Get ready to travel

Hello Eurail Support, My wife’s Eurail Global Pass (Pass reference: ZLPMYZ, 1st class Adult) was activated incorrectly. The 4th travel day was set to 26 August 2025, but in reality she did not use the pass that day. It should have been activated on 27 August 2025 instead. Now the system shows all 4 travel days as used, but she only traveled 3 days. Could you please check this error and restore one travel day? Thank you very much for your support. 

I made a seat reservation using the Eurail app before planning my trip. I'd like to know how to add train seat reservations to my travel plans after the fact.This is my first time using the Eurail Pass and app. I'm from Japan.

My country of residence is Germany and I am planning the trip around IT and some other parts, but will start on Amsterdam. From Amsterdam On the first day I would use my outbound travel from my country or wish to do so. But then from Amsterdam I am heading to IT, the easiest and fastest way is to pass through Germany once again. If I do that, would I use my inbound ticket already? In general am I permitted to do this or how does it work? Could someone provide their experience? 

I’m planning a trip in September 2026 with my wife to Travisio in north east Italy in September 2026.  We would like to have two stops on the way there and also two on the way back.  We would be leaving from Lichfield in Staffordshire and travelling through London and leaving on a Thursday, ideally getting to Brussels for early afternoon on the first day then travelling onwards for a second night somewhere around halfway between Brussels and Travisio.  Then travelling onto Travisio on the third day, arriving in late afternoon.  Does that sound reasonable and any suggestions on routes and/or stopovers, please?  Also, could we do the trip with only one overnight stop, please, and so only have a four day pass in the month?  For the return journey, we would like to have the final night in Paris.  Any suggestions for routes and stopovers that that, please? Finally, does it make sense to buy the passes in January during the winter sale?Many thanks, Colin.

Hello,I am currently trying to decide which ticket I should get.I was wondering if the First Class Pass is worth it, since to actually benefit from first class, I will always have to pay for seat reservation right? So is it worth getting? Additionally, are the seat reservations cheaper if I have the Interrail pass or is it the same price as if I didn’t have a pass?For second class there are a lot of trains that don’t require reservation so I am more leaning on getting that one.

Is it possible to have paper pass as backup?I dont just want to rely on mobile app.

Hello, I’m planning to go to Milano on November 1st, 2025, with my Interrail pass. But the 7:29am direct train is not yet available in the pass, and the info message is really unclear. Do you know if it’s gonna be available in the pass? If yes, when? Thank you!Elise

Hi there!I’m planning a round trip from Hungary to Toledo in a few months and I’m interested if Interrail worth the price for me. The first train would probably be an EuroNight train from Budapest to Zurich. It can be booked on jegy.mav.hu and on shop.oebbtickets.at, however when I check “seat reservation only”, both of these display the trains as ticket not available, no matter the date. But If I uncheck it, I could buy a ticket without a problem. Interrail website won’t let me see its booking page before actually buying the pass. So my problem is that I don’t know if I’ll be able to book a seat, what type of seat it will be and what will it cost, without actually buying the pass. Is there a way to know these information in advance? Thanks,Zoltan

I have 3 destinations [trips] planned in a single week, Frankfurt to Zurich, Zurich to Geneva, Geneva to Rome. My 1st leg is all set, but I can't seem to assign my pass to the 2nd or 3rd legs of the trip. Each leg is on a different day. Can you only assign/activate a pass one trip at a time ? Meaning: I need to wait till my 1st leg has been completed before assigning my pass to the 2nd leg, then repeat... Help, leaving Sept 01, 2025. First time using Eurial pass and it's cell app.

What is the best way to book when you need seat reservations? First book your seat reservation and afterwords the train trip in your app?I had first planned my trip , but when I wanted to make a seat reservation their was no place on that specific train. Then I take seat reservations on an other train. But I need to cancel my trip and started again. Is it better to do first the seat reservation and add the train to the app afterwards?

Hi, I booked seats for tomorrow Paris-Brussels-Köln through Happyrail.com When I got the confirmation email I get the impression only seats Brussels-Koln are booked, but not Paris to Brussels train. It looks like this: Any idea? 

I bought the Interrail Pass and had it emailed to me, and now I have it on my phone through the app. But I'd also like to have a physical copy of the pass, but I don't know how to get it. If anyone can help me, thank you.

