Get ready to travel

Hi,I'm traveling to Italy soon and i can't seem to find a few trains in the Rail Planner app. I've read that Trenitalia TPER doesn't share the timetables for their trains, how do one find out if it is one? Finding this out right after timetable change can also be difficult, as one doesn't have any data to compare times with.So, why aren't some trains showing up in the Rail Planner app?

Hi my dear fellow interrailers,I might have a kind of basic question, but as many others I don’t find my exact answer in the forum, so I’ll ask here: Last summer I bought a global flexi pass (5 days wihtin 1 month) and it says Activate by june 18th 2025. So that means I have to travel until the july 18th 2025, right? Because my plans have changed several times and I can’t travel until end of july.If that’s not possible with my current pass, can I exchange it, or do I have to cancel it and buy a new one?Thanks so much for your time! Hello, my husband and I will be traveling from Munich to Paris, and when trying to make a seat reservation through the rail planner app it guides me to make a seat reservation via the the SNCB website https://travel.b-europe.com/eurail-ge/en/booking#TravelWish, once I fill all the information in it asks for my pass cover number, I can't seem to find that number anywhere. I found this website https://www.eurail.com/en/book-reservations#/generatePassCoverNumber that can generate a pass cover number but I don't know how or where to find my mobile pass number. I looked through the confirmation email when I purchased the passes but it's not showing a “mobile” pass number that is 6 characters long and can contain numbers and letters.  The numbers I see within the confirmation email include: Order Number, & Pass Number, mind you it’s not stating its a “mobile” pass number. Within the Rail Planner app, I can view the pass reference (which is the same as the pass number on the confirmation

Hello, my family and I are arriving in the UK from the US on January 11. We have the dream of traveling Europe by train. We would like to see as much of the highlights as possible . I’m looking for recommendations as to the best train route to take.

We are making plans to go to Italy by train, from the Netherlands through Germany and Switzerland. We are trying to figure out whether it is cheaper with an EUrail pass or with regular tickets. I find this difficult for my 13 year old child.On the DB site is says: Children aged 6-14 travel free when accompanied by someone aged 15 or over. However, they must be specified at the time of booking.Does anyone know if an adult travelling with an EUrail pass can take a 13 year child without an EU rail pass on the train in Germany for free?  

Hey Guys, I'm 18 and this summer I want to do my first interrail with a travel buddy. I need help with planning as I bought a 15 days global pass to go and come back to ItalyThe city from where I am starting is Palermo which I'm going back before the end of the pass. The route would be Palermo-Zurich-Wien. Then I will be stopping at Bratislava to go to Prague (Bratislava-Prague) and Krakow (Bratislava- Krakow). After that I am going from Bratislava to Budapest, and Budapest-Bucarest-Istanbul-SofiaNow here comes the problem. From Sofia I wanted to take a shortcut from Sofia to Belgrade but I can't find anything to go to it. Also because I wanted to go to Zagreb and Ljubljana before going back to Palermo. I need y'all guys help you figure this out and also to see if any of you have tips or did this before

France and Spain - How to travel on trains with minimum or no extra fee ( France : TER, Intercitie, regional, etc. Spain : Largo Recorrido, Regional, Cercanias, ( Talgo ? )) in other words, NOT on TGV or AVE high speed, so as to avoid extra costs : do some need a seat reservation ? Can this be done in advance / or at stations ? I'm asking for advice from experienced Interail travellers about how to keep any seat reservation costs to a minimum or travel free on slower services...Is it better to book through national rail providers websites ( SNCF / RENFE ) rather than on the Interail site or links, to avoid extra admin costs, etc. ? or does it seem that we are directed to tickets with extra costs - or is it a case of being flexible and travelling more slowly on regional trains in order to be able to use Interrail Global Pass with the least costs or none, to improvise if referred on a daily basis - though you might find Interail quotas not available and be forced to pay extra to travel..

