eurail customer support intimated.Calling SNCF did not yield results either. They only accept European credit cards, and American Express. We have neither. Are there any other options? We REALLY do not want to rent a car but it’s starting to seem like the only viable option.
I have been caught up in the very last minute German train strike today (I assume like many other travelers). Does anyone know if DB will automatically accept passes valid for today when travelling tomorrow/next day?The DB website says all DB and international tickets for today are valid for future dates, no need to do anything, but doesn’t specifically mention rail passes.I was booked to travel today Chur-Basel-Stuttgart. I have an active travel day for today but have not been able to get any trains from Basel to Stuttgart. I don’t hold out any hope of further compensation/ hotels etc but will I at least be able to use pass for onward travel and just show old activated day?
Agradeceré ayuda para saber como reservar asientos de manera online para el tramos Barcelona- Madrid, usando el Eurailpass. Gracias
Hello, I am planning to travel with family of 5 persons. Looks like seat reservation costs are per person per train. Going from The Netherlands to south of Spain will take 3 high speed trains to Madrid.Amsterdam - Paris €35 Paris - Barcelona €35 Barcelona - Madrid €10 or €23,50 => €20 TOTAL €90=> Are these costs per seat or per reservation of 5 seats ?If it is per seat, that would be 5 persons x €90 x 2 (return trip) = €900 for seat reservations only 😳 !!!Are there ways to minimize these costs??
According to Seat61, the Berner Oberland Bahn is now accepting Eurail/ Interrail passes. (It previously only gave a 25% discount).Great news if true 👍Interlaken to Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen. Now fully covered.https://x.com/seatsixtyone/status/1734137475222716892?s=46

Hi- Looking for recommendations on best way to book trip for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) from Bayeux, France to Market Harborough, UK (1hr north of london) in mid June. We have 1st class Eurail passes (mobile). I think I have some parts figured out but could use input on a few things.Per Google maps, we can take get there in 3 main steps (all in one day):1- 930 am TER train from Bayeux, France to Gare St Lazare in Paris (1200) , then transfer to RER E- go one stop to get to Gare du Nord to pickup the Eurostar to London St Pancras 2- 1512 pm Eurostar to London St Pancras3- EMR train from London St Pancras to Market Harborough, UKHere are my questions:I know our Eurail pass will get us through legs 1+2 of the trip. Is it valid on EMR trains in UK (leg 3) since the 3 legs will be within a single day of travel? I searched and couldnt get a definitive answer. If pass is valid on leg 3 of trip to Market Harborough, would you recommend a reservation for that one hour ride since our Eu
Hi everyone, I have recently purchased a 10-days Eurail pass but I haven't decided my travel plans. This is the first time i am planning to travel solo and I have very little experience of European trains. I will most probably visit germany for 3 days from Belgium (Cologne, Heidelberg, Frankfurt) but I am not sure where should i go next from Frankfurt. Can you recommend me any other destination from there or train which i can cover in 3 to 4 days? Thanks
I have never purchased a Eurail pass before. I am traveling from Barcelona to Logrono, Spain. I want to take the train at 8:45am and it arrives in Logrono at 12:52pm. That’s the only train time that works for me. On the return one week later, I need to go from Logrono, Spain to Barcelona airport. Again, only one time that works, the 7:30am train, arriving at 1pm to airport. I can see the different train companies online to buy a ticket directly from the individual train company. Do I also need to get a Eurail pass? I’m not sure what I will be doing regarding traveling within the week I’m there, but I expect I will be staying in the Logrono area the who time. Thank you for your help in explaining what I need to purchase.
I have a 1 month pass which I’ve already activated and purchased reserved seats. I now want to start my pass 1 day earlier but I’m concerned that if I deactivate the pass and then reactivate it starting a day earlier I will lose the train trips I’ve already booked.
I want to take the train for one day only from Milan Italy to Munich Germany, and I would Mike benefit from the price of purchasing a pass. Any suggestions? Thanks
Will be traveling to Vienna next Saturday and plan on some trips to Melk, Salzburg, Brno, Bratislava and Budapest by rail. Any major issues to be concerned with of the last two weeks of December? Any help is appreciated.
Can I use eurail Austria Pass for the OBB night jet from Vienna to Buchs SG?If yes, is “Interrail / Eurai - Globalpass” the discount option to select?thank you!
I'm trying to book a seat in April 2024. This is less than 180days so why am I getting the message in red text?
I have a consecutive twin german pass for 4 days(before activation).I need to exchange my pass to the pass for 3 days because of the strike in germany.I can’t postpone my journey because my return flight is 4 days later. How can I get my ticket exchanged or refunded with full fare(not 85%)?And because of the situation, I want Eurail deal with this right now.
Trying to book a 1st Class Reservation for 2 on the 24th from Nuremberg to Salzburg. Also from Salzburg to Stuttgart on the 26. Just end up getting error messages at check-out. Does this indicate full trains as I’ve tried a number of different departure times.Didn’t have any issues with any other legs of my trip. In and out of Austria is the only thing tripping me up. Help!
Hello,Can we get financial compensation when our journey is cancelled due to strike action?I was supposed to do Copenagh - Berlin on 8 December but this is impossible due to strikes. Thank you for your help, Clément
Hi, we bought a Global Pass for three travelers. Some train trips have now been booked with seat reservations. However, since we are travelling from Bern or Basel to Prague at night, I can see some glitches or differences on the website timings and app planner. This has been added to our trip list since we opted for the no-reservation option. However, upon using the website today, this is now showing with a seat requirement. Will there be any chance to book a seat at the main station?
