To ask all about our Passes, reservations & more

The Caledonian Sleeper site is contradicting my understanding of night trains and Eurail passes. They write:“Britrail / Inter-Rail / Eurail / FIP Coupons will need to be valid on the date you arrive in your destination but not necessarily on the date you join the train for departures before midnight.”Now, I understand why that might be the case for the trains that depart Edinburgh or Glasgow just before midnight: it’s after midnight CET, and maybe the app logs it in CET time. But I want to use my pass one morning to go from Glasgow to Fort William, explore, then get on the 19:50 departure to London, which arrives around 7am.Can anybody advise?
Hello all, two of us have a two-month 1st class interrail pass. I have worked out our itinerary and booked reservations for things like sleepers, panoramic cars, TGV etc. These are trains for which I haven’t booked seat reservations. I have a condition which means I can’t stand for long periods of time. Equally, we don’t want to spend money on reservations unnecessarily. Could I please have some advice as to which of these trains we should make reservations for? Thank you so much! Date Day of week Route Time 13/03/2023 Monday Weimar - Wurzburg 17:09 15/03/2023 Wednesday Wurzburg - Munich 08:04 18/03/2023 Saturday Zurich - Karlsruhe 09:59 29/04/2023 Saturday Strasbourg - Basel 16:51 01/05/2023 Monday St Moritz - Zurich 17:02 02/05/2023 Tuesday Budapest - Vienna 17:40
Hey, I’m from the UK and me and my friend are hoping to go on a small interrail trip this summer. But I’m struggling on which pass to get, I’m travelling from my home in the UK to obviously start in London (not staying just to get the euro star) and we plan to go to amsterdam, krakow, Budapest and vienna then obviously back home. I understand krakow and Budapest are quite far so may need to add a stop in Berlin or something there. This is provisional but with the pass I am confused to wether me travelling to and from london counts as a travel day. And what pass would be best. We didn’t know whether the 4 or 5 day pass, we still aren’t sure if we will add Berlin but either way, we just need some guidance on what pass to get and more info about getting to and from london with the pass as we also have to make a reservation on that train to amsterdam.
Hey,I want to start my trip tomorrow from Helsinki to Turku (Finland) but the Search function in the Rail Planner App does not work. I am not able to find any Train Station or Train Connection. Some weeks before it worked and I added some Trains to my trip successfully. The trips which required a reservation are still valid but for the other train connections it says that I don’t have any more days of travel. But I have a 2 months global pass starting tomorrow. I also reinstalled the app already and internet isn’t the issue. Can it be a hardware problem or a bug in the app?As I was planning to start tomorrow I’m thankful for every tip!
Friends, I have a flexible 4 day global pass from Eurail which is valid for a month. I’m planning to use this pass days for my major travel between country borders. During my trip, I’m visiting Bernese Oberland region, where I’m planning to use discounted tickets (Mt Pilatus & Schilthorn), which is 25% on eurail. If I use this discount, will the day be counted as travel day ?Also planning to go either of Lake Thun / Lake Brienz boating, which is free with Eurail. Will this be counted as a day. This is not a discount I believe. Can I use pass for multiple travels on a day which are completely not part of a single (connected) journey (wandering around). Is it possible to do so with eurail pass counting as 1 day ?Thank you in Advance.Bijoy
how can i book train and bus online through mobile
Hi there, I’m trying to but a 4-berth private couchette or 2 double private sleeper cabins for my family (2 adults, 2 kids) on the 24th July (Brussels to Vienna) but no couchettes are showing up for this date, and no double cabins now either - would they be sold out already? I thought the tickets had only just been released?I’m finding the OBB booking pages a little difficult and what’s on offer keeps changing, ie options keep disappearing within a matter of minutes like they’re all selling out super quick!! Any help or advice much appreciated. Thanks
Hey Guys! I did a great 2019 trip around Europe and used the paper EU rail pas. Had a great time and was helped so much by the community in the old Facebook group! So I’m excited to come back again for some more train travel! But because my trip this year is very last minute, I’m thinking of getting the mobile pass. How have people found it? Is it user friendly? What are your tips and tricks?
When I search for trains Lugano to MXP it says pass not valid.Trenitalia is listed and has trains for this route on their website take 1.5 hours with one change. Eurail route is 2 hours 44 minutes.Trainline show direct trains. What am I missing? Thanks
Hi,We’ve got reservations on 20th February on Eurostar (London - Paris) and TGV (Paris - Hendaye). Seeing the latest update to the news on this website it appears 20th will be the last day of French industrial action. Naturally I’m worried that our trains might be cancelled, since if they are our whole itinerary is totally stuffed as we have onward bookings to Lisbon (mercifully just after the Portugal strike action is due to end). Looking at the Eurostar and SNCF sites, I haven’t been able to work out whether there’s any way of knowing in advance whether our services will be affected: couldn’t see anything on the SNCF site, while Eurostar is only showing information for the next day. Can anyone shed any light? Thanks
Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows the exact time when the seat reservation for Glacier Express opens 93 days in advance. I thought it would be open by midnight 93 days before the departure date, but it already passed midnight and I kept refreshing the booking page, it still says “Travel date too far in the future. You can only book 93 days in advance.” The latest date available is May 18 so far, however, I need to book for May 19. The first class seats of the earlier train seem to be very popular and the good seats are sold out pretty fast as soon as the booking opens. I can't really sit in front of the laptop and keep refreshing the booking page for hours until it opens. So any chance, anyone here knows the exact open time? Thank you so much :)
The passes in my app have been blocked. I don’t know why and how to unblock them.Thank you.
