Train connections & reservations

Hello, I am trying to make a reservation for an OBB Nightjet Train from Basel SBB to Amsterdam Centraal with my eurail pass. On OBB’s site, the route is available if I click the option to purchase outright, but it is not available when I select a seat reservation only. I cannot find it on partner websites (eurail, b-europe) either… I am frustrated because I purchased the pass with the intention of using it to book some of these night trains. I can select the intercity train that I understand is connected for only a 3euro reservation, but I would prefer a couchette to sleep on my journey. Any guidance on how to work around? I have thought about purchasing the cheaper reservation and upgrading later, but I doubt that couchettes will be available day of. Any suggestions? My interrail pass expired and I bought a new one. Since I activated my new pass I haven't been able to make seat reservations. The interrail website says my pass isn't valid - but it is. 

We just purchased global Eurail first class passes and trying to understand how to reserve travel for rail/train and ferry from Rome, Italy to Mykonos, Greece. It’s my understanding the ferries are included and would appreciate insight and specific details. Thanks!

On the interrail site it says that for some reasons i cant book the reservation. Went to SJ and theres a lot of seats not taken for that train. But on SJ support it says you need a paper pass with a cover number to be able to book only the seats on SJ. I saw this generate pass cover number thing and i got a code, but im wondering if its legit and i can write it in and use it? Or if they will ask me about it on the train? I’m sorry if its a confusing question but i’ve had problems with interrail all day and is currently kind of stressed hahaha… thank you!

Hi Everyone, I am trying to book seat reservations for multiple trains with a eurail pass and was wonder what the best places to book would be?The trains are from:San Sebastian to Paris, Paris to Amsterdam Munich to Salzburg Salzburg to Venice  Thank you! all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  

Travelling from Paris to Rouen, Monday 22nd May. Have Eurail Pass.Specifically trying to book TER 3119 but I have also tried to book other trains earlier and later. Some of them seem to require reservations and some not. (According to Eurail)In each case, when I try to book a one way journey Paris to Rouen on their website via my home computer there is no option to add it to my shopping cart. On the phone app it lets me add the train service to “My Trip”.Question 1 - Does that mean I can board the train?Also, the Eurail website and the phone app both say a seat reservation is required for this particular train. I looked up the train service on SNCF and confirmed this. I also read elsewhere (Seat61 I think) that TER trains are included on the Eurail pass. So that means I can just board the train I presume and do not have to pay any extra (except of course for a seat reservation).  BUT - and here is my question #2: How do you buy the seat reservation? I purchased two 1st class, 6 day Poland only eurail Passes for my sister and I for travel in August.  I have the Rail Planner app loaded on my phone and both passes loaded but not activated.  My sister is technocologically challenged.  We live in different states and because of that it is easier for me to purchase the seat reservations so that we are traveling on the same trains.  Can she also load the app on her phone before we travel so that she can show her own phone with her daily pass? (she is going to visit me soon so I thought I could load it on her phone at that time)   I wasn’t sure if it was allowed because it is already loaded on my phone.A couple of other questions-When looking at the https://www.intercity.pl/en/ website to purchase seat reservations it is only allowing me to select one ticket at a time. I select two passengers but as soon as I select Eurail/Interail in the discount drop down it switches to one passenger.  Does this mean they need to be booked separately? o

Dear Interrail community, We would like to book train tickets to Edinburgh from Nice (France) on August 04th. The routes are as follows: Nice - Paris (SNCF)Paris - London (Interrail)London - EdinburgWe have already booked tickets for the Eurostar train (Paris-London)For the Nice-Paris route, Interrail has proposed several departure times. We are interested in the train that leaves Nice at 07:57 to arrive in Paris early enough before taking the Eurostar train.The problem is that this train is not proposed on the SNCF website. We read on your website that the timetables may not be up to date on the Interail website. Therefore, the train leaving Nice at 07:57 would not exist. However, how to know if a train will be proposed by Interrail to arrive in Paris with enough time to take the next train to London? Thank you in advance.  

Hello, I am having a problem with a reservation. To go from Malmö to Karlsruhe, I have to take the Copenhagen-Hamburg train at 7:11. Reservations are marked as "non-compulsory", and there are no more seats available. However, I see on the forum that summer reservations are mandatory for this trip. My trip will be on saturday april 1st. What about this date ? THANKS ! :)

I have seat reservations a train from London to Paris and Paris to Barcelona tomorrow. Due to strike action in France the train from Paris to Barcelona has been cancelled.As this is the start of my trip, I am going to have to fly from London to Barcelona and then continue my Interrail journey from there.I have filled in the Interail delay compensation request form online in the hope that they will refund me for the seat reservations and the lost travel day.Would it be possible to get a refund from SNCF for the last minute flight from London to Barcelona? If so, how would I contact them?Not a good start to my trip (especially as I wanted to avoid flying!)Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello and good day to you.  I am looking to see the cost of reserving a Train originating in Paris, going to Garmisch/Partenkirchen. on the Eurail seat reservation it states from $104.5.  Is that the price per passenger or is it for all 5 of us traveling.  Please let me know, thank you.