Hello. My wife and I are planning a trip to Europe in September 2025. We will visit France, Switzerland and Italy over a period of 3 weeks. Our major means of transportation is intended to be the Eurail Pass, but we will be spending some time in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland, and would appreciate some advice on the best options for travel there. Our current plan is to buy a 7 non-consecutive day pass and also a 3 or 4 day Jungfrau pass. We would use the Eurail pass to travel from Paris to Colmar, Colmar to Lucerne, Lucerne to the Jungfrau region (Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald probably), and then stay 4 nights there. We understand that the Eurail pass would be strictly limited in the Jungfrau region, so we would purchase a 3 or 4 day Jungfrau pass to get around between Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Wengen, etc, while we were there. We would then use out Eurail pass to take us out of Switzerland and on to Italy, where we would spend the remainder of our vacation. I’ve done some

I use to travel with paperpass and prefere that. But due to the discount right now, and I don't yet now my travel date, I consider trying the mobile pass. But are there still problems when using the app, or are most of the problems people experienced solved? I am not super keen to rely on technology, if it is not working properly or difficult to use.

Hello, my family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) is planning to utilise the Nightjet service from Amsterdam to Basel in July 2025. We are understanding that these cannot be booked at moment, but had two queries we are asking the community for assistance 😀We are planning to purchase a Eurail Global 4 day Pass & reserve a 4-bed couchette; will the Eurail pass offer a discount on the total fare? Will we only need to pay the reservation fee?Also, because the travel is overnight, would this count as 1-day or 2-days against our pass? We are planning onward train travel in Switzerland immediately following our morning arrival into Basel.Thank you! 

I would like to travel from Barcelona to Alicante or Elche on December 24 using a Eurail Pass. I have the following questions: For trains like the Eurostar, I was able to check seat availability on the Eurail website even without purchasing the pass. However, for the route in Spain mentioned above, it seems like I can only make a reservation after obtaining the pass. If I purchase the pass but there are no available seats, the pass would be useless. Therefore, I would like to check seat availability in advance. What is the best way to do this?

Hello all, we are spending 30 days in Europe for the month of May 2025. We have our 1st Class EuroRail Passes and I’m trying to reserve seats ahead of time. However, it’s not letting me. Below is our itenerary. We have our AirBnb’s reserved already. Hello! I’m trying to figure out the travel day scenario and how it works. When I do the planner it says I should need 4 days, but then takes me to purchase 5 days. Right now we are looking at doing the following 4 trips. Rome → Bologna (Thursday mid day)Bologna → Rome (Friday morning)Rome → Florence (Monday morning) Florence → Venice (Wednesday morning) Based on this I assume I just need a 4 travel day in one month. But it isn’t helping me enough to explain it properly.  Additionally, is it better to go pass vs individual. Our travel friends did first class pass. But we have an extra day of travel over them.  thank you!!

 I'd like to ask because I want to book an Eurail Pass seat but it doesn't work. If you try to book a seat without logging in, it will pop up as shown in the picture belowbut, Log in to the account where you registered your pass and click on the seat reservation and it disappears like the picture. So I can't make a reservation. Does anyone know the solution? 

Hi Community!We are going to Amsterdam for 4 days in February, and Rome for 4 days also.  We luckily have 4 days in-between!  Feb. 23 to Feb. 27.  Our current itinerary had us going back to New York, but we would rather make the trek between by train.Here is our thought process, but please advise if anyone has some better options!We are going to get a Global Pass for 5 days.  Feb. 23 - early train to Brussels.  Spend the day in Brussels (Feb. 23)Feb. 23 - Night train to BerlinFeb. 24 - Day in Berlin (Overnight in Berlin)Feb. 25 - Day in Berlin - Night train to MunichFeb 26 - Day in Munich  -  Here is where we need some helpFeb 26  ..  ideally we would do a night train Munich to Pisa..  but I don’t think there is a route? We would prefer to make a stop in Pisa without losing an entire day - is that possible, or should we try to find a night train directly to Rome?  Our check in is Feb. 27 Is there a Better way to see as many countries as we can in between Amsterdam and Rome in these fou

Hi, I'm planning my Interrail trip and I have a train from Zermatt to Paris with 3 connections:Zermatt to Visp Visp to Lausanne Lausanne to ParisThe only part of the trip that allows me to make a seat reservation is the third part (Lausanne to Paris), and I'm a bit worried that I might not be able to take the train due to full capacity on the previous two connections, which don't allow seat bookings.
