Get ready to travel

The Eurail app will not let us make a seat reservation. We have been trying for our entire trip. We had similar problems last year, but could eventually do it. Now it will not let us at all. We have had to book through the railways and pay full price. It has made the pass almost entirely useless.

So let's say that in Rail Planner I generate a ticket for Berlin to Amsterdam. It creates a ticket for this that uses two trains with a transfer in Hanover. The train from Hanover to Amsterdam (the second train on the ticket) requires a seat reservation.So what happens if the first train (Berlin-Hanover) is late and I miss the Hanover-Amsterdam train. The next train also requires seat reservations. Because I had a seat reservation for an earlier train that I missed through no fault of my own, am I able to jump on the next train and stand near the door (if there are no seats)?If I cannot board the second train without a reservation, and one is not available because the Interrail quota is already used up, then am I just left stranded at the train station?How can we prepare for this? What are the best practices? Do we have to get "backup" secondary reservations "just in case"?

I have a reserved on tgv oui, i want to cancel that to take another one. I am still ot sure tough, when the eurail site say that will check with the ompany if it is possible to cancel the trip, would it do automatically or it will leave me choice?thanks,regards 

I’ve just booked the night train from Paris Austerlitz to Nimes. I have a 2nd class 4 day interrail pass but I would like to get a bed in one of the cabins on the night train. How do I upgrade? 

Hi,My eurostar train reservation made through the interrail website has been cancelled, I was notified by Eurostar and given the option to rebook, I have rebooked my ticket on the Eurostar app for another time tomorrow (Fri 11th) but the reservation is not showing on the reservations overview on the Interrail website. Is my reservation still going to work?I'm concerned as I couldn't see any through the Interrail website as it said it was full for pass holders but could through the Eurostar one.

Hi everyone,I accidentally activated my Interrail Global Pass with the wrong dates: June 6 to July 5, but I actually meant to travel from July 6 to August 5.I haven’t used any travel days yet (0/7 used) and haven’t added any trips.My pass expires today (July 5) and I’m supposed to start my trip tomorrow, July 6.I already contacted Interrail support, but I’m very anxious because it’s urgent.Has anyone had a similar experience? Is it possible to get the activation cancelled and start over with the correct date?Any advice or help would be really appreciated. 🙏Thanks in advance!— Marina

My question may be a bit silly, but I can't find the answer.I'm traveling solo by Interrail for the 1st time, for the next 7 days from France to Sweden, making a few stops along the way (Amsterdam, Hambourg, Copenhague, Boras)For some destinations, I had to book tickets and seats, and therefore I already booked and paid an extra. But for other destinations, I don't need to book any tickets. But what proof do I need to present at the ticket check in this second case, since I don't have a reservation? Do I have to use my Eurorail pass? If so, where is the QR code? Where can I reserve tickets for free? If so, how does it work?Thanks a lot for your prompt reply 😊

Hi! I have booked two “normal” seats on an SJ Euronight from Hamburg to Stockholm. The trip is in a few days and TODAY they informed be about the allowed sized of the baggage and the fact that it can only be stored above or below the seat. I think my baggage fills the criteria narrowly but I’m wondering if there is really going to be enough space. We are going to be in a “seating compartment” - does that mean a “box” with four or six seats? Does anyone have any experience about the baggage arrangements in SJ Euronight when you haven’t booked a cabin? Is there anything we can do, for example pay to get extra space for our luggage? (This is part of my return journey so at this point, I can’t really impact the size of my luggage..) 

Hi there. Yesterday I had to change my pass to other phone and I loose all my trains. I had a train from Amsterdam to Munich which had a change at 23:55, now it has changed and the departure is at 00:14, and I can’t take ir because count as 2 days travelling. I already have a reservation at the 23:55 train, do I need the RailPlaner QR to get on the train? Thank you!

Hi, I would like to make all the reservations for me and 2 other friends. We all have our own mobile pass.When I try to add other travellers to the trip with their e-mail and pass number, an error keeps occurring.Can somebody help me? Thanks in advance! Anke

HI - it says my train I plan to get from Lyon to Milan ‘The route is expected to be added to the network in mid-summer’ - does anyone know when this might be? I plan to travel on 20th of July

Me and my five friends are arriving to Milano Centrale at about 10.20 today. We have made reservations for Bernina Express from Tirano at 14.24. Do any of you have any recommendations how we can get to Tirano in time? We have discovered that the direct train between Milano and Tirano that we have saved to out Interrail-app, is no longer existing. Please help!!

