Get ready to travel

Hi everyone, My boyfriend lives in a non-European country and I live in an European country. To my knowledge, if we would like to travel together by train, he has to get an Eurail pass and I have to get an Interrail pass, but the passes are essentially the same just a different name(?) However, I’m wondering if this will lead to any problems along the way, for example with making reservations. Do we both have to do that separately or is there a way we can still do it together? Or is it not really necessary to make bookings together anyway? I have tried looking for a similar questions but I didn’t manage to find it. But I’m sorry if this has already been asked before.Thanks in advance! 

Hello,I posted a few days ago regarding availability of the night train from Stockholm to Narvik on December 11th.  We have continued to check the schedules every day and this morning tickets are available!! (YAY!) My next question, why are there no 1st class berths available?  Am I searching incorrectly? Is it possible that the train only has 2nd class private sleeper berths? We are ok with 2nd class, but the private bathroom offered in 1st class would be our preference if it is available.  Am I missing something? I’ve checked on both Vy and SJ. Any help is appreciated! 

Hi,  We have planned a 2 week trip around Europe with no real problems, but we cannot book the seat from Malmo to Stockholm (planned for mid July).  We have tried various sites including Interrail and SJ.SE, but no joy.We have the one month interrail pass, which we have done all our other planning on successfully.  It feels like we are just missing a dropdown box or tick box :-( regardsMike

I am considering taking a night train from Munchen to Paris, which departs at 00:04. If I take another night train from Paris to Marseille the same day, in the evening, does it count as one or two traveling days? Does it matter they are both sleeping trains?

On the website it says that when I arrive in Patras by ferry, I will have to take a bus and a train to get to Piraeus. Where can I find the bus and train timetables? Can't find anything online. How do I know for sure that there will be?

I  am Jyoti, I was using my Eurail pass (one day) to travel to Amsterdam from Berlin. It's a monthly pass with 4 days travel with EU. You can activate the day you want to travel within the pass, the day you want to travel. I added my journey yesterday from Berlin to Amsterdam via train ICE 140 i.e on 7th May 2023, departing at 16:05 from Berlin HBF. The train was cancelled on reaching Hannover HBF. Since, it was already very late i.e. around 21:00 once the train cancellation was informed and officially train was closed- I decided to return back to Berlin. I couldn't contact the customer service in Hannover since already around 100+ people were standing in line to collect a refund or stay in Hannover.  The reason I am am reaching out here is that in  my Eurail Pass - there is only 1 inbound and outbound journey for my home country. Since I used it yesterday on this train, I cannot use it anymore. So, I request to please let me know how to proceed in this manner?

My understanding is:(a) Eurailpasses are NOT valid on Heathrow Express(b) as almost always with local suburban rail operators, Eurailpasses are similarly NOT valid on London Underground (‘Tube’) trains (and buses/trams)however:© Eurailpasses ARE VALID on the newly opened Elizabeth Line (Transport for London) between say London Heathrow Airport terminals and Paddington, or elsewhere on the route (though once one tries to connect to the Tube, one would have to have a valid Oyster Pass issued by TfL.(d) Similarly, Eurailpasses “may” be valid on London Overground trains.Is the latter - c and d- correct?If so, where can one have a Paper Eurailpass validated at Heathrow?  Will a TfL staffed booking office do it?

I’m trying to book a train from Utrecht central to Berlin on the 5th of August. I can add the reservations to my cart but when i go to book it says ‘one of your legs is unavailable’. I saw on pervious replies you can use the OBB website to book seat reservations. I’m just wondering how that works in terms of booking seat and not having a proper ticket??

Hello,Me and my friends are going an Interrail through Austria, Poland and Germany this summer so we would like to book our seats in advance.  We need 2 seat reservations, more specifically; From WIEN HBF to KRAKOW GLOWNY on 6th july KRAKOW GLOWNY to BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ on 9th july But on the interrail app we can’t make any reservations. If we go to the national train websites we also get the notification that tickets are not available. Can anybody help us?? We don’t know what to do. Thanks in advance!!

I have purchased a Eurail France pass ( not Eurail global Pass) for 2 days in a month. I plan to travel from Paris to Geneva and return journey (Geneva to Paris). Will this pass allow me to take trains within this route or I need a Eurail Global pass for travelling to Geneva? 

Hi everyone, I recently had a strange experience while using my Eurail pass for the first time. My friend visited a rail station to reserve tickets for our upcoming travels from Rome to Florence and Monterosso to Milano, and the lady at the counter asked for our pass numbers, stating that we would still be eligible for a discount on these travels. The lady then reserved the tickets for us at a total cost of €35 for two trips and two people. It's worth noting that these two travels are not happening during the four days that we have already reserved. However, I am still unsure whether this is accurate information or whether we can indeed avail of a discount on these travels, even though our passes are already fully reserved for four days. I want to make sure that we are following the correct procedures and not violating any rules or regulations. I contacted Italia Rail regarding this issue, but they advised me to contact Eurail directly for clarification. Hello, on the 31st of July I’m planning to travel from Bordeaux St Jean to Girona (Viajeros). I already made seat reservations, but when looking at dates in May, I see we (2 persons) could travel for cheaper by not taking the TGV from Narbonne to Girona. (The tickets that I already bought indicate that I can cancel without a fee.) We would then travel via Port-Bou. But unfortunately there is no train planning yet for July… Does anyone know a good app to see which trains there are on this day (when the planning is available)? And has anyone experience with the schedules in Spain and if they change often? We would like to save some money, but for us it wouldn’t be worth a 3 hour transfer in Narbonne for example.I know there are quite some questions, but if you can help me (a little bit), I would be greatful :)

Hello, me and my friend thinking of buying a 7 days pass but we are stuck at something. I would be more than glad if somene would help us. We are planning to travel with night trains, the starting destination is poland because thats where we live and we are planning to travel to berlin from poland, then amsterdam, paris, madrid, rome, switzerland and going back to poland once again. When I add these on my plan on the website it says 8 days but we will be only travelling 7 days because of night trains. I am aware that I can seperate these travels but why does it say 8 instead of 7 days because from poland to berlin only one day is counted am i wrong? We are going to be travelling soon please help us. Does that mean that I have to take one of the destinations out?

What does it mean when you see n/a next to 1st class on reservations

Hello! One question: In the web of cd.cz the train from Budapest to Stuttgart shows one transfer in Augsburg (screenshot one) but the Interrail web says it’s direct (second screenshot).   

I am on the trip planner map trying to organize a route from my travel from Dec. 26 to Jan 2. Any dates after December 31, it says invalid date and I can’t figure out why. Can I not book for 2024 yet?
