Get ready to travel

if i don't buy a seat reservation on trains that requires it, can I just take that train and don't sit on a seat whitout getting in any troubles? 

I am going to travel this summer and was wondering if an outbound and inbound trip count as travel days. I have booked the 7 travel days in 1 month pass. Does that mean that after the trip from home to my first destination I still have 7 travel days left, or just 6 travel days? thanks! Meike

We want to do an interrail, starting in Germany and going forward to Scotland to do some hiking/ camping there (for aprox. 3-4 weeks in August).Are there any things we have to watch out?Do we need reservations for the trains in Scotland or just for the trains to get there? Are there recommended routes for our trip?

Not able to get seat reservations through Eurail on any popular lines in June (London-Paris, vice versa, Paris-Caen, Paris-Munich, Amsterdam-London). Why did I buy a Eurail Pass? Pretty useless.

Hi there,I'm planning my Interrail trip for next summer. The idea is to travel from the Netherlands to Ancona or Bari (Italy) and from there take the ferry to Albania.Now it seems nice to travel to München by day train and from there take the night train to Ancona. However, I'm struggling with the ICE reservations. The most convenient route would be to take the 08.34 ICE 105 from Utrecht Centraal to Mannheim and change to the 12.30 ICE 595 to München (preferred date 10 July). Now, via the "seat only" option on the Deutsche Bahn website, I try to reserve seats for said trains. The ICE 595 seems to work fine, but for the ICE 105 it says "Reservation temporarily not possible". I've tried several times over the course of 1-2 weeks so it seems persistent and not temporary.Another option is the 11.04 ICE 123 from Utrecht to Cologne/Köln and from there the 13.55 ICE 519 to München. Seat reservations for both ICE 123 and ICE 519 can be booked just fine. So it's probably not (a) that I'm too ea

I just found out that I purchased a 15 day pass for 15 days. We thought it was 15 days in 30 days. yikes.I see I can buy a new pass and then refund the original one. I am worried about my reservations I bought for 4 of us for multiple travelers. Will my reservations transfer over also? We are leaving for Europe in 2 days. Thank you!

Canadian couple will be traveling Europe by train with first class Global Passes already purchased, mid-May to mid-June 2023. I’ve scoured the forums and picked up the info I can, but am still just a bit confused as to the best way to make the reservations. We are new to this.I’ve used the rail planner app for initial research on the routes we’ll require reservations on, but my understanding is that it isn’t always accurate as to schedules and isn’t ideal for making the reservations through. I’m posting my trip schedule (and reservations needed as I understand it) below and would appreciate feedback on whether it appears correct and the best way to make the reservations I have to.I do understand that I need to generate a pass cover on the Eurail site to make reservations. Can I use one cover for all reservations for both my wife and me? I would like to book a day trip from Paris to Mont St Michel (leaving 7.32am, getting back to Paris at 10.16pm or thereabouts to have time to explore) but I’m not have any luck trying to do this using my eurail pass.  We (2 of us) can only do this on 9th, 10th or 11th of May, is it possible to book seat reservations, or are we too late and nothing available as I don’t seem to be able to make seat reservations.  I haven’t booked anything with my pass yet and this will be our first trip and I’m now wondering if the eural pass is going to be the best option for us.  Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can provide for us newbies.

Hi I am planning our europe holiday and trying to work out the best way for us to use the eurail pass we have purchased. Do I need to purchase a reservation to get from Paris to Nice on 12 May or is there a reservation free way please? We need to make the journey that day so our date isn't flexible but we don't mind a longer scenic route if there is one?

Hi,I want to take an Eurail pass for 2 travel days as shown in the snapshot below (this is just for example to get a solution to my problem, acutally plan is for more such one day return journeys 2 train travels)Amsterdam → Paris on 22nd May, Stay in Paris for 2 nights (This is my 1st travel day) 24th May, Take Paris → Brussels train in morning, return to Paris on same day at 6:00 PM (no stay at brussels). This is my second travel day.But when I add this information to “findl my rail pass” webpage, it counts them as 3 travel days, while actually its only 2 travel days (22 & 24th May). Please let me know if I can just add one entry here on 24th to brussels and can book 2 trains on 24th somewhere (please let me know where? rail planner app or elsewhere)  to have total 3 trains on 2 Travel days. London to York, i am planning to travel this line on a public holiday towards end of next month. Should i reserve a seat well in advance or would i be ok to arrange something within the week prior since there could be changes? I was looking at the LNR website and i don’t know what you would add for a booking reference since there no actual ticket being produced with pass, just QR code.

I bought my interrail pass (10 travel days within 2 months) but when I tried to reserve my first train journey I accidentally reserved it a month earlier than I meant to, when I won't even be travelling so won’t have activated my pass. Will this count as a travel day even if I don’t actually travel?

Hello people!As my previous question insinuates, I am going on an interrail trip this summer. We start in Dublin, catching a flight to Madrid and ending in Paris. I have just one question for some people(Mostly Irish) about Carry on bag rules. Does anyone know if eurrail’s reservation service charges more than if I were to reserve elsewhere (like at a train station or at another website?) On that note, what’s the cheapest way I can make seat reservations? Do I need to make reservations to travel on the golden pass scenic train from lucerne to interlaken in switzerland? What about travel from places like bern to paris, paris to brussels, and bruges to amsterdam? 

In the app, I set my first journey for 12 May. I was then able to find and buy reservations on the website, as long as they were on 12 May or later. If I searched for an earlier date, I got the “Your Pass isn’t valid on this date.”Then I decided to leave earlier, and added a journey leaving 27 April on the app. The “My Pass” screen confirmed that my pass now started on 27 April.But when I searched for reservations on 27 April, I was told again that my pass wasn’t valid on that date.So what gives? Does it take a while for the website to catch up to the app? Is there some other cause?Thanks!(Side note: I wanted to use the website because it often gave me the option of reserving a seat when the app didn’t.)

I'm travelling from London Euston next Wednesday on the 19.46 to Liverpool Lime Street. If I go straight to Liverpool I need a € 6 seat reservation. The journey takes 2h 21m. If I take the same train from Euston without a reservation I have to change at Crewe to wait for the next EXP train that gets to LLS at 23.17, a total of 3h 31m! If I bought a normal second class ticket with a senior rail card the seat reservation is free, or not necessary. But I've already got a Senior Interrail global pass, so why the cost? Just because it's quicker, even though I'm using the same train an hour later. Or shall I just risk it and pretend I caught the earlier train from London and waited at Crewe for this one... Any suggestions 🤔 

I might be in trouble here…  Have planned outbound overnight from Inverness to London and then Eurostar London to Paris and beyond, then inbound back through Paris to London and overnight London to Inverness.  Having activated the pass and adding journeys to my pass it says I can’t make the final journey, I guess because my outbound one covers 2 days.  Is that right / any way out of this …. Already bought Cal Sleeper reservations?!  Thanks, John
