I have a question about making seat reservations using the Eurail Pass. I’ll be traveling around Christmas and plan to take the train from Cologne to Strasbourg on December 24. As I understand, seat reservations can usually be made through the Rail Planner app or the Eurail website. However, the app hasn’t been updated yet — it currently only allows bookings up to December 13. I noticed that last year, the app was updated around mid to late November, so I’m wondering if I should just wait for it to update this time. Will the trains be likely to sell out if I wait? I also checked on the DB (Deutsche Bahn) website. The train from Cologne Hbf to Mannheim Hbf (ICE 515) allows seat reservations as normal, but the connection from Mannheim Hbf to Strasbourg (ICE 9590) cannot be reserved — it says “subject to compulsory reservation.” Since this will be on Christmas Eve, I’m worried there might be a lot of people traveling. Should I wait for the Rail Planner app to update, or should I look for
Hi! In the summer of 2026, I'd like to travel Interrail from Italy to Norway with my 35kg dog. Is it possible to buy an Interrail pass for him too?
Hi everyone! I bought a flexi trip Eurail pass for myself and family back in September hoping to get organised and book rail journeys. Our first one will be Munich-Salzburg but there are no journeys available when I search trips for the 14th December? I am reading everywhere they should show up 3-6 months prior but 2 months before now and the app isnt showing them- is there a reason for this? Is there another app i can use the Eurail tickets on as Im starting to feel it was a waste of money and its used up a heap of my time already trying to figure out how to use the passes :/
I purchased two first class passes from eurail. I was trying to book the below journey from SJ official website. When I try to book the tickets, only the chair car and couchette prices are reduced (~100-500 KR) but the private sleeping compartment is still the same price (7000 kr for each leg, 2 adults). The eurail pass mentions that private first and second class private cabin are included and seat reservation is around 70 euro but I see only the total price. The pass info has been added to the traveller info. Below are the journey details. Outward journey: Stockholm Central to Abisko turiststationDeparts: Sunday, 21 December, 18:12. arrives: Monday, 22 December, 11:00. 2 adults.SJ Night train, train 94Return journey: Abisko turiststation to Stockholm CentralDeparts: Thursday, 25 December, 16:37. arrives: Friday, 26 December, 10:13. 2 adults.SJ Night train, train 93 Thanks for your help!
Hello,I’ll be travelling around Sweden this Easter. This will include a ride from Sundsvall to Gävle, where I’m looking to travel with X-Tåget.In Rail Planner, it says that the 08:41 service with X-Tåget from Sundsvall to Gävle on 8 April is “not in pass network”. I decided to check this directly with the provider so I emailed X-Trafik, who runs this service, and their Customer Service department confirmed by email that they do in fact accept Interrail on X-Tåget.I’m a bit puzzled why the app says “not in pass network” but I’m letting you know now in case you want to update this for a future app upgrade.Question: Am I right to assume that if I want to travel on the X-Tåget with my interrail pass, I’ll simply have to add this journey as a manual entry? Thanks in advance for your help.
When I write my card details and proceed to payment, it says error. When I try paying with Apple Pay, it doesn’t accept either of my cards, and I have all the card types that are considered accepted.
I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue. I purchased a Ticket/Reservation for a double sleeper unit with a shower and WC on the Nightjet NJ461 Amsterdam to Munich on 12/09/2025. It came to my attention that OBB is charging the same amount for reservations/tickets whether or not you use your EURAIL passes for the Ticket portion of the travel that is supposed to be giving a discount for the travel portion. In 2 instances the same price was to be charged whether I provided information that I had a Eurail pass or not. Both ticket prices are the same for 2 different dates of service, Two of these reservations show that I was getting a EURAIL discount, however there was no actual discount given. One set of these reservations I did in incognito mode just in case the OBB app was detecting my computer IP address but shows the same result €679,80 and in the other case €739,80. I contacted OBB to find out how this could be happening but given it’s a weekend I haven’t heard back from
We are currently booking our trains from 15 december. The eurail planner doesnt currently list the trains so we have booked our reservation directly with OBB and Leo Express but obviouslynot paid for tickets On the Eurail apP, do we have the assign the travel days? Do we enter manually or have to wait until they show? What happens when someone asks us to see the tickets? We just wanted to lock in the seats and trains as far in advance as we could
I bought two eurail globzl passes. One for myself and one for my partner it has linked to my email address but when he tries to log in with the password number and his email it doesnt work. can i reassign his pass to his email? graeme
Hi all, first time rail pass user and having some trouble with the tech. I am trying to book a train from Brussels to Lyon on the 15th December. The journey I want is available on TGV but not showing on RailApp. There are journeys available on RailApp up to the 13th December but nothing after that and it’s been that way for weeks. I’m having similar problems with the other journeys I want to book later in my trip. I’ve tried the eurail website and all of the alternative third parties it suggests with no joy. I also find that when I move from rail app to the eurail website, my pass and other reservations are missing. It all feels very clunky and frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hello,I want to reserve the bicycle place in AVE train for traveling between Barcelona and Madrid on the 26 January. According to Renfe website, this is mandatory: “Keep in mind that you must add the Bicycle Add-on when you buy your AVE and Larga Distancia (long distance high-speed) tickets if the bicycle exceeds the maximum hand luggage dimensions, it is free! “https://www.renfe.com/es/en/travel/informacion-util/luggage/bicycles-and-kick-scooters-_non-electric_I already booked my seats from the interrail website, but the option to book the bicycle place was not present. On renfe website, I did not find a way to only book the bicycle place without buying a ticket...Anyone know how to book the bicycle space without buying a passenger ticket?Or do you have experience of taking AVE train without a reservation for bicycle or special luggage? did you managed to get in ?Thanks in advance :)

Hello, I am looking to go to Istanbul from Sofia, when I searched about it I started to see that I need a pass. I do not understand what is this pass for, is it a railway pass or something else? I am from Azerbaijan so with my passport I am free to go Turkey for 90 days and also I have a residence permit in Lithuania so I can freely travel to Bulgaria without any visa. My question is could someone please explain what are the passes? And do I need it to buy a train ticket from Sofia to Istanbul?
