Get ready to travel

I HAVE A PAPER PASS NOT A MOBILE PASS.  HOW AM I GUARANTEED A SEAT ON A TRAIN IF THE JOURNEY DOES NOT REQUIRE A RESERVATION?  I AM TRAVELING IN FRANCE 

Using the ferry to go to Evian or Vevey / Chillon, is it possible to get a discount with IR passes? And if so, is this only at the ticket office on the day and do the ferries ever fill up? We only have 4 hours in Lausanne and so have few departure options. many thanks if you can help!

I read a post of two years ago. I want to confirm if this is still the same.My mobile pass and my friends pass are on my phone. Can we also add them to her phone for backup? E.g. when phone battery dies, phone breaks or is lost?

Hello everyoneI purchased several seat reservations for Spanish AVE and Alvia trains via the Interrail reservation service and happyrail.com. By accident, I put the Interrail mobile pass number instead of my personal ID number in the field while booking through happyrail.Would that be a problem while boarding the train? Or is there a possibility to change this wrong information?I also need to do some reservations for regional trains (Santiago - Vigo, Vigo - Porto, Badajoz - Merida, Merida - Sevilla), which aren’t possible to book online. Has anyone already tried to buy a regular ticket for these trains and change it later to a seat reservation only at the ticket office in Spain?

Hello,I’m trying to book the sleeper from Hamburg to Stockholm on 1st August. It says there is track work and it can’t be booked yet. Trains are bookable for the 5th August though.Does anyone have any idea what track works there are and when the timetable might be published?Also it seems I can no longer do a test run to find out Interrail prices (I haven’t bought the pass yet) because it needs a valid pass number (I tried an old one and tried creating a pass cover number which didn’t work).Thank you.

HiI need some help. I am planning to travel from Oslo to Bergen.There is a train that leaves Oslo at 23.03hrs from Oslo. in May /2025I have 1st class pass.When I go to the app , it tells me I need to make a reservation. and 1st class freeBut it does not let me book it.If i select 2nd class - 2 Class - cost 16 Euro.Can somebody pls assist me. Does this mean my 1st class pass does not work on this train and I have to take 2nd class  ?? Bit confusedappreciate if somebody could enlighten me.

HI I intend to travel from Norwich to London to catch the Eurostar. This involves activating the pass and using one of my days. What I am unsure about is if there are any peak time restrictions on using the interrail pass, for example boarding a train which arrives in London before 10am. ( Greater Anglia’s definition of Peak time train) 

So I am able to go from Stazione Termini Roma to the Francfort sur le Main to Gare de l'Est? we are not very familiar with high speed train stations so I just want to make sure we go to the correct train station. and do we need reservations for these train specifically

Do I need a seat reservation for that journey? in OBB there are no seats or reservation is not necessary? In a eurail it does not say anything about whether this route needs a seat reservation. On trains in Austria they always ask me to reserve a seat, I have Eurail first class, only for my first class do I need a reservation?

Family of 4 traveling to UK and Paris. I believe I have read enough articles to post my question. It appears that I will need to book 4 Eurail Global passes since we are traveling to multiple countries. Arrive in London on 4/10 and will take the 10:00 train to Paris. That train requires an additional pass. We would need a 2 day pass to have a return from Paris to London on 4/13. We would then make seat reservations on 4/14 from London to Edinburgh (no additional passes purchased) and then seat reservations for the Edinburgh to London return 4/20 (no additional passes purchased).  Is there any reason to purchase a 5-day versus 4-day global pass? Does the above itinerary work or make sense?Appreciate any help you all can provide. Thanks!

Im planning to travel from Geneva To Naples on 15th May.Could anyone suggest a route with mimimal reservations fees?I know it'll l be a very long day and would prefer not to arrive too late.Thanks

I’ll be travelling this August (Sunday 31st) from Aumale to Paris and then onto Gloucestershire via London.Ideally I don’t want to get into London too late as I know Sunday timetables often get delayed etc on the line from London to Stroud. Do you think this (below) is enough time?I can’t leave Aumale before midday: I’m toying with getting a taxi from Aumale to Beauvais then the train from there to Paris (I have to get a taxi from my accommodation to Aumale train station anyway).There only seem to be trains from Beauvais to Paris every two hours - do they increase the frequency in the summer by any chance? SUNDAY 31st AUGUSTAumale depart: 13:14Beauvais arrive: 14:12Beauvais dep: 14:40Paris arr: 15:57Paris dep: 17:02London arr: 18:30London dep: 19:30Stroud arr: 20:59 Thanks in advance!