Hi, we’re in Venice today and need to travel to Milan tomorrow. I’d rather not pay the additional fees for the train reservations which would cost up to €130 for the five of us (€13 per train leg and it changes in Bologna). We can go on regional trains via Verona at no cost - are there any other options for it to be a bit quicker and not incur the high cost? We have interail global 1st class passes. Thanks, Jon

Hello, i am new here, i searched the whole FAQ and asked the Bot, but did not find an answer to my question:  seat reservation booking via interrail website with Hungary and Romania trains, i need e-ticket and not paper ticket  For a paper ticket its too late, i plan to start my travel next week…So do i get an e-ticket from interrail website for seat reservation by travelling from Austria starting for 2 days from south Austria - Bucharest, travelling through Hungary, until Romania. There is no seat reservation neccessary until Budapest, on 2 trains i need seat reservation i know there are other ways to book seat reservation Thank you for any help Greetings Sascha

Hi there,Travelling to Europe via Eurostar so need to get to St Pancras from the west country in England. This invoves two train journeys to get to London and the same in the other direction on my return. Are these covered by my interail global pass? I need clarification asap so many thanks in advance!  

When i checked on google maps i was given suitable trains form start to end. However when i went to the eurail app these trains were not offered. Is there any way that i can add these trains and save the trip?

Is the following scenario possible: I purchase the 5 days in a month pass. I travel from Karlsruhe (Germany) to Neapel (Italy). From Neapel to Bologna (both Italy). One day trip to a small town outside of Bologna (Italy). From Bologna to Karlsruhe. From Karlsruhe to Leeds (UK).Does that work?

HiI have purchased Eurail Global pass 10 days within 2 months.I have completed my itinerary in My Trip in the app for 9 days but have not yet activated the pass as my first day of travel is 8 September.Can I add the remaining Day 10 in the trip after the pass has been activated and I have commenced the travel?  Reason being I am considering a few options for the Day 10 depending on how I go.Regards   

I have a 1st Class Interrail Global pass and want to reserve a seat on ICE9574 between Strasbourg and Paris.  Neither interrail.eu nor Rail Europe offer it - they only offer 2nd class seats.However, this train starts from Stuttgart and 1st Class seats CAN be booked from either Stuttgart or from Karlsruhe to Paris - so there are very definitely 1st Class seats on the train that are available between Strasbourg and Paris but for some reason the booking engines do not allow a 1st Class reservation from Strasbourg.  (Rail Europe doesn’t even allow a 1st Class ticket to be purchased from Strasbourg!)Is it legitimate for me to make a reservation from Karlsruhe to Paris and simply get on in Strasbourg?  Can anything go wrong if I do this?

Hi,Trying to book seats for an ICE Amsterdam-Köln on the ÖBB app.I get the following message:"Reservation not possibleSorry, shared accommodation on the ICE 153 from Amsterdam Centraal to Köln Hbf is not possible for the passengers as requested."i tried to book without table, in a different part of the train. Every time I get this message. Try again, different app, or is the train just full...?Thanks!!

We are a family of 3 with a four year old and planning to travel across 10 countries within 40 days time using Euro rail. Can anyone recommend buying first class is a good idea or would the 2nd class do the same job for a lower price? What extra benefits we get for first class? We will be covering Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungry, Netherland, France, Spain and Portugal. 

It's the first time I bought an interrail pass. Unfortunately for this weekend the reserved seats are already sold out, so I must choose the trains with non-reserved seats with more lay-overs. However, some lay-overs are just 6 or even 3 minutes. What if I miss one lay-over? Can I just take the next train with the Interrail pass without having to pay extra?

HiI am travelling from Chur to Muenchen HBF via St Margrethen Sg Station and have to change train from platform 1 to Platform 3 at St Margrethen Sg Station.I have a large suitcase with wheels. What is the minimum time I need to change the platform? Do I have to go up and down by stairs or there is escalator or lift at St Margrethen Sg Station?Thanks  

Hi all,I’m planning to travel on the Paris - Nice Intercités de Nuit on 8th September. I have a valid 1st class youth global pass and would like to reserve the 1st class (4 couchette) option. I have tried to reserve this using the Interrail booking system, Rail Europe, and B-Europe (as detailed in https://www.interrail.eu/en/plan-your-trip/tips-and-tricks/trains-europe/night-trains/intercites-de-nuit), however as soon as I get to the very last step of checking out I am greeted with an error message (see pictures below). I am able to reserve the 1st class on the following day, or 2nd class (6 couchette) on the desired day, with no problem.There are still 1st class seats available (as tickets, not reservations) on the SNCF Connect website, and I assume that those three reservation websites would either make it clear that this is sold out before entering all of your details or simply not list it as an option to reserve.Emailing these companies has not been much help, and I have been told
