Hi! I’m going to be travelling with my interrail pass, together with 2 of my parents (Eurail pass holders) and now we are on the stage of trying to book all the necessary reservation seat. I have several questions:So after learning how to work with the app, is it true that in the interrail app itself, we only need to save the trip routes in our app, then slide and activate the yellow QR code on the day of travel (this is to show the ticketing staff that we have the ticket for the train). Whereas for the reservation seat, we just need to purchase separately from the official website (e.g. SBB, DB, RailEurope, TrenItalia, etc). So later on we have an e-ticket of the number of the seat as well from these websites. Is this correct? I’m trying to book our first seat reservation (for the train of Paris Est -> Strasbourg on 23rd July at 06.52 A.M just like the one stated on the rail planner app). I want to travel from san sebastin (spain on the border with France) to Holland in 2 days (9 -10 augoust) last years I did it via Bordeaux Paris to liege ( and it was perfect ) but I like to travel different way this year but I can see if it possibel, Has someone idea for me?Thanks Taafi

HallöchenWir fahren am 17.08. Mit dem Interrail Globe Pass von Madrid (Spanien) nach Porto (Portugal). Ich habe auf mehreren portugiesischen Webseiten wie dieser hier gelesen, dass man in Portugal je nach Zug Sitzplatzreservierungen vornehmen muss, diese aber nur in Portugal am Bahnhof möglich sind. Unten Ausschnitte von der Webseite (auf Deutsch) und der Link dazu.  https://www.seat61.com/trains-and-routes/lisbon-to-porto-by-train.htm#Porto-LisbonNun reise ich von Madrid das erste Mal nach Portugal, so kann ich für diese Strecke noch keine Sitzplatzreservierung in Portugal vornehmen. Auf der Interrail-Seite kann ich diese Verbindung jedoch auch nicht finden.  Habt ihr Erfahrungen und ist für diese Route eine Sitzplatzreservierung notwendig? Und mit welchen Verbindungen habt ihr Erfahrung?   Danke für eure Hilfe und Tipps! 

Hallo Ich habe bereits in anderen Fragen darüber gelesen, dass es schwierig ist, eine Optimale Verbindung von Bordeaux (Frankreich) nach Madrid (Spanien zu finden). Dort habe ich gelesen, dass man von Bordeaux nach Hendaye (Frankreich) fahren soll, dann dort mit Euskotren (habe ich herausgefunden, diese fahren ja alle 30min) nach Irun und dann von Irun nach Madrid. Dies ist nun mein Problem. Von Irun nach Madrid gibt es nur Züge um 07:00 Uhr am morgen oder dann erst um 15:00 Uhr am Nachmittag. Diese Züge am Nachmittag kommen erst gegen 23:00 Uhr in Madrid an, was recht spät ist. Zudem muss man auf dieser Zugstrecke mehrmals umsteigen.  Ich habe bereits andere Verbindungen von San Sebastian oder Bilbao nach Madrid gesucht, aber diese fahren alle erst am Nachmittag wie dieser von Irun, und man muss auch viel umsteigen.Habt ihr Tipps?  Herzlichen Dank fürs teilen eurer Erfahrungen!

Hey everyone,I'm new to the Interrail Global Pass and have a question about my outbound journey. I know there are probably similar posts out there, but I want to be absolutely sure!My plan is to take a night train from my home in Italy (let's call it point A) to Austria (point B) on August 1st. I get that only one travel day is used for this, even though I'll arrive in Austria on the 2nd.Here's where I'm unsure: I need to take two trains from my hometown to point A on the same day (August 1st). I know I can use as many trains as I want on a travel day, but should I add the night train first or the two local trains? I'm worried about messing things up since my outbound journey would have already started.Does this make sense? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!As for my inbound journey, I'll manually input:Point B (Germany) to Villach (Austria) Villach to point A (Italy) Two trains from point A to my hometownDoes that sound right?Thanks in advance!PS. seat reservation already done ;

We bought a couple of Global Passes yesterday (7 days in a month - 1st Class) which we secured just before the 20% discount ran out. Only condition is I can’t book anything commencing before Sep 1st, and we don’t leave Australia until Sep 8th, and won’t start the ticket use until late Sep.Made our first booking today (London to Zurich) - no problem.Up to the second booking now (Florence to Rome) and have noticed an anomaly.reservation fees start from EUR30 (1st & 2nd - 2 reservations) as soon as I select a specific service, the price jumps to EUR56 - no matter which service if I try my next booking (London to Milan) same thing occursIf I log out, all bookings on these routes revert to EUR30.Is there something strange occurring in Italy with reservations atm, or is this just the railway company gouging extra for the component of the ticket price they didn’t get? If it’s the latter, I’m feeling very ripped off!!!

