I am planning my trip, but most trains do not yet have schedules for my desired dates. How can I add the journeys and modify them once bookings open?

I’d propose to do the planning with different timetable my favourite for the most countries is öbb scotty in it’s traditional interface https://fahrplan.oebb.at/bin/query.exe/dn?

When the timetable for your desired dates is not yet available, just check a same day of the week before timetable change (this year 13. dec)

I’m not sure if this falls under the topic of schedules, but since it is related, I’m including it here:
Assuming I already have a trip scheduled and have purchased the corresponding reservation for it, I take it that if I change the trip for any reason, the reservation is no longer valid and I have to buy another one—is that correct?

depends on the country and also on the reservations seller. usually conditions are shown when you book a reservation

A reservation is always for a specific train on a specific date. Sometimes you can change the reservation, and/or get a refund. Sometimes that is possible free of charge and sometimes there are costs involved. What is possible, depends on the exact train and where you bought the reservation.

I see it as logical.
