Hello, I am South African citizen currently in Germany for 5 months, I got the national visa. I have two questions. Firstly, do I buy the interrail pass or Eurail pass?Secondly, I am planning to travel between 31st July - 21 August. I am planning to 8 countries spending 2 days in one city in each country, Italy being an exception I will do 3 cities. I want to know if I will need the 22 days pass or I can buy the 15 days pass since some days I will not be travelling. I am confused by the consecutive days whether it means travelling daily or I can stretch it in between days. Thank you for your assistance in advance.Isa
I want to plan my journey using my 10 day, 2 month pass. The pass is on my phone and I am adding trips to it but when I log in to my online account the pass does not show! Why not? I want/need to book seat reservations. Also my trips on my phone are not on my online account! I assume Interrail/Eurail get entertainment from frustrating customers, after all they have already bought the product so they can treat them however they wish but with no fear of them not buying! The latest is in trying to deal with two different entries in their customer databases as described above. I ama taken to the website from the app when I try to book reservations (hoping that the two individual accounts will find each other and connect, but no!). I am invited to add an account (have no idea why, already have an account albeit it doesn’t recognise my passes! So I add an account. I am asked to add a traveller by pass number and ‘last name’ which I do. I am then asked to add another traveller. The
Hello, I’ve added a trip to my app and added 5 travellers. I’ve booked seat reservations but on receiving the ticket via email there is only the one name on the ticket (the first alphabetically) but there are 5 seats listed. Would this be correct? It’s charged me for 5 seats but should we not receive 5 tickets? Or at least have all 5 travellers listed on the one ticket? Thanks
Hi, I am trying to reserve seats for my 2Y child for the route 18:35 Rome Termini --->22:59 Venice S. Lucia from https://www.raileurope.com/ . So as per instruction in website I am putting age as 6. At time of selecting seats and payment, website asking for my child date of birth. I am putting actual date of birth. App validating the age entered (6) and age as per date of birth mentioned (2) and showing error - “Passenger's date of birth doesn't match age: <name> will be 2 at time of travel”.Please suggest how can i book. Since its 4.5 hr of journey, i wanted to have seat for my child.DOB is a mandatory field on the form which i cannot skip.
Hi all - thanks for all your help so far. I have another query for tirano to milan route. I would be reaching tirano around 18.00 on 25th May by Bernina express. I have to reach Milan central on same day. Could you please suggest train route for same as I am not able to find on app. What can I see is below at 18:48 which has 2 bus changes. Is there no train or app is not showing? TIA
Hi there.I am looking for people how know about traintravel in Spain. After spending some time at the north cost we want to travel from Ovideo via Madrid to Barcelona. Unfortunately I can’t find any trains leaving Ovideo in August at all. Does ticket go on sale so late? From Barcelona we want to travel to Nimes in France. I am planning a trip this summer:Travel Day 1 - my home in England to Lyon, FranceTravel Day 2 - Lyon to Verona, ItalyTravel Day 3 - Verona to Trieste, ItalyTravel Day 4 - Trieste to Innsbruck, AustriaTravel Day 5 - Innsbrick to my home in EnglandWhen I started to plan on the website planner, this came up as six travel days - I am confused about why this is. Should I put Lyon as the first place I visit? If so, how do I plan the journey from my home?
Hi there,I am about to plan an Interrail-Trip with my family through the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain next summer. As seat reservations are really extraordinary expensive, we would like to skip them as often as possible. In the Netherlands and Belgium we will have some shorter journeys mainly up to one 45 minutes or one hour in an Intercity. Are trains in the Netherlands and Belgium normally crowded or shouldn’t it be a problem to fine some seats? We well be travelling late morning hours on weekdays and weekends. Thanks for your helpJohannes
I am an Indian citizen working in Germany. I have a German residence permit blue card.Bought an eurail pass to travel.I see here that,“If you're not a European citizen, but you are a legal resident of a European country, you should use an Interrail Pass”.https://www.eurail.com/en/help/interested-in-eurailing/do-i-need-a-eurail-or-an-interrail-pass But in below site here, it says,“If you are not a European citizen, but you are an official resident of Europe, you can “also choose” to use an Interrail Pass.”https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/articles/11252058710941-Do-I-need-a-Eurail-or-an-Interrail-PassCan I still use eurail pass with my Indian passport or should I convert to interrail ?If I need to convert, What should I need to do ?
