Get ready to travel

Hi!So, I just had a run-in with an inspector on the Deutsche Bahn which has resulted in a fine being sent to my home.I live in Germany but I'm from the UK. Recently I had to travel to the UK twice in quick succession and did the "in between" bit by Interrail, like this:- Day 1: UK- Day 2: UK -> Germany (inbound)- Day 3: Germany -> border (outbound)- Day 4: Belgium -> UKToday is day 3. The inspector told me with total confidence that I could not use my outbound journey after my inbound journey and has therefore sent a charge to my home for a ticket today. I showed him the Interrail T&Cs but he refused to accept that.I think I already know that he is wrong and so I think I should be able to appeal this. The Interrail site is pretty clear. But it's a lot of money and I'd like some peace of mind. So here are my questions:- Am I definitely in the right?- How do I go about appealing this charge?- Can anyone report success with this kind of appeal?Thanks in advance!Simon.

J'ai acheté unPass Interrail Global Plus Senior Classe 2 pour mon papa. Mon papa est résident français et de nationalité française.Nous avons téléchargé l'application. Nous avons ajouté le pass à l'application et entré le numéro de carte d'identité.Nous avons associé un voyage à notre pass. Au moment de réserver les places assises, nous n'avons eu que l'option eurail. Pas d'option interail.Mon père étant français et résident en France, nous devrions avoir l'option interail.Que puis-je faire ?

Hello everyone, I hope this question has not been asked too many times - if so, I cannot find it :// My first travel day will be December 4th. From what I have read, I then have to activate my pass tomorrow, December 3rd. I have a 1-month, 5 travel day mobile pass. I have reserved seats for my last trip for January 3rd. Now I am panicking that my pass might only be valid until January 2nd, since I already activate it on December 3rd. Can anyone help me out here with telling me what my last day is? Thank you Interrail experts <3

Hi All,I and my spouse are planning a Europe trip for about 12 days covering Switzerland (6 days), Paris (3 day) and Amsterdam (2 days) with trains as primary mode of transport I am confused between which pass to buy does Euro global pass give discounts in Swiss and should it be active example I take a 4 day pass in 15 days can I keep 4 days days for Paris and Amsterdam or do I need to activate pass for days in Switzerland as well. Also outside of Switzerland bulk of the journey will be between Amsterdam - Zurich and Zurich - Paris does it make sense to buy a Euro Pass?Best Regards,Prasanna

Which is the genuine Interail or Interrail ?

Hi,I’ve just ordered two paper passes. I have an order number starting with IN, am I able to start booking seat reservations where the cover number is required if so where can I find the cover numbers?

Next month I wish to do a part of my interrail through Poland. Suddenly, by reading online and looking at the booking tool on the interrail app I realised there are some major issues in boking trains inside and in/outbound the country. Can I ask if someone with more experience with the Polish Railway system an its booking mechanism can give me a hand to figure out if it is worth it to use my pass for Poland?

Hi,I’ve used an incorrect pass cover number to book Eurostar and TGV lyria reservations. We have paper passes, will this be ok or will I need to contact someone to try and change the reservations?

I plan to travel from Sweden to Switzerland in mid December using my Interrail pass and - as I currently don’t have a GA/Half fare card - use one of my three I/O-days to reach my hometown near Lucerne. As I arrive in Basel from Hamburg by night train, I will arrive at home hopefully in the late morning.  So far so easy.Now I have the idea to make a round trip to Bern for visiting some friends in the evening of the same day. According to numerous posts here in the community, I can use my Interrail also for those trips.SBB, on the other hand, clearly states on their website, that I may use the I/O days only for travelling once to and once from the boarder stations or the airports. This post here in the community suggest that (at least some) train staff is rather strict with that rule.My question is: Should I rather buy a separate (expensive) ticket for the round trip or is it indeed legal to use my Interrail?

I bought an Interrail Pass a couple of days ago and after that I booked the mandatory reservation for the Eurostar to London. Now I would like to exchange my Interrail Pass (from 4 days to 5 days). My question is: Will my Eurostar reservation still be valid for the new Interrail Pass although I had to enter the pass number during the reservation process and the new Interrail Pass will have a different pass number? (I am talking about the Interrail pass number, not my passport number!) My new Interrail Pass will of course be valid on the day I made the reservation for and it will still be a Global Pass, 2nd class, like the previous one. Thanks for your help.

Hello, I am currently planning my first trip to Istanbul. From Istanbul, I would like to follow the itinerary recommended by the Interrail website at this link (departing from Istanbul to Paris): https://www.interrail.eu/fr/plan-your-trip/trip-ideas/recommended-routes/classic-routes/london-istanbul-train-route However, I can't find any recent articles confirming that I will be able to travel from Istanbul to Sofia and then from Sofia to Craiova in March. Can anyone confirm that these connections exist? If so, which European cities can be reached from Istanbul? Thank you very much in advance for your help !

