To ask all about our Passes, reservations & more

Hi Everyone,I’m a student geography in my third bachelors from Belgium. In the month of may 2023 our university will go on a field trip to Almeria. We normally fly but my fellow-students and I would love to go by train because this is more climate-friendly. I was looking into using the global pass (4 days in a month) to go there but the extra seat-reservations in France make in very expensive (€185 + €80 go + €80 return = €335). Being a student doesn’t pay very well so we are looking for cheaper alternatives to go from Brussels to the south of Spain. Do you guys have any tips for alternative routes which avoid these seat-reservations? Or which are cheaper in general? Thanks in Advance!
Hi all,Planning a trip and getting ready to buy a pass, but stopped here and would like to check in with the community.Planning for 14 days with the following routes (hopefully) - depart city will be Amsterdam. On to Berlin. Then to Krakow. On to Prague and return to Amsterdam. Figure about 3 days in each city. Have looked on a few of the train websites (Bahn, PKP etc.) and just looking to see if others have used a Eurail pass for these routes.CheersJim
Dear all,I cannot make reservation for Bruxelles midi to paris nord on 28Dec22 dep.20:43 (THA9484). Can you please help check. Other time is full already. I need a ticket back to paris. Thank you.
I am female, and when I was trying to make a seat reservation, my information listed me as Mr. Instead of Miss. I don’t know why this happened. Would this title matter when I present my pass to the train staff? Would they not allow me to be on the train for not having the right title?I have been trying to change this for days but this stupid chatbot doesn’t let me! It just says done when it didn’t do anything. I wonder if this title error is gonna matter that much. Please please help me.
I have reserved several train seats as I know that that is the train I want to take however there are several days I want to travel to places and NOT reserve seats as some do not allow for seat reservations. I am not sure of the exact train I will be taking and have several times to choose from. When I load the trip into Eurail I have to put a date and time but do I have to be on that time train or can it be any time train that day?
We are visiting our daughter who is a teaching assistant in French schools - duration of her stay will be 7 months to 1 year max. Can we buy her a Eurail pass so that she can travel with us for a few weeks? Or is she required to purchase an Interrail pass?
Hi everyone :)My partner and I are planning to travel from the UK to Germany on Friday 16th December but there will be rail strikes on that day. LNER trains to London will probably still be running but if their regular strike schedule is anything to go by there won’t be a train early enough for us to catch our Eurostar connection (since we are coming down from Scotland). Now, National Rail says that if you have a ticket for a strike day you can also use on the day before or after - would the same be fine with the Interrail pass (i.e. can we activate our ticket for the whole way for Friday and then use that to travel the leg to London on Thursday just like you would do with a regular ticket?) I’m just a bit worried that the conductors but be a bit fussy about this since it’s technically a flexible ticket (even though we have already booked our Eurostar journeys out and back into the country and therefore don’t have any inbound/ountbound journey left to allocate)Does anyone here have any
Hello everybody,I have booked my pass as a mobile ticket, only to then find out that my phone is too old for the Rail Planner-App. So now I need to cancel my ticket again to buy myself a paper pass instead. But I have already made a reservation for the Eurostar from London to Bruxelles and am anxious to lose that as there are only a limited number of seats available for people with interrail passes. Does anybody know if I will lose my reservation when I cancel my pass?Thank you so much for your help!
Hello,I made a trip and reservation after I had activated my pass, on the app Rail Planner.I change phone since and now I started my travel but I can't find again on the app all my trip and reservations. I'm really worried...If I try to put the pass again in the app, it tells me that the pass was already used. I can't find how to connect to my account and my first train trip is the 26/11, so very soon.Someone can help me please ?
Looking to travel from London to Paris on 17th Dec for 4 on 1st Class. Unable to make seat reservations. Understand it might be tight on the seats. But Eurostar websites seem to have seats. What can i do to make the seat reservations. I dont want to spend money on this leg from London to Paris on top of Eurail Global Pass. Does going to the train station in person work? But i will only be in London on 15th. By that time, the ticket might really be sold out. What is my options?
I plan on booking a train from Netherlands to Poland on 25th of December. Do trains work in that day? Will I reach my destination?
For journeys from 11 December, Dutch and Belgian railways can book the TGVs between Paris and Barcelona again. That includes Interrail/Eurail reservations, which can be booked by phone or at one of their international ticket offices.Deutsche Bahn can no longer book pass reservations for these trains for journeys from from 11 December.I have updated the post about booking these trains. Since last week, Belgian railways can also book reservations for French domestic night trains again. Again, pass reservations can be booked by phone or at one of their international ticket offices. All reservations booked via Dutch or Belgian railways can be sent via email.
