Later this year I will be going from Switzerland to Italy on a relatively flexible schedule.  Because of handy clock face times I can spend shorter or longer times in the connecting city.But . . . reservations are mandatory on the Zurich-Milan and Milan-Rome legs . . . and this somewhat takes away from the flexibility.For example, I arrive into Zurich at (say) 09:05 and should be able to get the next train to Milan at (say) 09:25.  The same goes for the second leg - I get into Milan at (say) 12:30 and should be able to get the 12:50 to Rome.  Those specific times are made up, but the 20-25 minute connections are more or less accurate.Because I have to buy reservations, I either have to gamble on my 1st train arriving on schedule or book the train an hour later.  The same goes for the 2nd train.  I can gamble on the connection or book the train an hour later.Short version - if I reserve the short connections and miss one because of a delay is it possible to be rebooked on the next train

Hello, I noticed from the Interail rewards that there is access to some of the OBB lounges.  The one I’m interested in using is at Innsbruck as our train is cancelled and a bus replacement service is in place.  That’s all good but there is an hours wait and just wanted confirmation that we can use the lounge even if we don’t have an OBB ticket.  Has anyone used it with just the Interail/Eurail pass? Can I exchange my 5-day interrail ticket for a 4-day interrail ticket? And if I exchange it, will I lose all my reservations? 

Hi, everyone! I’m about to leave for Austria for a 6-day vacation and since I want to make sure to do everything right I was wondering: if all the trains I have to take have the green “reservation is not needed” label does that mean that the order confirmation is proof enough for the conductor? Or am I missing something? I don’t seem to be able to find any bar code or similar.Thanks!

Two people with 2nd class Interrail global passes want to travel on a SJ night train.Among the sleeper options shown on the SJ website, some are referred to as 2nd class and some others as 1st class (e.g. a private sleeper compartment for two people).After inserting both passes’ codes, any option seems to be bookable, both 2nd and 1st class.Replies given in a previous topic stated that even 2nd class pass holders were entitled to book a private compartment, but it was shown as 2nd class in that case.I just want to make sure that 2nd class pass holders are entitled to book a private compartment on SJ night trains when it is classified as 1st class.    

I’ve just bought 4 passes for my family to travel to UK, Germany, Austria, Italy and France for xmas.  How far in advance can we book tickets?  they already seem to be available on the countries train websites but note on Eurail?

Hi! I hope to travel by Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz on 12 SEP (2nd class pass).I realized that there are no left seats for this day, whereas for next days of July there is plenty, sometimes 2-3, sometimes even 15 or more. That’s kind of weird. Do you know any real answers why is that? Is the Glacier Express team releasing seats week by week or what? July should be more demanding month than the middle of September. Is there any real chance of catching a reservation for my travel day in September? What do you think? I know that I can travel whole route using regional trains without reservations (that’s my only altrenative), but I need to get to Tirano and the last train departs St. Mortiz by 16:48, so I'm more inclined to take the Glacier Express and avoid stressful transfers on regional trains. Many thanks for any help.Mateusz,  17/07/2025 24/07/202512/09/2025 - my travel day 

Hi, I have planned a two-week trip to Northern Italy from Paris starting tomorrow. However, I have a problem with my last train reservation, to return from Milan to Paris, on the 28th of July. Indeed,  I can’t achieve the seat booking because, as it is written on the app, “the route is expected to be added to the network in mid-summer”. I thought the end of July was at least mid-summer… May my reservation be available for this day ?

Hello! I am travelling from Barcelona Sants to Marseille St Charles on the 11th of July. There is only 1 direct train that leaves at 4:34pm. Today my partner and I went to the Barcelona Sants station to book seat reservations. The lady booked our reservations for us but afterwards we realised she booked us first class seat reservations. As we have a 3 month Eurrail pass that is only second class, we went back to check if this was correct. We spoke to the original lady and another person who spoke more English who assured us that it didn’t matter and that second class reservations were sold out anyway. if we travel using the second class pass and the first class seat reservations, will we be fined for travelling without a valid ticket? We want to do the right thing but are not sure as the staff we spoke to seem to say it will be fine but everything I have read online says otherwise.  

Hi, I just booked tickets from copenhagen-hamburg the 27th of july.   On the ticket it says that it needs to been printed out, and are not possible to show on a screen...  But is that really true nowadays? There is a qr code so it should be fine to use on phone right? Or what is your experiences with that in europe? Thanks

Based on the information from the DB Navigator, the railplanner app and seat61, I assumed that reservations are optional.However, I encountered this information at Liège-Guillemins:So is SNCB spreading misleading information or are seat reservations indeed mandatory for domestic journeys?I had a similar experience two years ago where there were announcements about mandatory seat reservations in Austria at Bratislava Hl. St. which turned out to be nonsense.But today, I decided not to take the risk and used the hourly IC via Leuven. But does someone know if I would have come into trouble by taking the ICE? And what do you usually do in such situations? Have you also experienced similar things?Strange enough, the departure time on the DB navigator was wrong while the departure time on the railplanner app and at the station was correct.   Good morning everyoneI bought an Interrail pass for France and I’m trying to book my first trip from Paris to Mont Saint-Michel using the Rail Planner app, but I can’t manage to do it. When I try to book, it gives me three options and I click on the first one (Eurail) but when it redirects me to the website, I don’t see my pass linked. My travel companion managed to get a bit further with the booking and she gets a message saying “No prices were found. Reservations for pass holders may be sold out...”How can I or should I do this? It’s the first time I’m using these services  

