Get ready to travel

Hi, all:We are 4 people likely to be taking day trips from Oslo to Hamar and Oslo to Larvik/Skien.  We know we need to make reservations for the famous Oslo-Myrdal (Flam) trip, but what about these “less popular” and shorter trips?  Do we need reservations?  Note:  We will be there in September and have global Eurail passes.Thank you.

Hello,On the interrail planner it says there is a “replacement bus” between Püspökladany (Hu) and Oradea (Ro). on August 5 2023.But the Deutsche Bahn planner, and MAV-planner say there are just regular trains going.Since im not looking forward to sit 3,5 hours in a bus, i was wondering: WHICH planner is right?? Has anyone an idea about this?kind regards, Martijn - The Netherlands

So we are all getting excited to head to Europe on the 10th, but our attempts to share the trip from one Rail Planner app to another results in the link just opening the browser. When we click the button to add it to the app, it just refreshes the browser window with the same options.When my daughter does exactly the same with a trip she creates, my phone immediately offers the option to import to my Rail Planner app - no browser window. It then successfully adds the trip to my list.Both are iPhones running the same iOS and RailPlanner app version.Any help would be appreciated!

l am allowed one outward and return journey  in my home country. l want to to use eurostar from st pancras. but l am travelling from shrewsbury. Can that be included as part of one journey  ie shrewsbury to Paris  for example ?

Il y a quand même un très gros problème sur Railplanner. J ai besoin de 3 réservations Paris Karlsruhe sur début octobre, ce n est pas ouvert alors qu à la même date l année dernière ça l était.. D autre part, sur le site Sncf connect, il ne reste que 5 places de dispo pour notre heure, mais bien sûr on ne peut pas réserver avec un pass Interrail, et pas par téléphone non plus.. C est un peu archaïque... 

Where can I buy this supplement fee? I have global pass, and travelling with nightjet from munich to Venice. I have booked a couchette, but have not seen anywhere I need to pay anything above that. But now heard people being charged on the train. Travelled 2 years ago munich-bologna and wasn't charged anything else but the sleeper wagon. Regards Karina  

Ich möchte nächstes Jahr ggf.mit dem Interrail(Global)Ticket nach Istanbul. Soweit ich weiß liegt diese Stadt auf 2 Kontinenten(Europa &Asien).Daher die Frage,wo da die Grenze ist,oder ob Istanbul trotzdem komplett bereist werden kann.Vielen Dank bereits vorab, Klaus 

We have ‘15Days in 2 months 2nd Class’ Eurail Global Pas. We will be travelling from Prague HBF (Prague Hlavni Nadrazi) → Budapest-Keleti Budapest-Keleti → Vienna Hbf (Wien Hauptbahnhof Vienna)Seat reservation are optional for both. No reservation allows for change of plan. Reservation ensures seating especially long journey from Prague to Budapest.Should we reserve seats or not?

Hello I am planning to Travel from Bologna to Istanbul.I will arrive in “Bucuresti Nord” at 15:05 and plan to take the Bosphorus Express on the day after at 10:50.I read in this forum that I have to buy tickets for the latter in the Bucuresti station (I should have plenty of time)What I don’t understand is how the reservation works.On the interrail website it says that a single cabin sleeper is € 77 on top of the interrail passhttps://www.interrail.eu/en/plan-your-trip/tips-and-tricks/trains-europe/night-trains/bosphorus-express-night-train But on the Seat61 website I can see that the price for the same route without interrail pass is €63:https://www.seat61.com/trains-and-routes/bucharest-and-sofia-to-istanbul-by-train.htm The reason why I ask this question, is because If the reservation with interrail Pass is similar to buy a ticket on my own, I will just buy it on my own and save a day.So my questions are:1) can you confirm that it is possible to buy Bosphorus Express tickets in Bucu

Hi my country of residence is UK and I have a uk passport, I also have a polish passport. So I have dual nationality.I live in uk but not sure if I should put my country of residence as UK or Poland ? As will that restrict me at the borders if I put I am from uk ? I am planning to be entering countries on my polish passport to avoid all visa issues...thanks so much in advance I am travelling in 3 days so need to know as soon as possible what to go with  

I am new to THE EURAIL Pass system, having purchased one for 7 travel days in a month.  Is the main purpose of the Pass to provide a discount off the full fare?  That is, after purchasing the Pass one still needs to pay an amount for the ticket?   If so, what is the estimated discount percent?For example, I made a reservation for travel from Paris to Geneva in September at $42.51 plus a booking fee of $4.36.  Does this make sense under the Pass?  