Hello everyone, I will start my journey in Spain and I will travel to Germany (my home country). After this journey I will travel back to Spain. So for example at day 3 I will travel from Paris to Germany  and at day 4 I will travel from Germany to Paris and continue my journey to Spain. Can I use the in- and outbound journey days in this order when my home country is Germany?  Thanks for your help!

I’m planning on doing a future trip to Austria. I can see the Austrian Eurail pass is accepted on Railjet etc services. However I notice that the fastest route leaves Austria, travels partly into Germany via Rosenheim and then travels back into Austria. My question is simply, if I am staying on the train with my intention only to travel directly from Innsbruck to Salzburg, does the Austria Eurail pass cover this route?

I just read the chapter “travel in country of residence” in the FAQ section and found that it’s talking about inbound/outbound journeys, while I remember it always used to be I/O days. In particular I was wondering if this is a new thing:So did it already happen to anyone, having to use both journeys in one day? And how would that technically work if like a German resident leaves with their first I/O journey to France, then comes back from Holland  tto travel on to Denmark, which according to this would require 2 journeys, but there’s only one lleft?

Hi! Me and a group of friends are planning to go interrailing for two months in April and May 2026 and wanted to buy our passes with the current Black Friday sale. I know in past years there have been some restrictions/limits on when you could activate the pass or when it has to be used by. I haven’t been able to find anything like that for this year so just wanted to know if there were any and if so would it work for our trip. Thank you! :)

Hi all. I’m trying to calculate if it’s worth using my Interrail pass on a trip from Buchs SG (Switzerland) to Milano (Italy), or just paying for a ticket. I go to the SBB.CH website and enter the details, and it shows me the departures, and some of them have a little black “% from CHF 44” sign on them. I understand this means a super-saver price, but every journey I choose, and for any date I’ve tried (including 1 or 2 months in advance), the lowest price shown is 50-75% higher than the super-saver price initially displayed. Am I doing something wrong? Or are these fares only available for 1 or 2 seats on each train, and always booked weeks in advance? Thanks.

Olá, se comprar o passe ex: 5 dias, durante 1 mês pela Europa, esses mesmos 5 dias são para o total, ou seja ida e volta? Certo?Ou seja a ser assim, 5 dias, ou mesmo 7 dias na verdade não para ir muito longe! Porque dando aqui uma voltinha por portugal, a mesma leva mais ou menos por volta de 7 horas! Depois voltar, está o dia passado e nem sai de Portugal!Ou estou a fazer confusão, ou este passe é uma ilusão?

The only option for my seat reservation is ‘Delivered by post’ but the app says that the tickets cannot be delivered to my address in time.  How do I change this to a ‘print at home’ ticket?  I urgently need to make this booking as it’s for a sleeper train and the couchettes sell out very quickly.  How can I get my reservation made if the app won’t allow me to and I am doing this all in good time, so it’s not my fault?  Thanks in advance. 

How do I book an e-ticket for my sleeper train reservation through the app??!!  There is no option to select mobile pass, but the app says I am unable to get a paper ticket to my address.  I need to make this reservation URGENTLY as it is a sleeper train and it may get sold out. Please help!  How do I make this reservation, the app will not move past the address screen because it says the ticket cannot be delivered to my address.  I don’t want a paper ticket, I want an e-ticket or mobile pass.  What do I do?

Hi. I am trying to book a reservation to my journey on a train with my Global Pass Plus from Colmar to Lauterbrunnen. I keep getting errors. Attached are two images. One image is the original error when I would almost finish the booking process. The second image is what I believe the issue might be. There seems to be an issue with the Basel to Spiez leg of the portion? Based on that blue highlighted message, I should be ok to travel on this route without a reservation as long as I have my pass? This is the first time I’ve run into issues when planning for my trip. The Colmar route starts at 11:23 and arrives in Lauterbrunnen at 14:56 on Dec 20th if needed. There is a short transfer at Spiez but from what I can tell, the transfer is from 2 to 3 which is an adjacent platform so 3 minutes should be ok? I want to use night train at 12/25 and 12/27, round trip from Stockholm to Kiruna. In the website of SJ, selling of tickets of night train in this Winter, so I will be able to reserve tickets. But in this website: Eurail, I can’t search these tickets. How and when can I get these reservation?I want to use Eurail pass Sweden version. Please help. Sorry for my poor English.

Hi, not my first time traveling by train, but it is the first time seeing this message for the place I have a hotel booked right by the train station. I’m un able to book seat reservations between Zurich and Innsbruck and this message shows at the top. The high speed trains I was looking at taking appear to be heading other places than Italy, will the Budapest, and Croatia high speed trains be stopping in Innsbruck or should I take it as a bad sign that they aren’t offering seat reservations yet. I’m coming from Freiberg Im Breisgau in Germany, should I be thinking about a different destination other than Innsbruck...we wanted the Austria alp, sledding day trips, and winter experience.