Hello everyone, I wanted to book seat reservation for Geneva (Cornavin) to Zermatt. I tried on ÖBB with the one way ticket option, it shows as the following:Does that mean I don't need to book seat reservation for these trains?Would it likely be no seat available if I don't book reservation? We have our scenic trains and accommodations in Zermatt and St. Morris all booked in and paid, really don't want to not be able to get there from Geneva the day before due to the lack of seat availability. Thanks a lot in advance :)
I am attempting to use my global pass and book from Munich, Germany to Florence, Italy. What would be my best resource for booking? I cannot figure the app out and am willing to pay a service fee
So, my last question revolved around the opaque use of the term 'trip’ in Rail Planner app. Having started to try to add trips, I have found it impossible to find any; every option results in ‘timetable not available; add manually’. This for a trip starting end of March. Does the trip planner have any functionality or do I ignore & plan via orher means ( I need to plan to make reservations in France/Spain.
8 days in Italy visiting Venice & major cities btwn there & Naples-Looks like 8 day pass would be perfect. 1. Does one simply show pass upon request aboard train or scan somewhere prior to each boarding? 2. Is reservation fee for each leg of trip or round trip? Example: Bologna to Pisa back to Bologna3. Any suggestions for questions I wouldn't know to ask about using Eurail pass? 4. Best/easiest/cheapest site to book trips?
I’ve read in multiple places that Global pass holders can travel between Italy and Greece for free on Superfast ferries (plus the fuel charge). However, whenever I’ve tried to book a ticket, I’m only able to get the 30% discount when I click on the Eurail discount. Is there any way to purchase a ticket where I get the full discount/I’m only paying for the fuel charge?
How does it work to get 2 trains in the same day if we get the pass 15 days in 2 month. for example, we would like to start from Brescia on 31 of July at 22 and get to Salisbury at 6 am. If we leave on the same day to go to Vienna, is it included in the same ticket?
Hello, As we start planning our trip for end of year through London - Paris - Chamonix - Milan - Venice - Florence, and while reading the posts in the community I am getting more and more concerned about how this Global Pass will work (or not work).I do not get to understand the process of getting a Pass, Activating the Pass, Planning my Trip in Advance, etc. It seems like I cannot book/Purchase my trips (for each segment) way in advance, is that correct? For example, I am trying to get the times for the trains from now (to travel between Dec 26th and Jan 03rd) and they are not available. Does anybody know when those times will be available? I need to make sure I have accurate information for example about trains on December 25th and January 01st.How far in advance do you (experienced travelers with Eurail) think I could/should get my tickets/trip booked within my Pass, to avoid shortage of availability or other issues being end of year and maybe less trains running, weather affecting
Hi, I've been traveling in Europe for about 2 weeks now with a 3 Months Eurail global mobile pass, everything worked fine until last night. I was trying to search for a journey in the rail plannner, but after entering the stations the app keeps getting stuck loading loading the schedule. I am thus currently unable to add any trips or obtain the ticket QR-code. I've tried the following: (a) Using the app both online and offline, both with and without location services enabled(b) force stop the app and clear the cache( c) restart the device(d) Searching for the train journeys under “stations" (this wont even attempt to load anything). All of this produces the same error. My next step would be to clear the app data and/or reinstall the app, but as far as I understand this will remove the pass from the phone entirely. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I would also have no problem adding my journeys manually, but I haven't found any way to do this without the schedule loading. I'v
Can anyone help?We have booked Eurostar tickets using the Interrail discount and now (long story) we need to change the date and go a week later.Everything I’ve read says it’s 15 euros per ticket to change and that should be 60euros for the 4 of us. It even says the same on the confirmation from when I bought the tickets.I’ve gone to exchange them online on the SNCF website I bought them from and it’s saying it’s 200 euros to exhange four tickets from London to Brussels. It would be cheaper to scrap them and start again!I’ve checked the train and the interrail pass holder seats are still showing at 30Euros each. Can anyone shed any light? I’m relucatant to call because that seems to cost extra?
Hello everyone, I am from Istanbul Turkey, i want to start from turkey, I have a ticket that I bought on May 11, 2022. This is a 50% discount non-refundable ticket for Interrail's 50th anniversary. I have to activate it until April 11th. I need an urgent route. I will start with Turkey.
Hello!I am visiting Europe from Canada, and travelling from Dortmund, Germany all the way down to Interlaken, Switzerland. I then plan on travelling East to Austria, to Innsbruck, a small town called Kufstein, and Salzburg. I am asking for confirmation that the Eurail pass (15 travel days within 2 months), works in most major train stations in most cities. For example, the Netherlands uses the NS system to travel by train. Does the Eurail pass work here too? I just want to ensure I can travel city-to-city through multiple countries by using the Eurail pass, and not needing to use local train cards like the NS system. Thank you for your help!
Hello, I want to do a single back and return travel from Paris to Copenhagen in train but I do not know whether this is possible with Interrail Pass ticket? Do I have to pay extra for trains demanding to reserve in advance? Best regards, Tristan