No matter what time, date I look at to book London to Paris on Eurostar there is no availability. I am trying to book December 29th London To Paris with the Eurail pass and I get no tickets available. even when I use the https://www.b-europe.com/EN/Booking/Tickets site and look at different times and days even there are no tickets. Seems odd to me that it is so difficult to book seats for this route. I know Eurail only has so many seat reservations for Eurostar but literally there are ZERO tickets.
My original plan was to travel from London to Paris on Dec 30th, 2022, however, there were no 1st class reservations available, so I reserved a train on Dec 31st, 2022 before they were sold out. I’m traveling with a Global Pass. When it comes to Eurostar quotas, once they’re used, are they gone forever? Is there a possibility that availability may open up if someone cancels, etc.?I have been checking a couple times a day. The change fee would be worth it, rather than trying to change hotel reservations.Thank you.
The Eurostar website showed seats available for London to Paris. The Eurail website did not show any seats available. 1/ Why is that? 2/ We could not work out how to book the seats on the Eurostar website using our Eurail pass. Is this possible at all?
Hey guys;I used one of the inbound/outbound traveldays for travelling through Germany via nighttrain (Zurich - Amsterdam). Now I wanted to travel the same way back and the app doesn't asks me the inbound/outbound question. Only if set a German city as starting point on the trip, not Amsterdam. What can I do now??? Train leaves in 1,5 h.Kind regardsNoah * I found the answer by doing a trick:1. I choosed first the route Amsterdam - Duisburg, and activated inbound/outbound travelday and deleted it afterwards.2. I choosed then the original trip Amsterdam - Basel SBB. It's faster from there with other trains.
Dear Community, It says I can activate the global pass within 11 months of purchase. If I buy a 3 month global pass, and I activate it in month 11 (before it expires), do I then still have 3 months to travel with it, or do I need to activate it latest 8 months after pruchase to stay in the time frame of 11 months? I don’t find it clearly communicated in the text. At least not for me.
Hi.I realise the answer is likely “not set in stone”, so this question really goes out to anyone with long standing knowledge of the pricing of the Eurail/Interrail passes.Clearly the price will go up over time. And the 11 month validity makes it possible to buy the passes well in advance. So, I’m contemplating buying passes for the family for travel in Italy next May - in case the price is hiked in the meantime.Anyone forum sages able to take an educated guess when the next price increase might be?Many thanks.PB
Good morning all, I’m attempting to book a reservation required train from London to Holyhead on Jan 4th, 2023, while it appears that there are several trains scheduled, I’m not finding anything that is bookable. Avanti West Coast is showing the timetable is not confirmed yet (just that week and some weeks). Is this likely to change? Is this due to the ongoing strikes?is this something that I may have to do when I arrive in the UK?If not, this may turn out to be an overnight adventure. Thanks again,Ron
I'm trying to claim my travel insurance for DB trains delay/cancellation. However the insurance company requested a certificate issued by the train company to prove that my train was literally cancelled/delayed. I didn’t ask them for the certificate when I was in the train station and am leaving Europe very soon. I only screen caped my Eurail pass itineraries and the mobile tickets (original itinerary and the new one due to original train cancellation/delay). How can I ask for the delay/cancellation certificate from DB? Or will Eurail issue me one since I booked my trains through their app.
Hello, My 4 friends and I are planning a trip in beginning in April and ending in May. We are visiting Spain, France, Italy and Greece. We have some flights so we are only accounting for 5-6 train days while in Spain, France and Italy. We were looking at the 2 months with 10 days of travel (the eurail global pass). But we are wondering how if these extra days will pay off while being in Greece. And how the ferries in Greece work woth the global pass? We would like the cheapest option and one that makes the most sense. Let us know what you would recommend. Thanks, Hilary
As someone who will be staying in France for the next four months, I was disappointed to see that the BF sale did not extend to the the 3 month pass. Does Eurail historically drop an end of year or Christmas sale that normally includes the longer period passes?
Hi all,As you may or may not know, I tried and succeeded the other month in booking a couple of seat reservations with Hellenic Train by lightly abusing their query form. I got a formal response confirming that my reservations had been made but that I would need to collect the tickets from the station. The method is displayed on the last page of this thread: Today was the moment of truth; I went down to Thessalonike’s railway station to collect my tickets, armed with a printout of my email reply from Hellenic Train. The cashier at the ticket desk did accept the validity of the correspondence once shown my pass, but he also said (unsurprisingly really) that he had never seen this kind of thing done before, and that he had no way of retrieving my tickets. He also was unable to select the seats detailed in the email (because of course, unless something had gone wrong somewhere along the line, they had been reserved for me!).I perhaps should have tried to ask if a different colleague could
Good MorningI will be travelling from New Zealand senior solo so please your advice would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at a 15 day global pass but have two long day trips VIenna-Venice and Cologne-Nice would you upgrade to 1st class for these two trips thank you?
We have traveled paris last few weeks. We could not use 3-day pass due to being unwell and rail strike. We had used only 1 day. Would like to get the refund for the unused portion of pass. thanks
