Get ready to travel

Hello!I am travelling Europe at the end of the Year, and have a Global Eurail Pass, but quite a few of the journeys I want to take, require seat reservations. I was able to book a few reservations through the Eurail website and also through the B-Europe website. However, on the 17th of December, I need to travel from London to Brussels, and on the Eurail Website it says that prices are unavailable and on B-europe it says that there are no journeys on that day, so I suspect that journey is sold out? However, on the 11th of January, I need to travel from Copenhagen to Prague, and on the 15th of January I need to travel from Prague to Frankfurt. Similarly, the Eurail website says that the prices are unavailable but I’ve looked and it seems I can book the seat reservations through the DSB or DB website, but it never asks me to add in my Eurail pass number, like the b-europe website did, when I go to purchase the seat reservations. Im planning on going from budapest to vienna using the eurail global pass. I was told it was better to book directly from the train website.So i went to the OBB page. Here with the pass i have the ticket for free but can also make seat reservations for free on first class.My question is do i need a first class pass to make this reservation or i can still do it with the second class pass.Thanks.

Good evening everybody,I purchased 2 passes on March 26th and I have the option to activate it by February 26th 2024. I was wondering if once active, I could postpone my travel to any date or if there are deadlines to respect. Hallo! Ich starte meine Reise bereits aus dem Ausland und fahre in mein Heimatland und bleibe dort auch eine Nacht. Für diese Reise würde ich jedoch ungern bereits meinen “Inbound” nutzen. Kann ich in der App meine Reise bis an die Grenze planen (der geplante Zug hält dort auch) und ab der Grenze dann ein gewöhnliches Ticket für mein Heimatland kaufen?Am nächsten Tag fahre ich dann wieder ins Ausland und einige Tage später wieder zurück ins Heimatland, wobei ich bei diesen zwei Fahrten dann meinen “In- und Outbond” nutzen wollen würde.

My husband and I have purchased the 4 day pass (1st class). We will be travelling during winter (late Dec - early Jan). We are planning on using our 4x day pass to travel between the following locations:Zurich to Zermatt (day trip return) Czech Republic to Poland Poland to Austria Austria to HungaryWhat do you recommend doing if we want to travel by public transport within cities? Or where is the best place to start our research? We’d like to travel within the following locations: Within Zurich Within Prague  Within Krakow AND Krakow to Auschwitz Within Vienna AND Vienna to Hallstatt  Within Budapest Within Ljubljana

Hello! Planning to book travel direct from Budapest to Zagreb on the IC204 route (train/bus 6.5 hr) in Jan 2024 but have noticed that this service isn't listed during that month at all. Does anyone know if there are upcoming changes to the route, as I can see this is available to book for the next few weeks, or whether it is too early and yet to be available for seat reservations?Thanks :)

Hi! So, we will be traveling to Zagreb from Bonn  on Friday and the next monday we well be returning and we have left 3 day passes. My partner  has a printed global pass that she bought in Cologne and I have the mobile global pass. My doubts are regarding the use of the 3 days left. So: Friday: Bonn-stuttgart on an ICE train and then Stuttgart -Zagreb on a sleep train that we already have a reservation for. First doubt: according to what I understand this will only take one day travel as we will be boarding the train on Stuttgart on Friday, the same day we parted from Bonn. Am i correct?On monday we will take the sleeper train from Zagreb to Stuttgart so we will be arriving on Tuesday and then we will take an ICE train to Bonn. Second doubt: this will take our two final days of traveling as there will be the trip from Zagreb and the next day the trip to Bonn. My husband and I are planning on travelling across Europe for 1 month (Dec - Jan). What pass do you recommend for the following itinerary?Should we buy a EURAIL pass for the international trains and a local train pass OR day trip tickets to travel within cities?6 days Zurich (Switzerland) Zurich to Zermatt (day trip return) 3 days in Prague (Czech Republic) Prague (Czech Republic) to Krakow (Poland) - International  3 days in Krakow (Poland) Krakow to Auschwitz (day trip return)  Krakow (Poland) to Vienna (Austria) - International  4 days in Vienna (Austria) Vienna to Hallstatt (overnight and then return trip) Vienna (Austria) to Budapest (Hungary) - International  4 days Budapest (Hungary) 4 days Ljubljana (Slovenia)

Sometimes I see that there are no reservations to Lille but some available to Brussels. If the train is stopping at Lille there seems no reason not to book the reservation to Brussels and leave at Lille. Obviously only if the train is scheduled to stop at Lille, hence the title.

