Train connections & reservations

Hello,  I am travelling from Rome to Dublin in May/June and have my route mapped out and pass booked. I am curious about the supplements.  I know the routes I’ll take but the times I take them might vary. Can I pre-purchase supplements to save the extra fee of purchasing on board and extra time of waiting at the station, and have those supplements be used for any time, or is it route AND time specific?  thank you,KrisDean

Hiya,Sorry (1st time user) I have purchase my Eurail Global passes, I am logged in, I am looking at booking seat reservations (for July), the departure time options on the left side of screen are each titled ‘seat reservations required’ and there is a from price listed.Do I assume correctly this is the additional seat reservation fee and not the price of the train ticket? as I am already logged in (& I thus assume being logged in the system should recognise that I have a Eurail global pass paid for)….The first leg Milan to Sion - references needing to buy a seat reservation to board, but in red writing states “Prices unavailable, no prices found etc etc” Eurail says this leg should be bookable upto 180days in advance. I believe this is a trenitalia train (EC 50) Eurocity,When I goto the TrenItalia website, this train schedule for July is not yet available.Would peoples experience be that Prices unavailable popup is due to the train schedule being not yet released…., or sold out….?

I am trying to book a train from Venice - Munich on https://www.oebb.at/en/I can’t book a seat reservation on the train 13.35 - 20.26. I rather have one since I am going in the summer and traveling with a young child.The page is bit confusing, if I put in my interrail card and click on purchase a day ticket a price of 10 Euros comes up. What is this price for, if it is not for a seat? If you click seat option only, it says, not available?I then went through the process of purchasing a ticket without a interrailcard, it doesn’t seem to be an option for a seat reservation here either?Does anyone know which one to purchase? Many ThanksAnna   

My family and I needed to leave Sicily tomorrow and we saw that there was only Excelsior class tickets left. Inter City Notte tickets are known to be difficult to reserve online, we couldn't find any method to do so, and I was advised to go to a ticket office. Did so in Taormina and was informed that the cabin was first class and couldn't be booked with a 2nd class Interrail card. Is this correct? On ÖBB trains for example, all classes are available for passholders. We needed to travel on that date so ended up buying a full price ticket at 362 euros.

Hi everyone, I want to reserve seats for Barcelona - Freiburg for the 12, 13 or 14 of August.I am new to Interrail. In the past I’ve done the route Barcelona - Freiburg, but SCNF keeps making things complicated.I used to do Barcelona - Paris and then Paris - Freiburg but, the TGV Paris - Freiburg doesn’t show up anymore.Also, I don’t understand how should I reserve a seat with SCNF? I have bought the Interrail Global pass. I read on this forum I have to call them? Is there an online way to book this?The Interrail website gives me reservation prices but when I click on each option the price disappears and there’s no booking option. Also the price is quite high, like 48€. Is that usual?Also RENFE says they will have AVEs Barcelona - Lyon before summer, but they are still not rolling. Any help on how to do Barcelona - Freiburg by train and on how to get SNCF seat reservations will be welcomed😊

Hi I recently just booked a 4 bed couchette for the Berlin > Zurich night train. I booked for 3 people, which include myself (male) and my two friends (females). I just have a couple questions:  Will we be sharing the same couchette? It says we are in the same coach but have different accommodation numbers (please see attached photo for screenshot of ticket)   If ÖBB tries to segregate males and females, will we be separated? If not, what will happen with 4th spot in the couchette if there are both a male and females already in the couchette? Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)

Using the rail planner app, I can load up all my choices of train times, But there is a message that says “No Seat Reservations Required”.  Since there is no button on the page for purchasing seats (1st class) it only lets me save it in “My Trips”.    I’m confused about how I make reservations, even when not required, and how do I get whatever tickets I need to board (besides my Eurail pass)?   I am very confused.  And old.   And maybe not bright.  

Hi there, I’ve tried navigating other peoples Q & A’s, but not sure about getting all the right answers, here goes”I have purchased 5 x Eurail global passes for my family members, who are travelling together initially, but later splitting up and travelling our own ways.Can i prebook trips and reserve seats collectively for all passes, before allocating passes to each persons device……   & can i do this on my computer, or does this process only work through the app….Or do I need to allocate passes to each device first & then do we all have to book trips & seat reservations seperately - hoping that we can still book at the same time & ensure we have seats together??I assume this process of booking trips and seat reservations, does not mean we have to ‘activate our passes yet?’ Assuming we only have to activate our pass on the day we actually travel (have booked to travel)cheers

Just started my trip and have been stuck in Nimes for 3 days as French trains seriously on strike and continuing. Any one got any idea how I can get to Port Bou and into Spain - every route I try is cancelled as they don't seem to be letting anyone across border.nightmare,

Hi!We are hoping to travel from Strasbourg to Florence in early July.We have seen the train from Strasbourg to Basel exists and doesn’t need booking. However, when looking on the Eurail app, the train from Basel to Milan was ~12 hours, whereas on Trainline, it was ~4. We are worried that the faster train doesn’t come under the interrail pass, please help if you know. From Milan to Florence, we could find a train with Trenitalia however, once again, there was nothing on the app. For Trenitalia, we can’t add our interrail pass, so we don’t know if we need to book or not. We would super grateful for any help!