I would like to know if with my sweden interrail pass I can travel in any bus or boats. Thanks a lot.
Is it possible to get from thun to Zermatt via train? I am planning a europe trip for next year and when I put this into the trip planner, only 1 train is available per day, and none are available for the return trip. Planning around the end of october next year.
We had to scan our ticket at a barrier to board a train from St Lazare to Rouen. The QR code was not accepted, a message 'Titre non valide' with a big red cross appeared. The assistant couldn't help but eventually another colleague let us through as the train was about to leave. Are we likely to have the same problem on our return trip to Paris? Everything looked ok with our ticket, train number, date, time etc. It's the first time we've had to go through a barrier, scanning during ticket inspection on other routes has been fine
HiIm travelling to Tirano on Bernina Express on the 19th of october.I see there is no trains availible from Tirano to Milan on that day. Will there be replacement busses and where can i get the time tables ect. There is no information on Trenitalia on this.kind regards,
We travel to europe in december and plan to take our first train on December 15. We want to reserve our seats as early as possible to ensure we can get the seats we want we note we still cant see trains after this date yet on eurail but note some dates starting to appear directly on the train providers websites but with warnings of changes. is it worth waitinf until they appear on thr eurail sites?
Hello wise friends!Last Dec/Jan was our first experience with the Eurrail pass and could not have been more pleased with it. Our route was Berlin | Hamburg | Amsterdam | Nuremburg | Vienna | Salzburg | Munich. Also did some day trips on the side. We reserved seats on some, but not all the trains. It all went like clockwork. This year we are coming at the end of October and going to Porto | Lisbon | Southern Spain (Seville and other cities we haven’t exactly decided on yet) | Madrid | Barcelona.I’m just wondering whether the Eurrail pass would give us the same value, or whether we are better off using the Portuguese and Spanish train systems. A few things I have read have indicated that that could be the case, especially as we are in off-season, so may not strike the problem of booked ou:)t trains. We are not great with planning ahead, so will not be booking individual trains in advance! And I don’t think we can go fully by train from Lisbon to Seville? Or nearby. What would you a
Hi, I’m planning a Christmas markets trip (primarily in Germany) with stops in Essen, Aachen, Koln, Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Stuttgart, Esslingen, Konstanz and Strasbourg. My question is whether it’s possible and optimal to take the train from Freiburg to Offenburg then changing trains to a TER going from Offenburg to Strasbourg. Would I travel from Freiburg to Kehl using the Eurail Pass and then purchase a separate ticket through SNCF from Kehl to Strasbourg for about 5 euro to cover the border crossing? I assume that I’m effectively having two tickets for the same physical train trip from Offenburg to Strasbourg. I haven’t been able to find the option to purchase train tickets not covered by the pass in the Rail Planner app. The only purchases through that I can make appear to be seat reservations and loading the pass. Thanks in advance for any insight.
Hi all, I’ve listed my journey from London to Paris on ‘my Trip’.However I booked the seat reservation via RailEurope and not via Eurail app. I have received my Eurostar email, completed the API and printed my tickets so they know I am booked on and all is good on that front. Are there implications for when I go to board..? When I trigger the Pass next Sunday will it all make sense….? I just don’t understand how the ticket QR codes will appear on the app…...do I have to do something manually. All my train times and routes are listed in ‘My Trip’.Thanks P
May I get seat reservations on journeys that do not require them? For example, I have gotten tickets with my Eurail pass for Malmo to Oslo for 9-10-25, 10:12 to 17:44. And if I can do seat reservations, will the Eurail discount apply? Same question for Nice to Genoa?
I want to book Eurostar for March 2026. The train times are on the Eurostar website but the app is telling me that they do not have details of the timetable yet because it is too early and I need to wait.
We’ll start using our 3-month global passes soon and I’ve set up a Trip with journeys - how do I share this with my partner’s phone? The dropdown only lists Edit / Duplicate / ShowInWidget. And where does this widget appear after creation? Nothing shows up on the home screen.
Hello all. My family and I are traveling to Germany, Switzerland and France this December.. We purchased a Eurail pass that is good for 7 days during the time we will be there. I am within 90 days of my travel but Eurail website is showing “No Trains Available” when I try to book seat reservations. I know there are train schedules out and even have the trains I want to take and want to make a seat reservation. Do I have any options for making seat reservations others than waiting out Eurail to update their trains schedules? Anything I am doing wrong? Thanks, in advance, for any help and advice you could give.
