Train connections & reservations

I want to go from Paris to Stuttgart with TGV on the 9th of May and cannot make an obligatory seat reservation neither with the connection from interrail to SNCF North directly on the SNCF homepage .how to do it?

Heee I want to book a couple of trains, but for some it says there are no tickets available and some might already be sold out. I checked another website and they’re not sold out, so why isn’t this site showing? I don’t want to buy tickets on other sites if I’ve already bought this pass… 

Hi there, My family and I are due to travel on Easter Sunday into Milan. We have an Interrail PassThe seat reservation site has said that seat reservations are not required (open seating) on this journey. However, I assume this day will be a busy travel day. Is it best to trust that there will be pass seats available and just turn up in the day? Or is it best to try and book travel with the train operator directly to guarantee seats? Thanks for your advice!

Hi, me and my girlfriend would like to make the trip from Oslo to Bodo in July 2026.We were lookin at the option of getting the night train from Oslo to Trondheim and then the daily train from Trondheim to Bodo.Only problem is the connection is only 50 minutes and there is only one Trondheim-Bodo train per day.Would you reckon the connection is safe enough? Or do we have a serious risk of being stranded in Trondheim for 24 hours?On one hand these seem to be 2 trains kinda made for each other and I would therefore imagine they may wait one another. On the other hand the refund policy sets a 60 minutes timeframe for the delay, for these 2 lines only (all the rest is 30 minutes), which they say you have to consider when planning your trip.Thank you in advance for any help Have a good travelling year!

Some info for people traveling on Rhatische Bahn between Chur - St Moritz - Tirano.Hi, this is just to let you know that I observed new? restrictions on the rhatische bahn, which i haven’t experienced earlier.This morning I was planning to take the RE train from Tirano to Chur, which i’ve done many time. And i didn’t have a reservations, because it’s not compulsory and I relied on the 1st Class Pass.But this time, a queueing system was in operation where you first have to get boarding cards for the train. Waiting time: about 2 trains, (2 hours). (Actually I think the EU passenger rights would apply here)So, please note that you can’t rely on actually taking the train you had in mind, and making your connections, when traveling on RE 9 or R9 of ratische bahn from one of the terminus stations. The new queuing system could be in operation….In the end I walked to the next station, and took the next train from there… (Here I am talking about the regular trains, not the Bernina Express)  

Hi! i wanna go from Utrecht to Kopenhagen on the 4th of January. But im not sure what to do with my reservation on the ICE from hamburg to KPH, so any help would be nice:)) there are two options:Option 1 is at 14:47, interrail says a reservation is not needed, but DB says the train is fully booked (so i cant make a reservation anyway), can I still board the train? and just sit somewhere and hope for the best? Via the interrail site, i can however still make the reservation, so that would also be an option? (although it feels weird that I can make a seat reservation via interrail but not Db’s?) The second option is the ICE at 16:49. Interrail says I need a seat reservation for that one, and DB says that I can still book the seat via their website. My preference would be option 1 bc my partner is taking that train, but he already has a seat reserved. I guess I can always go for option 2 but was wondering what my prospects are at option1 . ANy help is appreciated, thanks:) also small side

I have an interrail pass and I'm travelling with a friend who has a Eurorail pass, how can we ensure we reserve train seats together on our journeys?

I have the Eurail pass for my family of 4 and I had uploaded all passes to the app with start date later this summer. Then I went to wesbite to book our seats for a train leaving on June 1st. However, all the times I selected won’t highlight “add to cart.’ Does that mean I’m trying to book too far in advance, but the schedule table is too far out? OR is it because there’s an asterisk saying there are limited seats? I have 1st class passes, is it not feasible to book for all four of us at once? TIA!

Hi,We are a family of 2adults & 2 kids traveling in Europe this coming January.  I booked a train on 6Jan to travel London to St Avre La Chambre for skiing.  Traveling Eurostar. I have had to book 2 tickets, London to Lille Europe, then Lille to St Avre La Chambre.  Can someone let me know do you need to pass through immigrations/customs in Lille or is this all done in London?  We have a very small connection window in Lille, like 28mins. ChatGPT told me you just walk off the train in Lille no immigration to go through.  Anyone know if this is correct?  I certainly hope so.  Thank you. 