I can’y make a seat reservation for a specific train destination via the interrail apprication. It’s impossible ro book a trip on Frech SNCF because you can not fill in tjay you have an interrail pass (only specific SNCP cards and passes are accepted). I asked SNCF and they answered go to the train station and book it there.This means that Interrail sells passes but you can’t book tickets on their application for some trains/destinations. It means also that SNCF is in the interrail program but you can not book online on their application. It means also that I will have to travel 80 km back and forth to order our tickets. Is there another possibility to book online tickets in France with interrail pass without having to travelby bus to the nearest (small) station only to be told, perhaps, that it is not possible in that station and that I must go to another (larger) station.Nice service that Interrail prigram! 

Hello everybody!Just joined the community and have a question about making reservations on the Caledonian Sleeper with the Global Eurail Pass. Went through the community posts on the topic and was able to select the “Room Supplement” option as advised by the community.However, the booking amount does not change much… The Club option amount comes down to GBP420 from 425 while the Classic option amount in fact goes up from GBP 290 to 300. What is even more strange is that the Seat option is “Sold Out” after selecting Room Supplement option. I have a Global Eurail Pass (2-month/First Class) for a family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 & 8 years. Before selecting Room Supplement option: After selecting Room Supplement option: 

How to travel CDG to Strasbourg by train. Do we catch train in CDG or do we take a RER to Paris center? What is the name of our departure train station? Should we buy tickets in advance?

Buenas noches, Me ha surgido un problema a la hora de la reserva de mis trenes. Hay algunos trayectos de trenes en los que hay que hacer trasbordo que me aparece como no disponible para poder comprarlo, como que no necesitan reservas. ¿Cuál es la posibilidad de que me quede sin asiento en ese tren? Lo digo porque somos cinco amigos y para que tengamos asientos asegurados todos.Gracias, un saludo

Once a trip is booked ( on the eurorail pass )what is the way you can adjust the booking if something changes our schedule like a plane time change or other possible delays that could keep us from making the time that the original booking was made. If we miss the booked time ( on our eurorail pass ) due to some unforeseen issue do we reschedule the trip without cost?Can we decide to get off the train before the destination chosen and then get back on another train later to complete the journey or do we need to book another trip for the second part of the trip?  

No matter what numbers I put in on this website (M.cd.cz) it keeps saying this error. Any ideas what I need to put to pay for a seat reservation? It is a direct train

 Two English retirees starting tomorrow on 2 month IST class interrail trip around EuropeAfter reading advice on here, I've used the oebb app to make 2 reservations for Italy1. Viareggio to Salerno on IC train.The app flagged up that mobile tickets were Not Available for this journey, which was contrary to our expectations. Tickets could only be via email and pdf to print out, or to collect in Austria.  Maybe this is because they are domestic Italian trains. Does anyone know? 2. Venice to Innsbruck on EC train. Booking and reservation went fine, but seat selection is bad. Diagonally opposite each other on different sides of central gangway. Ie 3 seats apart!!Can this be changed in anyway, online or in person when we get to Venice.Thanks for any advice    

Hi, I’ve heard that in Italy (and elsewhere) you must validate your ticket unless you risk a fine of €200. How do we go about doing this with a mobile ticket or is our ticket already validated?  Does anyone have any recommendations on where to travel to after visiting Florence? We plan on going to Salzburg or Vienna soon after but want to travel to one more place in Italy or even another country before we embark to Austria. Thank you in advance for your help!!

Hi, i would like to know if eurail is the only option to check and book seat reservation for the below route.  And which website should i use to look for train timings from Bruges (Belgium) to Luxembourg (Luxembourg). I had 3 different results from 3 different websites. 

I have purchased a ticket thru Trenitalia from Rome Termini to Innsbruck Main The journey has me changing from Trenitalia Frecciarossa 9584 to DB-Oebb EuroCity 80. I was able to print a PDF ticket from Rome to Bologna, however I have not found a way to print a PDF ticket on Oebb from Bologna to Innsbruck.  I do have a PNR Code for both legs of the travel.

Buenas noches, Tengo un problema con la reserva de uno de los trenes de mi viaje. Me aparecer disponible un tren con trasbordo desde bergen hasta oslo, pero al clicar la opción para reservarlo, me aparece como que la primera parte del trayecto no está disponible, mientras que la segunda parte si, por lo que los asientos de la primera parte del trasbordo no lo tendría.Es posible conseguir esos trenes que no están disponibles de alguna otra manera en la estación de allí, o no pasa nada porque hay asientos suficientes? Gracias, un saludo.

Had booked tickets from Oslo to Bergen and instructed to do a reservation. But Eurail Web and apps shown all trains on all days in March 2023 soldout??!! Tested other cities reservation and none are available except out of Noway.