Hallo.Ich möchte am 1. August mit dem Mobil / Global Pass von Hamburg nach Härnösand (Schweden) fahren. Ich habe mir eine Verbindung herausgesucht, bei der ich in Kopenhagen und in Stockholm mehrstündige Aufenthalte habe, weil ich wegen der Grenzkontrollen mit langen Verspätungen rechne. Nun kann ich diese Verbindungen aber gar nicht als durchgehende Reise eintragen, weil nur Verbindungen mit bis zu einer Stunde Umsteigezeit automatisch erkannt werden. Ich müsste also drei Teil-Fahrten für die Reise eintragen. Werden die als drei Reisen gezählt? (Sitzplatzreservierungen habe ich bei der Deutschen und der Schwedischen Bahn separat gebucht.) Gibt es eine andere Möglichkeit? Viele Grüße Stefan

Hello everyone !On Thursday 25th. of July I will be travelling from Pisa in Italy to Genève in Switzerland via Nice and Lyon in France. I’ve booked seat reservations with trenitalia as far as the border town of Ventimgilia and should theoretically proceed on to Nice, then Lyon and Finally Geneva. However I’ve noticed that the intercity that I have booked (IC 659) from Genoa to Ventimiglia is almost constantely delayed which could be a problem for me as I have to take the 13h17 train (86042) from Venimiglia to catch my TGV (6850) in Nice to reach my destination. I could go on taking the next train from Ventimiglia but I wouldn’t go further than Lyon as I would arrive after the departure of the last train to Geneva… I have asked to trenitalia’s staff multiple times what could I do in this situation but they have always said to me that, with an interrail, they cannot pay me an hotel for the night or give me a normal ticket to continue my journey the next day (According to them, I would ha

Evening all! I was planning to travel from Laufenberg to Friedrichshafen on sunday the 25th August, They just got a notification about a timetable change and now it can’t find an alternative connection. Should I wait a few days and see if it fixes itself or is it better to pursue other routes? Or is it due to engineering works? fbanks!

Hi Every one, I am planning a trip from Hamburg to Italy for 7 days by booking Eurail Global Pass along with my wife and kid(5 years) in August month end.Route is like this:Hamburg → Milan → Venice → Florence → Pisa → Rome → Vatican city → HamburgI have few questions related to this ticket.Is it good idea to travel with this ticket rather than multiple Train tickets ? Will this ticket will be valid across the Local Trains,Buses,Metros, Trams and Ferrys ? If seat reservation needed , then can I book the seat through DB App or website or corresponding service provider app or web rather than booking in this app as its saying more than its service provider app.

When buying an Interrail pass on interrail.eu, "Plus" (23 EUR extra) is automatically added on checkout. If you don't want that, you first have to notice it and then unselect it. I'm not sure if it's allowed to add optional extras automatically but regardless of that: it is undesired. Please change that. If you click on "Continue shopping" during checkout and then return to the checkout later, then "Plus" is added back again! This is even less desirable, since you should be able to trust that your order is not changed after you've saved it.Any feedback from Eurail (@Nanja :) appreciated.

Hello, mijn naan ik Liset en ik ben mijn eerste interrail reis aan het plannen/reserveren voor begin Augustus. Nu ga ik o.a. van Madrid naar Lyon via Narbonne. Nu kan ik voor moet ik voor beide stukken een stoel reserveren en bij het eerste gedeelte krijg ik de melding dat het niet via interrail.eu gereserveerd kan worden. Bij de ‘other ways to book this seat reservation’ staat: ‘Book in person at a main station in Europe’ of ‘Reseervations only locally at train station in Spain’. Mijn vraag is of ik dus gewoon in NL op Den Haag Centraal een reservering kan doen of dus alleen wanneer ik op Madrid op het station ben en of dit dan het desbetreffende station moet zijn waar ik van vertrek? Bedankt

Currently railing round europe on a 7 day pass largely making it up as i go.  I havent used any inbound or outbound days yet and one oprion i have is i could fly back to uk from a european city after using 5 days up.  Question is if both remaining outbound and inbound days are still unused could i use them to go to somewhere in uk?  Or somewhere in europe (say a weekend in amsterdam) or would they be lost?

A couple of weeks ago it looked like raileurope.com had introduced a €7,45 booking fee for reservations-only. A few days later the fee disappeared again. See the last part of this topic (it got a bit off-topic from the original question): A few days ago, I had a e-mail conversation with Raileurope about another subject. But I also asked them what this temporary booking fee was about. Was it just a bug or was it their intention to putting fee on reservations only. I got an answer back, that they had no intention to put a fee on reservation.They also said that if I had been charged for a booking fee, I should contact them. That was not the case for me (I was just worried about future reservations). But if anyone else has been charged for a booking fee from raileurope.com, I would encourage them to contact Raileurope. Maybe you can get a refund (In the e-mail, they said that they would “investigate and assist”). Please include booking reference number.Palle Dam

No idea however, how or where they can then be booked.

As I have noticed, the Rail Planner app is not the best choice to track the platforms and changes in time of trains as it is not really updated. Then, is there an app that I can search all of my trains and can see the live tracker of time of arrival/delays, and which platforms I need to get on and off?  I know it is possible to see the screen on the station, but my trip consists of multiple big trip with 3-4 transits and I need to hop and and off very quickly in some of them. It would be very nice to be able to live track my train when I am in it, then see which platform it will arrive on, and see which platform I need to be for my next train. So I already have an idea in mind before getting of the train. Most app like trainline, DB app (please tell me if i’m wrong), offer the live updates thing, but I think I can only plan my trip if I purchase the tickets on their app itself. But if we have interaill pass, we don’t really “book” any of our trips, only the ones with seat reservation. 

I just bought the Global Pass (5 days) for a journey with 5 friends and i realize now that i had to buy all the passes for all the 6 people (me included) but i only bought my pass.Is this a problem or its better to buy separate passesIf this is a problem there is a way to solve this?

Hi,I have EuroRail Global pass.I have just made the reservation on NightJet for  Zurich to Prague for my family (2 adult , 1 youth and 1 child).My question was: Is this reservation sufficient or do I need to book a ticket also for that route using by Euroral Global Pass ? Please advise, Thanks
