Good evening rail community I am planning to travel from Budapest to Bratislava on Sunday 19 October In the process I want to tick off another country visited so I thought it may be fun to make a very quick stopover in Bratislava The 08:12 to 10:44 trip from Budapest to Bratislava (Hlavna Stanica station) looks fine. Then will probably move on to Prague from Bratislava 12:26 to 16:39 (Regiojet) or the 13:58 to 18:18 (Metropolitan). What would you recommend between these two choices? Then I also need recommendations for the the short stayover.  Will probably want to keep onto my suitcase here.  Or is there left luggage storage available)? Also would you recommend reserving seats with  first class pass? Thanks!

I travel by train with my bicycle. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get a place for a bicycle on a long-distance train at short notice. However, if I only take regional trains to get home (I am coming from France and need to get to Berlin), it could take me several days.Is this possible with an Interrail ticket? How do I show this?

Hi, I met few days ago a dutch girl with her friend, leaning chinese, going to Dresde. We talked about many topics but did not have time to give our numbers, If you recongnize yourself, Let me know,Kinds regards,

Hello Eurail Support, My wife’s Eurail Global Pass (Pass reference: ZLPMYZ, 1st class Adult) was activated incorrectly. The 4th travel day was set to 26 August 2025, but in reality she did not use the pass that day. It should have been activated on 27 August 2025 instead. Now the system shows all 4 travel days as used, but she only traveled 3 days. Could you please check this error and restore one travel day? Thank you very much for your support.

I made a seat reservation using the Eurail app before planning my trip. I'd like to know how to add train seat reservations to my travel plans after the fact. This is my first time using the Eurail Pass and app. I'm from Japan.

To the Eurail Community,I recently returned from a trip to Europe using a Eurail pass but was unfortunately charged a penalty fare of 50 euros when travelling over the French/German border on a train from Strasbourg to Offenburg. I’m still not 100% what the issue was but I had either not activated the day ticket before boarding the train or had activated the day ticket but had not validated the journey that I wanted to make by using the little toggle button in the app. Has anyone had a similar experience of this with an Interrail/Eurail pass and did anyone get reimbursed?I wonder also whether people think the ticket inspector who charged me was a bit unfair? It seems she could have allowed me to get off at the next stop so I could select and activate another later journey going to the same destination. We had the conversation in French (not my first language) and I felt she was very tough and inflexible with the situation. Not a nice experience and poor customer service from my point o

Hi, I’m new to the Eurorail pass (not new to traveling, just have never gotten a Eurorail pass before) and plan on going to France, Switzerland and Italy in December 2025 (with a day trip to London and a day trip to Strasbourg some of the days).  I’m assuming it’s probably better to get a Eurorail pass for this trip, instead of buying one-way tickets between each destination (some destinations are day trips too).  Is this correct?  Any tips?  We will be in Paris for a week and then going to Switzerland and then Italy the remainder of the trip.  Thanks!

My country of residence is Germany and I am planning the trip around IT and some other parts, but will start on Amsterdam. From Amsterdam On the first day I would use my outbound travel from my country or wish to do so. But then from Amsterdam I am heading to IT, the easiest and fastest way is to pass through Germany once again. If I do that, would I use my inbound ticket already? In general am I permitted to do this or how does it work? Could someone provide their experience?

I’m planning a trip in September 2026 with my wife to Travisio in north east Italy in September 2026.  We would like to have two stops on the way there and also two on the way back.  We would be leaving from Lichfield in Staffordshire and travelling through London and leaving on a Thursday, ideally getting to Brussels for early afternoon on the first day then travelling onwards for a second night somewhere around halfway between Brussels and Travisio.  Then travelling onto Travisio on the third day, arriving in late afternoon.  Does that sound reasonable and any suggestions on routes and/or stopovers, please?  Also, could we do the trip with only one overnight stop, please, and so only have a four day pass in the month?  For the return journey, we would like to have the final night in Paris.  Any suggestions for routes and stopovers that that, please? Finally, does it make sense to buy the passes in January during the winter sale? Many thanks, Colin.

I have a query with Romanian Railways CFR  Calatori, but I am getting very confused answers. Here is the query trail:Dear Sirs,I have a ticket from Sibiu to Medias for 2 people on the 17:32 arriving 19:01 on 8th September on train R2567.  Ticket ID 29739615However when I look on your website at the timetables this train does not appear, only the R2569 at 19:35 arriving 21:07I need to be in Medias to catch the sleeper train to Wien which leaves Medias at 21:37 and I am worried about the short handover. Is the 17:32 running that day? If not, is my ticket valid on the 19:35? Will I definitely make my sleeper connection at Medias?Their reply: Dear customer,From the checks carried out, the train runs according to the book, there are no delays. We cannot predict what will happen that day.If it does not benefit you, give up the ticket - refund according to terms and conditions. My second query:Thanks for your reply,  but I don’t think I understand it.Are you saying that the 17:32 is still schedu

Is it possible to have paper pass as backup?I dont just want to rely on mobile app.

I am traveling with my family (2a, 2c) for two weeks in Jan 2026 and wish to travel exclusively by trains, Austria to France via Italy and Switzerland. However, for the last few months when I search the online timetables, the Eurail site returns with a message saying the timetable is not yet available. My concern is that is less then 6 months from now, and I wish to book accommodation based on the trains we catch, and the dates. How far in advance are timetables released? And if they are not released until closer to the month, how do I plan the itinerary without it? Thank you.