My husband and I have purchased the 4 day pass (1st class). We will be travelling during winter (late Dec - early Jan). If the train says ‘seat reservation not required’, can we just use our pass to sit within the 1st or 2nd class carriage?  If the train says ‘seat reservation recommendation’, can we not reserve the seat and use our pass to sit within the 1st or 2nd class carriage? Is the primary benefit of buying a 1st class pass so that you get access to sit in 1st or 2nd class carriages, and of course if a seat is available in 1st class you can the added benefits such as extra space and comfortable seating?  How does priority check-in work with the 1st class pass?    

Im looking to book a trip form vienna to venice on a sleeper train th 16th of january. The rail planner app has the time of the train but you cant make a reservation. It says that you can also go to the obb website. In the website the prices are not available. From what i have seen the prices should be up 180 days in advance. Does anyone know how when will they be available?Thanks.

Is there any way around the schengen visa requirement of reserving a hotel iternary. I wanted to use a eurail as the focus and deciding where to put your head on a whim. Eurail trains do offer sleepovers. One can find short term accommodation with ease. If there no way around this. Will I have to come up with a 30 nightime hostel/hotel revesations?

Which route is the most popular for the view in Interlaken?

My son and his best friend (22 and 23) are trying to get from Prague to Basel or Bern on Nov 24, 25, or 26 and eventually to Thun. They have eurail passes. The overnight train looked possible, but when you search Prague to Bern, there’s an issue with the last leg. When I search Prague to Basel, I don’t see the first leg of the prior trip and can’t book it. When I pick other stops, there’s only a paper ticket option, and they’re currently in Lisbon and bouncing around so mailing is not an option. Can they go in person to any train station and pick up a paper ticket?  I’ve searched other trains and there’s one that’s insane—$1300 per ticket. The flight is $500 plus, and I was looking for that over night sleeper experience. 

I like to make a reservation on the TGV train Brussel midi to Lyon Part Dieu. I just cant figure out on which platform i can do this? On b-europe i cant find the connection just under seat reservations and on the  site of France is of course only the French cities you can find. Can someone tell me where i actually can make the seat reservation for this train?kinds regards,Tania

Dear Community members, We have one travel day left in Eurail pass and last day of our trip - 14th of November - we are planning we spend in Disneyland. I am looking on the option to spend our last travel day for travelling from Marne la Valle to Airport Charles de Gaulle but seat reservation is quite expensive, it is showing to me around 80euros for 4 of us. Our flight is scheduled for 11AM. Is seat reservation is really required if the travel time is only 10 minutes? Can we enter the train with Eurail ticket without seat reservation?

I want to book two reservations on the 10:52 train from Stuttgart to Paris on Wednesday December 27 but the response on the Interrail Reservations site is always the same - "Bad RequestYour browser sent a request that this server could not understand.Size of a request header field exceeds server limit." Please can you help - how can I make this reservation? We both have Interrail passes. I have tried via the DB site - but they will only book trains within Germany not into France. The Belgium site will only do Eurostar trains. The French SNCF site doesn’t accept Interrail passes.   

Good Morning,We are a family of 4 living in London.  We using London as our hub as I need to back in the city for work during the week. So we doing trips Friday through Sunday to different Countries.  Are we able to use a Monthly Pass and travel from London to multiple cities. Of course we’ll pick a pass which allows us to access the countries we want to go to. Example would be;Week 1 London to Paris back to LondonWeek 2 London to Brussels  back to LondonWeek 3 London to Amsterdam back to London

Total noobie question: I have mapped out our trip in Spain.  We will have four travel days in the month.  When I price each leg, a first class ticket is about $16USD, so $32USD for my husband and I.  Four trips would cost $128USD.  A four day Eurail pass for seniors costs more than $700USD.  What am I missing?  Are there benefits to the Eurail pass that I am not taking into consideration?  Or are Eurail passes not cost effective for short intercity trips (Barcelona → Valencia, Valencia→Madrid, Madrid →Cordoba, Cordoba-→Granada)Thanks for any insight!