I have always activated my travel day the night before and never had an issue. Today on SNCF they said I improperly activated the day before and were going to fine me. They say in France you have to activate the travel day on the actual day of travel. I have been using eurail for 3 years and never had an issue. And my pass says valid today! Is it true that France is different?

I am not intending to travel until August 18th. Have I accidently screwed myself over by adding this journey to My Trip on the app? (This is supposed to be on the 18th but I didn’t adjust the date). Also, how can I remove it?EDIT: I should add that the pass validity period shows as 8/17 with 0 days used.Thanks!

hi. back at the end of May my girlfriend and I bought 2 tickets for the night train from Prague to Budapest but now we can't find that departure no matter where we search for it. The train is IC 577 Metropol/EN 477, departing on July 23 at 10:01 PM and arriving in Budapest at 8:29 AM on July 24. We hope that some of you can help us solve the mystery as the contact with CD.CZ is not entirely optimal unfortunately.

When I go to book and it says seat reservations required but I can’t find a book button below. It just says seat reservations required.How do I book the seats for the train

I won 4 credits for seats reservation beside the interrail ticket. Now the seats were in my cart, but they weren‘t available anymore and it says that I have to remove those. This is not possible and now for 3 days nothing changed! Therefore I can‘t book any seats, because in my carts are these seats in which I can‘t remove:( any tipps?

Hello. My wife and I have Eurail passes for September and one of the routes that we want to take is Lucerne to Interlaken Ost. When I checked the Eurail website yesterday it directed me to the Zentralbahn website to buy a reservation. Today, it says a reservation is not necessary. The Zentralbahn website is saying that only 6 reservations are left on the 9:06 train, and none at all on the 8:06. The price of a reservation (not a ticket) from Lucerne to Interlaken is CHF 58, which seems like a lot. My question is do I really need a reservation, and if not, could I travel on a train that says that no reservations are left? In other words, are they selling a limited number of reservations, but there are still many other seats available. Thanks for any help

Hi there, I bought two passes yesterday but mistakenly write the wrong information, so I submitted a refund request and it was approved, but  I haven’t received the refund yet, I am writing to check its status and also ask about the specific time.

I’ve got my itinerary listed on My Trip but nothing on MyPass.   The instructions say go to My Trip and tap to add the journey to my pass.Can anyone tell me tap what? 

Hello dear Community,We're traveling on July 19th/20th, 2025 from Switzerland via Munich - Hamburg - Copenhagen to Oslo.We've already booked our train seats with DB up to Copenhagen.Here's a question: Is a 21-minute transfer time in Hamburg enough for us? If the DB timetable information is correct, our train from Munich arrives on the same platform (06:42) from which the train to Copenhagen departs (07:03) (Platform 11). Is that possible? Would you recommend reserving the next train from Hamburg at 08:50 AM?What worries me a bit more is that DB shows "seats fully booked" for the Copenhagen - Lund connection. On SJ.se, our desired train from Lund is marked "Preliminary"! I can find the connection on all timetables, whether it's DB, SBB, or the Railplanner App.When will it be definitively confirmed that this train will run?Thank you for your knowledge, greetings Yasmin

I purchased a 5 day pass for my registered disabled son. Then i obtained a free carer pass for myself to accompany him. My problem is connecting the two passes to same trip so i can reserve adjacent seats on trains ( very important for my son ). The system only lets me reserve one at a time so no guarantee of adjoining seats . Any advice  ?

Hello ​@Eurail Community Moderator  I’m experiencing difficulties in booking reservations. On the website the trains I’m given in the app don’t show up so I’m unable to match the planning of the journey with the actual booking of reservations. This is making all more expensive as I find myself having to pay double on board. hope you can assist with this issue.all the best, Guido

Hello, I bought the 1th class interrail pass to avoid not to have to pay for the seat reservations but now it still shows that I would have to pay for it. How do I do the seat reservation without having to pay? kind regards, Miisa Koivula

My first post. I have taken European trains many times, however they have been point to point. And the only pass I’ve had was 40 (!!!) years ago. I’ve read over several of these boards and don’t see what I need to know.I am traveling in December to the Christmas markets. We have Eurail Flex 10 days in 2 months. They are NOT activated. I have my pass linked in the app, not my husbands yet.. I have a trip named in My Trips. I have several trains picked out that I want to take. Here are  my questions: I need to copy and paste this trip to create one for my husband and if I need to add a train, it will need to be done twice, once for me and once for him. Correct?How do these trains get on my pass? I DO NOT have the toggle on the side of the train to add to pass. I don’t have any indication that a day is being used. This is the biggest question. Will it show up when I activate? Do we not have them  (the toggles) on Flex passes? Seat assignments. From reading several posts, I glean that we s