I plan a trip for two people from Porto to Switzerland, stopping in Lisbon, Faro, Seville, Madrid and Narbonne. The trip will be in August. I noticed that seat reservations for Portuguese trains are only possible at Portuguese stations. Since my planning does not allow me to arrive at the first train station (Porto) more than a few hours in advance, I would like to know how full the trains are in Portugal in August. I saw that on the day I want to take the train in Porto, there are a approximately a train every hour. I would like to know if I need to prepare a backup plan in the case that all trains are full. Anyone could give me a piece of information? Best regards.

Hi, i entered the wrong validity period, and it will expire the 8th of july while my trip will start the same day. Is is possible ti change it or will I have to but a new one?

There is one thing I find quite confusing in the Passes for kids description https://www.interrail.eu/en/interrail-passes/deals/free-travel-kidsIt’s states that a child can travel with any adult. But it doesn’t state if the adult must be traveling with an Interrail ticket too, or if it must be the same adult that has bought the Interrail ticket? 

Hi,We are from Australia and have no recent experience with European train travel other than managing to catch the Eurostar from London to Paris last Sunday.We are catching the 9.40am train from Paris to Barcelona this Saturday leaving from Paris Gare Lyon. What time should we arrive at Paris Gare Lyon? We prefer to leave ample time so that we are not stressed, have a bit of contingency time. We are travelling with four children (aged 10-15) and have four suitcases.Also do I assume correctly that this train originates in Paris, and that therefore there will be ample boarding time?

Ayuda, quiero comprar el pase de 22 dias para viajar a varios paises en tren ahora en julio, sin embargo, tengo duda respecto a si es necesario reservar asiento en todos los viajes, ya que si me quedo sin puesto no tengo problema en viajar de pie (si es un viaje de 2 hrs), pero si no hay puestos me dejarán subir??

My question is regarding the extra fee some railway companies (in this case in France and Spain) require you to pay for travelling with your pet. Once I have my Interrail pass and made my seat reservations, how can I pay the fee for my pet? Can I do it at each station directly?Best!Alex

Hi. We have booked trains from Budapest to Istanbul on a Eurail pass on the 4th of July. Its says seat reservations are required but we unable book seats even though the cost of it appears, We cannot physically reserve seats

I am planning a trip throughout france and switzerland. when i search the eurorail website, fast trains are not included, and they show me 5 to 6 hour travel times.  but when i do a basic google search, shorter trips (2 or 3 hours) are available on the  same partner railways.  if the fast trains for the partner rails are excluded, i may consider spending extra for shorter travel times and buy individual ticket. 

I‘ve made a mistake!I‘m going to travel with my son (10). We have got. the 7-days-global-pass.I wanted to start the journey yesterday, but he became ill. Stomach! 🙈So I deactivated the first trip, I thougt so: I just deactivated MY pass, I forgot to deactivate the trip on my son‘s pass. So for him the first travel day (1/7), the one out of the country, is already used.How can I change that? Can somebody from the staff change it for me? Because my son obviosly HASN‘T TRAVELLED YET! I saw it by chance, filling in the new trip, because the child finally feels well again and I want to start travelling in three hours…I will get in trouble on the train! Don‘t I?Thanks a lot.

Hello!  l have a little over 2 weeks to do some solo traveling in Europe from roughly July 15th - Aug 1st 2023. This is a spontaneous trip (like all of mine usually are). I've used the trains in northern Italy and Japan when tourism was very low. My concern on this trip is having issues with seat reservations. Id like to start in London take the PO ferry to France (from dover to calais) and then take a train to Paris, Lyons, Marseille, and end in Barcelona. I don't want to set my schedule in stone, and I may spend more days in certain cities depending on the circumstances. Is this route possible to do spontaneously or will the trains on these routes be completely booked in advance?Thanks for the suggestions,  Dan