Hi there, I am travelling for 3 months (unlimited travel days) with The Netherlands as starting point, and wanted to go to the balkans/eastern Europe.However, when looking up trains in this area I can barely find any unfortunately. Ive seen some other topics from a while ago about this too, but I find it hard to figure out what I need to do/conclude from it. Is it better to just not go there at all as you need to take busses a lot (and those are not covered by interrail)? I’ve also read some things about there being trains in serbia and North-macedonia but just not internationally registred so it’s hard to know what the schedules are. Are there alternatives that are worth it? F.e. I saw that Romania is accessible still by a night train from budapest, and that it is possible to go from there to Sofia and then a train to halkali (Istanbul-west). Is this doable? Sorry if this is a bit vague but im new to this and really struggling with planning my trip.Thank you in advance for any help!

Hi all,Recently purchased the Eurail Pass and can’t wait to visit Europe at the end of this month. I have added the mobile pass to m phone and got the trip set up, the QR codes even shows up already and all the travel day has been used. However, I have few confusions:There are few trips that requires seat reservation, one of them is for the trip from Switzerland to Milan using EuroCity train. Went through the OBB ticket site, the trip seems to exist but it said that the ticket is unavailable, what does this mean exactly? No more seat left? Or it’s just that it’s not available online? Do I have to book directly at the station? What happens if till the end I didn’t manage to book a reservation? Will I still be able to hop on the train and just sit randomly or will I not be allowed to board at all.Thanks and hopefully this is not a duplicated question.

I booked reservations from Paris to Luzern.  It's three legs - Paris to Mulhouse, Mulhouse to Basel, then Basel to Luzern.  When I bought the ticket on Eurail, the reservation on the ticket only said it was to Mulhouse.  However, when I look at the ticket on my eurail account, it says "ready to board" for those last two legs.  Just concerned  my ticket does not reflect all of the way to Luzern.

Hi everybody, I plan to start my interrail from Lyon (France). I have a connection at Mulhouse (France) and then Basel (Switzerland), where I want to take the Euronight train to go to Praha (Czech Republic). The departure from Basel is at 9.15 pm. The thing is I don’t see where I can book a couchette (sleeper place) for this train online. And I do not want to arrive at Basel and to have to spend the whole night in a classic seat. Anyone had the same issue ? Many thanks in advance for your help ! 

Hi. We are newbie travellers at 63 & 64 yrs of age. We have purchased a Eurail pass- already regretting this. We wanted to travel direct from London to Amsterdam on the Eurostar. No seats were available so I booked the trip with a change of trains at Brussels to an Intercity train. Do we need to book this and is it included in the Eurail pass ? Can anyone give us advice please? 

If the statement ‘no seat reservation required’ comes up, but you would still like to reserve seats, how do you go about that? I have tried a number of options, but can’t seem to access the opportunity to reserve seats unless it is recommended. I have tried on both the mobile app and the website.  (We have mobile Eurail Passes.) Thanks in advance for your help.

I live in the UK. I have a global pass to start with Eurostar trip from London to Brussels in 2 weeks.  I booked seat reservations through Interrail app.  I want to change the date by two days.  Can I do that without charge still using my first free trip leaving the UK?  How do I do that?

Hi everyone, I have an interail global pass and am wanting to book a couple of seat reservations on longer journeys.  One journey is the 8.28am Wien HBF to Munich on 28 July and the other is Buchloe 9.36am to Zurich Hb on 1st August.It looks like it’s 9euros to use DB for reservations or 12euros to use OBB - am I doing it correct? (it’s for 2 adults and 2 kids) I’ve booked the DB one already (seat reservation only) from Buchloe to Zurich. I didn’t need to enter anywhere that I have an interrail pass - is this right? Juat thought I’d check before I make the reservation for the Wien to Munich train using DB. Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to figure out how the eurorail system works. We are getting a month unlimited pass and I'm seeing that some people are talking about making reservations. Does that still apply to me? Can l night travel with my first class without a reservation?  Thank you

We are two seniors from Canada who will arrive in Southampton on September 8 (after completing a cruise) and wish go from Southampton (presumably via London) to Paris on the same day.  We can depart Southampton by 9 AM.  After getting to Paris and spending a couple of days, we wish to train from Paris on September 11 and go to Luxemburg.  Then, after a river cruise, we wish to go from Basel to Lucerne on September 19 and then, the next day on September 20 from Lucerne to Zurich.  We do recognize that, after purchasing the pass, we need to separately purchase reservations.  Are there agents who can do all this for us?  Any assistance would be appreciated. Ross and Maureen

Als je een stoelreservering boekt via de interrail website, krijg je het ticket aangetekend opgestuurd naar je huisadres. Volgens mij is het niet mogelijk om een eticket te krijgen.Ik heb verschillende reserveringen geboekt en de tickets ontvangen.Echter hoe doe ik het als ik tijdens mijn reis een stoelreserveringwil boeken?Hartelijk dank, Dick