Hi all,I have my Eurail ticket and I have downloaded the eurail app. Our trip starts next Sunday 20th May: London-Paris, Paris-Grindelwald, Grindelwald to Chur, Chur to Milan.Instead of booking seat reservations via the app I have reserved some seating via ‘Rail Europe (London to Paris and then Paris to Basel). I now see I can reserve seating via eurail app. When trying to do so, Grindelwald to Lucerne is ‘paper ticket’. Is there somewhere I can edit this? Otherwise it is asking me for the hotel address!! In fairness, seat reservations are not necessary but it’s Interlaken to Lucerne (scenic route) and just wanted to have seat booked just in case. Also, is there an update on the train line from Tirano to Milan Centrale? Can some assure me that it’s a 3 hour journey and is it best to book tickets separately on Trenord/Trenitalia website altogether as Eurail app says it’s a 5 hour journey!Another thing, on the app on my phone I have a trip called Adventure2024 but when I sign onto
If you haven't yet bought a global pass, can you make seat reservations on TGV?If yes, how? Thanks
Planning on getting a Eurail Global pass 22 Days for November and December travelling through Switzerland 8 days then onto Germany starting at Stuttgart for Christmas markets tour. Just want to know can we travel from Luzern to Stuttgart using the Eurail pass or do we have to go through Basel to get to Germany? Have read this on another site. Thanks for any advice.
We are looking at purchasing Eurail Global Passes and note that the web site states the following“Eurail and Interrail Pass holders with a pass valid for Austria can enjoy free public transport on the ÖBB bus network. The ÖBB Intercitybus (ICB) complements our top long-distance trains in the South of Austria as well as across the border to Italy. During your bus trip, you enjoy the service and the quality you are used to from rail travel.”Is this bus travel treated as a travel day for the pass or is it in addition to the travel days within the pass?Does it cover ALL OBB bus routes or just Intercitybus? Many thanks
Bonsoir! We're planning a trip from Amsterdam to visit the UK. If we buy global passes for the UK, is the Eurostar included, since it's travel to/from our home country (NL) ? Anything special needed to know on booking reservations on Eurostar? Also, if we buy first class passes, will that translate to Standard Premier on Eurostar? Thanks!
I am writing this inquiry on May 12, 2024. We live in the United States and will begin our European trip on August 21. We prefer paper passes over digital passes. How long will it take to deliver paper passes by mail to the eastern United States? Are signatures required for mailing (receipt) of paper passes? Also, if we do not receive the paper passes in time, can they be exchanged for mobile passes? Under this exchange scenario what is/are the process/conditions of exchange. Thank you.
I have searched Eurail website and I am not able to find a way to reserve ferry ticket. Does Eurail global pass include this ferry?
I am traveling in Portugal and cannot bypass the station gates. What can I do? It seems they use a chip detector for local travel cards. Is there anyway to use my Eurail pass to get through the gates and access the train platforms?
Hello,On the Rail Planner application, on a night train journey between Budapest (HUN) and Brasov (ROM) on 14 July 2024, I see that booking is compulsory and I am offered 3 fares: a seat at €5, a bed in a shared compartment at €15 and a private cabin at €100.When I go to the interrail.eu website to book my seat, I'm only offered a €5 seat, with no possibility of booking in a shared compartment.Does this mean that there are no more shared compartment seats? Or does it mean that you have to use another site?Because if I go to the website of the operating railway company, I can book a seat in a shared compartment, but at a much higher price...Sincerely
OK Traveling in August from Bayreuth DE to St. Moritz-It’s 9 hours with 4(!) transfers. Not sure it is advisable but particularly because one connection is 7 minutes. Is this a crazy endeavour? On one transfer it tells me its a 10 minute walk. This one in Nurnberg has nothing just “transfer”The means of getting between these two points are kind of limited. I could probably drive it but cars are insanely expensive with drop off in a different country as would be a car service though it might actually make some sense.I’m trying to plan carefully rather than put myself into a difficult situation.
Hello - I am in Australia looking to book a passholder reservation (Eurail global 2nd class) from Barcelona to Marseille on 4 July. This does not appear possible on the Eurail website and Rail Europe is not providing a passholder price, only full fare. Can I only book at a station once in Barcelona, and will passholder fares still be available then?thanks
Hello, I have EURAIL pass. I want to travel from Chur Switzerland to St. Moritz Switzerland. But I don’t see St. Moritz is a valid station for EURAIL. What I can do now?
I am trying to find a way to put up the cities i want to vist and how to book the passes. I am trying to cover as many cities as possible in the Schengen area and also include Ireland and United Kingdom.
I would like to make seat reservations before I actually arrive in Europe. Can I reserve seats with a non-activated pass? I am thinking Eurostar, ICE, etc. I have tried searching this forum for this topic - and indeed it has come up before. But usually the only answers side-step the question, and ask about the specific travel plans of that person asking. Can someone please let me know if it's possible to make reservations without activation? If not, then it's possible to find trains completely full.
We are planning a trip next year from 28 June to 12 July. We are holding off buying the pass to see if there is an Autumn/Black Friday offer. We can now book the Eurostar for our dates. Is it possible to make a booking before we buy the pass?