An amazing journey along north of Spain - Spaniard living in Sweden myself 😜- from Irun to Vigo.  1- not posible to buy long distance trains before entering the country- only 72 h in advance by phone where you can get a reservation number that you will need to validate in person on a train station with customer service 2-. you need to understand the system itself: Cercanías where you don’t need a ticket and you may need to explain to some of the Renfe staff - not so far to any onboard staff- for this trains in some regions (Asturias, Cantabria, Barcelona, Valencia sand a few more) there’s an app, if not … Renfe.com Media Distancia MD or Regional (a kind of cost train lines that only show up in the Renfe web page and not in the app. For this one’s a Ticket is always needed and it is not explained in the interrail planner….!!!! long distance .- some AVLO trains do not accept interrail some reguional train lines (Euskotren in the Vasc Country or FGV in Valencia) do not accept Interrail a

Had a transfer from Milano P Garabaldi to Centrale during part of our trip. It was a multi-leg journey from Venice to London. Eurail gives suggests 20 minutes to transfer by public transport, which I feel is nowhere near enough. We had 23 minutes and before that trip I had researched both station layouts and pre-bought the train tickets. We had to get off the train as soon as possible, we wasted no time and walked as fast as we could without slowing down, managed to get on a metro train that arrived in a minute, and then walked all the way to our carriage, but decided to get on a few carriages earlier just to be safe. This was the latest we could’ve gotten there.I believe this trip should not be recommended or at least a warning / guide should be given. Had one thing gone wrong we would not have been able to make our train. This includes not knowing the directions and wasting time, not having bought the tickets beforehand, the metro train not arriving so soon and not hopping on an earl

Hi everyone!I have a few questions about the Interrail Erasmus Pass that I couldn't fully figure out just by checking the website, so I’m hoping someone here can help.I’ve bought the Interrail Global Pass (4 travel days in 6 months) with the Erasmus discount, and I can activate it starting from September 1st.My first doubt is: Can I already book seat reservations now, before activating the Pass? For example, if I want to travel in mid-September or even later, can I reserve those trains in advance and activate the Pass only right before my first trip?Second question: since this Pass gives me 4 travel days, how exactly do I use the second travel day? Let’s say I travel on September 4th for the first time, and then again on December 20th – what do I need to do to prepare for that second travel day?Thanks in advance!

I plan to travel with a interrail pass in the North of Sweden in the first half of August and then travel to Norway via the Östersund – Storlien - Trondheim line. I have not yet decided about the exact dates. On weekends in the first half of August there are two trains operated by Vy Norrtåg between Östersund and Storlien, where I can connect to a SJ Norge train. Tuesday through Friday (with the exceptions of August 1st) the only Vy Norrtåg train Östersund – Storlien is train 7510 departing in Östersund at 16.33 hours. On Friday, August 1st and on the following Mondays, August 4th, 11th and 18th in addition to train 7510 also train 7500, departure time in Östersund 7.24 runs to Storlien. That is the information one can find on the travel planners of ÖBB and DB. Looking on the travel planner of interrail.eu for e.g. Wednesday, August 6th it says train 7500 is running, no reservation needed or even possible. When trying to make a booking (and not finalizing it) on sj.se I get train 7500

Hola! en octubre vamos a viajar 3 amigas desde Argentina durante 23 dias por Europa de Este. Tenemos pensado ir a Grecia, Albania, Budapest, Bratislava, Viena, Praga, Milán para tomar el tren Bernina regional y llegar a St. Moritz. Mi pregunta es si nos conviene comprar los pases y que tipo de pases, y si compramos pases el tren de la Bernina regional esta incluído en esos pases.Muchas gracias! 

Hello Community, You’ve been very helpful in the past, so maybe again.I’m planning to travel from the continent to London and back on the Eurostar. Unfortunately I will only know for definite late next week if I can travel. However, I need to book seats very soon as there are very few left on the days we wish to travel. If I buy my Eurorail ticket and then book the seats, I know my seat reservations are non refundable. However, if I can’t travel at all can I get the full refund for the 5 day ticket? Obviously within the 7 day limit?Thank you in advance for your help.RT

Hello everyone, I reserve some ticket from Wien to Koeln and then Amsterdam, must I print my ticket or I can travel with a online e-ticket with my reservations?

My wife and I have purchased two One Country Eurail passes for Italy.  We are arriving on August 18 and our passes have been activated with a start date of August 18. Our first travel date will be August 19 from Rome to Naples.  When I go on the Eurail website or the Eurail Mobile App, I can view trains departure times from Rome and I see seat reservation prices.  But when I select one of the reservation times, the web page changes the reservation to a Global Pass rate which is much higher.  I don’t understand why this is happening. I put in a support email to Eurail but who knows when they will reply.Anyone out there having the same problem?  If so let’s hear from you.  Thank you.

Coucou je pars pour 2 semaines à Berlin Prague et Budapest avec mes amis du 4 août au 16 août. J’ai réussis à réserver sans problème les trains jusqu’à Budapest mais pour le retour à Paris impossible des réserver les places. A chaque fois que je rentre toute les informations de ma carte bancaire et que je valide un message s’affiche le disant qu’une erreur inconnue est survenue. On me propose d’attendre 15 minutes et de recommencer plus tard mais ça fait trois jours que j’essaye trois jours que le résultat et le même. Ça vous ai déjà arrivé et comment avez vous fait pour réserver vos trains ?

I have been trying to book from Paris to London for the 18th of July to get there and come back on the 19th of July but when I try to buy seat reservation it says: Seat reservations requiredYou need to buy a seat reservation to board.No price results were found. Pass holder reservations may be sold out for this connection, but there are other ways to check for available seats—more info below our timetable. what should I do