Hello, I’m planning to go to Milano on November 1st, 2025, with my Interrail pass. But the 7:29am direct train is not yet available in the pass, and the info message is really unclear. Do you know if it’s gonna be available in the pass? If yes, when? Thank you!Elise

Hi there!I’m planning a round trip from Hungary to Toledo in a few months and I’m interested if Interrail worth the price for me. The first train would probably be an EuroNight train from Budapest to Zurich. It can be booked on jegy.mav.hu and on shop.oebbtickets.at, however when I check “seat reservation only”, both of these display the trains as ticket not available, no matter the date. But If I uncheck it, I could buy a ticket without a problem. Interrail website won’t let me see its booking page before actually buying the pass. So my problem is that I don’t know if I’ll be able to book a seat, what type of seat it will be and what will it cost, without actually buying the pass. Is there a way to know these information in advance? Thanks,Zoltan

Hi I am intending to get eurail pass for 10 days for Xmas 1.i understand I might need to book some seat and according to the eurail site. It direct us to oebtickets. My quest is how to I link my eurail w the seat reservation. Or I just show the train master seperately my eurail pass on app and download seat pdf. Also my child is only 10yo, may I know if the system will try to put us together. My worry is he might be seperate fr either of us. 2. Does the site oebtickets works for all cities train. We are doing a long trip for 10 cities. Like to settle once on a single site 3. My trip is Dec. Is it too early now to make seat reservation? Are the schedule stable to booknow? TIA

Hi, we’re planning our interrail trip with 7 days global pass for the first two weeks of september. We’d like to visit main European capitals (Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Vienna and finishing up with sea in the Balkans). We live in the south of Italy and we’d rather to travel exclusively with the pass, preferabily minimizing seat reservation and additional costs. Do you think that’s possible leaving from Lamezia Terme? With which itinerary? We are especially in difficulty with inbound and outbound days 😩🙏🏻🫶🏻

To the Interrail community,I’m planning on spending around 4-5 days in Switzerland, probably using Interlaken as a base. I would appreciate any recommendations for things to do - I was planning on doing a couple of nice hikes, maybe go for a swim somewhere in nature and take a gondola up the mountains. I was thinking of visiting Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald but other suggestions would be welcome.  I’m on a budget and do not drive so places that are fairly accessible by train would be helpful. I’m also into sustainability so would prefer to avoid lots of tourists - I realise this is harder to do during the summer! Thanks,Felix

Hi guys- awful mistake I’ve made a spelling mistake in the name on my pass. I’m travelling tomorrow but haven’t activated- will the Zendensk respond in time?!?

hey y’all! i’m currently planning my first eurail trip for next may (i love planning things way far in advance), and i would love some advice on which stops to skip and which stops to definitely not miss! i love to explore nature and hike, and would love to visit smaller towns, but you’ll see that there are of course a few of the Really Big Stops in there. i’d hate to go to europe and not go to at least a few of the big stops. and of course i know that, honestly, none of these are small towns, they’re all pretty touristy, but they’re a tiny, tiny bit less touristy than some of the Big Giant Cities. my working list so far, in order, isbremen cologne heppenheim lauterbrunnen (+ interlaken) liechtenstein innsbruck ljubljana salzburg munich prague berlini’m planning on buying the 10 stops in 2 months eurail pass, but only spending about… 27 days total? i’ve only got a month total to travel. trying to whittle it down to 9 stops instead of 11. also trying to stay in that general area of coun

I have 3 destinations [trips] planned in a single week, Frankfurt to Zurich, Zurich to Geneva, Geneva to Rome. My 1st leg is all set, but I can't seem to assign my pass to the 2nd or 3rd legs of the trip. Each leg is on a different day. Can you only assign/activate a pass one trip at a time ? Meaning: I need to wait till my 1st leg has been completed before assigning my pass to the 2nd leg, then repeat... Help, leaving Sept 01, 2025. First time using Eurial pass and it's cell app.

Hi! We are two travellers going from Budapest to Zagreb the 29th of August by train and would want to know if there is other people that are doing the same route as we are having trouble taking the trains.

Because of some spare days this year I want to try an interrail trip during the cold season. And I'm curious how Christmas holidays and New Year's Eve is celebrated in other parts of europe. My plannings are to start in the middle of Germany around 21.12.25 and go to SW/S/SE of europe by train (15 days global pass) and to reach my home around 03.01.26.Maybe someone would accompany me on some or all stages? This sounds very vague (I already know 😊) but I'm open for new experiences and nice suggestions.

What is the best way to book when you need seat reservations? First book your seat reservation and afterwords the train trip in your app?I had first planned my trip , but when I wanted to make a seat reservation their was no place on that specific train. Then I take seat reservations on an other train. But I need to cancel my trip and started again. Is it better to do first the seat reservation and add the train to the app afterwards?

Hi, I booked seats for tomorrow Paris-Brussels-Köln through Happyrail.com When I got the confirmation email I get the impression only seats Brussels-Koln are booked, but not Paris to Brussels train. It looks like this: Any idea?

Hello fellow travelers! We fly into Zurich, Switzerland ( was cheaper than Munich) and take a train to Immenstadt, Germany (south-west of Munich) to visit family. Next, we plan on traveling from Immenstadt, Germany to Bolzano/ Bozen, Italy. Then travel from Bolzano/Bozen (Italy) back to Zurich to fly home to America. I’m trying to avoid having to be routed to Munich to get to Bolzano/Bozen Italy and from Bolzano Bozen , Italy back to Munich to get to Zurich, Switzerland. It adds a lot of time to the train trip. 6.5 hours of travel total. I’ve tried a few combinations, like going form Immenstadt to Salzburg, Austria and each time I’m routed through Munich first. Is there a way to avoid Munich or is it a hub and I can not be  avoided? Also is it worth upgrading to 1st class? I bought second class passes and thought I could book 1st class sits for the longer trips but that’s not an option. So I’m wondering if I should upgrade both passes to 1st class because of the length of the time on t