Hello, I’ve plan the itinary I want to do, and now I would like to book the tickets. But I don’t understand how the platform works. For example, when I look at the maps, they say that Bari and Brindisi are linked by a train, but when I go to book a trip and the train available, it always says that it is not available.  What should I do ? Hello everyone!I would like to ask everyone about buying the first class ticket with the second class pass.I have the second class Eurail pass and purchased the first class ticket of TGV with the pass via SNCB. I wonder if it is okay by regulations of TGV to buy the first class ticket with the second class pass.Of course, I paid more fare with my second pass (about 60 €) than with the first class pass (about 20 €). Thank you!

Why do I need a Eurail pass to only travel from Southampton, England to London, England and back to Southampton? Can I just purchase train tickets without a Eurail pass? 

Hi eveyone! This is the first time I have used an Interrail pass. I’m much looking forward to it!I have a Global Pass.  I want to reserve a seat for a journey from Vienna to Brussels. I know the train/s on which I want to travel. I have found the section of the ÖBB website where I can reserve the seats. The Interrail instructions tell me to “go to the ÖBB website or use their app, select your travel details, choose "Interrail/Eurail" as your pass type, and then select the desired train and seat reservation option to add it to your booking”. I have completed the first two of these steps but I cannot find where to choose ‘Interrail/Eurail’. I have scrolled down the page and scoured the website. I can’t find anywhere to chose m Pass Type. Can you please help?

I want to make sure that my planned itinerary makes sense, and that the Global Pass I purchased includes trains that get me to each country from the previous. Here is my planned trip:Start in England. Next stop Paris. (I have purchased the ticket for this separately.)Next stop Amsterdam, NetherlandsNext stop Helsinki, Finland (I was told that Helsinki is NOT a stop on Eurail. Is this true? Is it a special destination?)Final stop Stockholm Sweden.Is this the best order? Are trains available between stops? Anything else I need to know? This is my first, and probably my last trip to Europe. It will take place in May - early June, and Sweden is probably the last stop (or if a better order makes sense that put Sweden either first or in the middle, I’d like to know). Let me know if I can supply any additional information. Hi, we’re travelling to Europe in June/July this year. Trying to book a trip from Interlaken, Switzerland to Florence, Italy in early July 2025 but only 1 option coming up which is a 18hr journey. Is it still too early to be booking this trip and can I assume there will be more options available to us in a couple of months when it’s a bit closer to the travel date?Thanks. :)

hi everyone..thank you in advance for your insights..we will be traveling around Europe in April-May. We are planning on catching a train from Milan to Tirano and from Tirano, italy take the Bernina Express...And get off in St Moritz and catch a train until we arrive in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Anyone know if I get 4 inbound/outbound days in a 5 days or a 7 days adult global pass as a swede? (I for instance got 4 inbound/outbound days in a recent 7 days adult global pass).I am asking this since I am considering staying a few days in the south of Sweden (Scania) before continuing my itinerary towards France and then finally I go home again to Stockholm, Sweden. And I also thought about doing the same on the journey back, i.e. staying in the south of Sweden (Scania) for one or two nights before using my final travel day to travel home (from Malmö to Stockholm). I might have to use 3-4 days of travel inside of Sweden to make this work. Would this be equivalent to "misusing the pass" (which I saw someone writing in a discussion about these pilots with 4 outbound/inbound trips)?

I have checked the rail planner app, and Rail Europe.Railplanner states £6 reservation fee for all trains from Sunderland to London.However rail europe states no reservation required.This has confused me, and Im wondering how to log the journey as free.

Hi all,I am travelling through Italy, France, Switzerland and Slovenia this April-June, and I am trying to determine the best value option for train travel. My first journey will be on April 22, my last on June 3. I’ve listed every planned train journey below.I’m trying to determine the best-value option. Should I get a Eurail pass, a Swiss Pass, or a combination of passes and single fare tickets?Are all the below trips worth using a whole day of a pass, or are some/all of the journeys short enough/regional enough for a standalone ticket to be better value? If so, what days would you use a pass on? What pass would you suggest?Complicating things somewhat is the fact I’m travelling with my partner up until Lyon, and we would obviously like to be seated together on those train journeys we take.
