Get ready to travel

hello! what could be the best possible route so the travel time is much shorter? was hoping for longer train rides for lesser stops and transfers.

I have seen on the SBB website that there is a direct train from Lugano to Venice Santa Lucia which leaves Lugano at 10:30, arriving Venice at 14:42.  It is a train from Zurich.  However the train does not appear on the Interrail app.       Can anyone explain why?Peter 

I am from the Netherlands and am planning to travel to Lisbon - Porto - Barcelona - Lyon - Utrecht. However, the interrail website doesn't make it easy to understand wheter (or not) I can book the seat reservations online.The Lisbon →  Porto train seems to be booked at the station, since these trains go regularly this should not be a problem.We were also planning on traveling from Porto to Barcelona, on the 9th of July, going:Porto Campanha → Vigo Guixar 8:13 → 11:35Vigo Urzaiz → Madrid Chamartin 13:20 → 17:36Madrid Puerto de Atocha → Barcelona-Sants 19:00 → 21:30. In Vigo we could walk to the other station, in Madrid we should take the metro.However, at the moment i cannot book these seat reservations online at interrail. Is that correct, as the website states it should be possible for the AVE, Euromed & Alvia trains? If not, and i should book seat reservations at the counter, how hard is that in the summer? Hi!I will start my Interrail trip in two weeks. I have some cities I want to visit, but I don't want to plan everything in advance, as I want to be flexible if I like a city or when I meet some nice people. Some of the trains I want to take have a required reservation:Munchen to Milan Milan to Florence/Firenze Florence/Firenze to Ancona Ancona to BolognaI'm curious if it's fine if I book those trains the day before I will head to that city or that it is really needed to book them right now otherwise they will sell out way before the travel day?Thanks in advance! :)

What is the difference between Global pass and Europass? Can they be used in all countries?

I wondered if anyone could kindly help me? I’m a dual Irish-British citizen born in London, grown up in London and living in London. I understand that I need to buy an Interrail pass, rather than a Eurail one - that’s pretty clear to me from this link: https://www.interrail.eu/en/support/interested-in-interrailing/do-i-need-an-interrail-or-eurail-pass It also says here ‘If you're a legal resident of Europe but not a citizen, we ask for your country of residence when you place an order.’ This also makes sense. However this implies that if you are a citizen of Europe, they won’t ask for your country of residence? But then it says ‘If you have more than one passport or official residency (dual citizenship), the Pass you use must be based on where you actually live: If you have 2 European passports, use the passport or national identity card (I

I tried to book the sleeper train on Polrail from Budapest to Krakow but they are only giving me a mail or pick up in Poland option for the tickets.  I cannot do either.  I am looking to book a ticket in 2.5 weeks.  I am looking to book one double couchette and one triple for myself and my kids. I tried trainline and that didnt offer me the option of plugging in my Eurail pass for priceresuction; I tried OBB and that didn’t offer me the option of booking a couchette; and I tried MAV and that too didn’t offer me the option of booking a couchette.  HELP!

Hi!My friend and I are travelling through Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Germany with a Global Pass from 19th July until the 9th of August. We can’t seem to figure out how we are supposed to book our trains. We’re afraid that all the trains are already full. Is it necessary to book our train in advance or can we just wing it and make a reservation on the spot?  Thanks in advance!!

Hello :) I have the problem on July, 20.2024 to July, 21.2024 that the NJ from Munich to La Spezia is not in the Rail Planner App. But the ÖBB Night jet Website says that the train is driving normally without any problems and the interrail Pass is included, just paying 9.90€ for the ride. What do I have to do? I only know and the Nightjet Website says only that the Nightjet to Rome is not driving until September. Thank you :)

I am dreaming that we got a global pass and were able to see Portugal, Lisbon, Rome, Naples, Scotland, Ireland, and London within 20 days. Is the dream real?

Hello, I would like to book a train ticket from Vienna to Munich on August 14, 2024 at 7 o'clock.I can't find a ticket for a direct train on this date.In addition, I am interested in a travel ticket from Munich to Zurich on August 15, 2024Is there a discount card that could be relevant for me? We are 2 adults arriving from outside Europe,I would appreciate your help.

I bought a “15-day EURAIL pass”, but it is not possible to reserve only seats from Barcelona to Lauterbrunnen via the EURAIL app/website. Where can I make this seat reservation for August 1st? Thanks for any information! 

Hi, will be using a Global pass and just read when making seat reservations  for train travel in Germany even an e-resevation has to be printed and carried with you. As I don't  have access to a printer what do I do.Thanks in advance for any comments

Hello Interrailers!I am looking at traveling from Lake Balaton (HU) down to Split on Friday June 7th.(There was an excellent connection via Celje in Slovenia but ÖBB has suddenly cut the Celje-Split service down to Wednesdays only, from 3 times a week).Now, we can join up with the train from Budapest [IC 204] which arrives in Zagreb Glavny at 21:59.The night train from Zagreb Glavny to Split [NT 1821] leaves 31 minutes later, at 22:30.According to Zugfinder, the IC 204 has been on time every day for the last month.Whaddya reckon? Has anyone attempted that connection? Successfuly or unsuccessfully?If we miss it, we’re good for finding a place to sleep at almost eleven at night… and leaving either at 7 am (yuk) or in the arvo and hitting Split late in the evening. We’ll be stopping in Zag anyway on the way back up, so we can happily give Zagreb by night a miss.Chance it?Love to hear if anyone has experience of this, good or bad.           

I’ll be in Karlovo for 3 days, then arrive in Plovdiv and plan to take sleeper to Istanbul on same day.Can I make Plovdiv-Istanbul reservation from Karlovo? Can I make Plovdiv-Istanbul reservation on the day in early August, or will it be fully booked? Can I just get on the train in Plovdiv on a seat, get to Dimitrovgrad and then try and find a spare couchette before the rest of the train gets cut? Or are there no seats in the first place?

What does it mean "not in the pass network"? I guess I cannot use the pass. I just want to confirm it.

We have a Scandinavian mobile flexi pass. On one travel day we will be travelling from Åndalsnes to Lillestrøm and we are contemplating popping into Oslo and back, a 10 minute trip. These trains are operated by Vy. Is the pass valid for Lillestrøm-Oslo-Lillestrøm journeys?  If so, with trains running every 10 minutes, do we need to add the specific train to each journey, there and back?  One hopes that our data on the phone will still be valid...

Hello, I have some troubles finding easily night trains with Rail Planner app. When I check for only night trains it doesn’t show the ones that exist. From exemple you have one from Hamburg to Copenhagen.Is there a quick way around it? I want to explore my possibilities not knowing where my next stop is.Thanks a lot!Augustin

Folks have a bit of a dilemma and , finding no real info , so I'm hoping someone can tell me..... We are Irish Citizens ,So not the Own country rule....So We have interrail passes , now let's say We go from Florence to Rome and need to return to Florence that evening....so a day trip, then the next day , let's say go from Florence to Venice ,and return back that evening.....With Florence as a possible base.....is this allowed or classified as commuting, even tho not actually commuting....??? I have seen posts online, where people were Told by train conductor this was not allowed and invalid as can't do return.....the posts seem to be a good few years old , Now I was thinking, Maybe book as singles , so using examples above, but making individual seat reservations for outbound and inbound....I hope I'm making Sense....OR DO WE NEED TO WORK IN A LOOP FORMAT, Only using any given city once , which tbh will be a logisical nightmare.....not ness those actual destinations, just using as an e
