Italy Plus Pass - 3 month rules

Ihave a misunderstanding about the terms of use of the Italy Plus Pass. When I look at the additional information on the website, it says:

“Book with flexibility

✔ Receive your Pass quickly via email

✔ Buy now, travel up to 3 months later

✔ Change your mind? 100% refund within 7 days of purchase—90% after”

Does this mean we can only buy the pass 3 months before travelling? Aren't we running the risk that all the trains will be fully booked by then? We want to travel in April, but we'd like to book the trains much earlier to be sure we get the times that suit us.

Italian trains are hardly ever fully booked, except for very busy days, and only then just a few days in advance.

You can buy a Global Pass instead, there should be possible to book it 11 months in advance and you can use it to get from/to Italy. The Interrail OC Pass Italy is only valid in Italy.

Yes, that’s a great idea. But we’d also like to get the Global Plus Pass (the seat reservations for the trains from Paris to Italy are very expensive). And with this Pass, there’s also a maximum booking window of 3 months. But I think we’ll take it anyway, hoping there will still be seats left on the Paris–Milan train, which is very busy, especially on our dates!
Thank you :)

Paris to Milan on the Frecciarossa is just €10 or €13 in 1st class and shouldn't need a credit on the Plus pass. Only the TGV is very expensive because SNCF. Either way, it's very unlikely they will be fully booked 3 months in advance.