I opened an account in my name. Then ordered two global plus passes for partner and I. we both downloaded the app and she loaded her pass using the code. We then planned a trip and made several reservations on trains while logged in as me on the website. These appeared on my app but not on hers. How do we get the reservation details to her phone? She does not have her own interrail account as yet. Should she just log in using my details? 

How do I know which end of a train is first- vs second class?

We organized our trip but when we started to book the seat reservations it was indicated fully booked. Pls find other way to book.What can we do. Is it only full for pass holders?

HiI’m trying to make a seat reservation from  Paris to Tours or St Pierre Des Corps in April 2026. When going through the Eurail seat reservation system, every train from April 5th to 11th says “No price results were found. Pass holder reservations may be sold out for this connection, but there are other ways to check for available seats—more info below our timetable.” Surely not every seat for the whole week is booked out already? Or do they release seats  not until 2026 for April?Or is the system not working?Any answers welcome. ThanksJon

Good evening,I am writing to you regarding ticket reservations via the Discover EU Pass.I am planning to travel to Barcelona in December (around the 19th) thanks to this opportunity.However, for several weeks now, the reservation dates have been stuck at 23 November, even though tickets on Renfe have been available for two weeks.This means that I cannot make any reservations (accommodation, activities, etc.) if I cannot book my train ticket (at least the outward journey) in advance.Thank you in advance,Thiméo M

We saw it was around 10 euros, but than immediately got hit with 34,- minimum

Hi Guys, I will be travelling tomorrow’s from Venice S Lucia Station to Zurich HB with one change at Milano P Garibaldi (10.47 AM)and next train is from Milano Centralle at 11.10 AM.  If any one have idea to reach Milano Centralle in less time from Milano P Garibaldi as we have only 20 mins to reach there. What mode will be best to reach there through walking or by metro??it will be very appreciable if any one suggest us the best way before our tomorrow train. thanksVineet 

Hello, I'm trying to plan my journey fromw Sweden to Amsterdam, but the ICE train from Frankfurt to Amsterdam doesn't show in the railplanner app. But it is planned to go according to the NS. Can I still take this train with my interrail ticket? 

Hello Everyone,  Currently planning a trip that’ll be taking place in 3 weeks. I’ll be traveling from the Lake District (UK) to Paris Nord in one day--yes, I know it will be long journey. Currently I’m running into the issue that the seat reservations will cost anything from $95 to $76 for either 1st or 2nd class (64 and 80 Euros for the respective classes); this is specific to my Eurostar transfer in London to then Paris. Not only does this not match the reservation table per Eurail page, it also shows that all reserve-able seats are sold out. So I am very worried that i’m running out of options.  I am also extremely confused and hope that someone has experienced something similar. If the reservations for the Eurostar truly cost $76 to $95, so be it. But will I not be able to travel on my London to Paris leg of the trip if I do not have a reservation? I’ve already tried contacting Eurostar but have not received any helpful response. If anyone has any helpful guidance, it’ll be greatly

There are still direct trains from Amsterdam to Frankfurt shown on the DB app, but on the Rail Planner app they only appear until December 13, and nothing shows up after that. The strange thing is that this route doesn’t even require reservations, yet on my travel date, February 14, not even the transfer options show up—only trains that require reservations.Because of this, I’m really unsure whether I should buy a Eurail Pass. I’m worried the trains might simply not appear later either. I don’t understand why this is happening. I was planning to get the pass for flexibility, but if the trains keep not showing up, it might be cheaper to just buy individual tickets instead.  

I am trying to book a ticket back to Barcelona from Dusseldorf on December 26th. However, there are no trains from Dusseldorf to Paris available. How can I find available seats or an alternate route?

Hi. Does anyone know if you can use the Interail pass (2 month) on the Madrid transit system and specifically the trains. Specifically I’m looking at the C2 and C7 services from Vicalvaro to Atacha.

Hi,I have seat reservations with DB from Köln Hbf, 23.12.2025 08:49 to Utrecht Centraal, 23.12.2025 10:59. The train is ICE 220.When I search in the Eurail app this train journey does not show up. It does not let me select Köln Hbf as an option for the outgoing train station.When I try to add the trip manually, the dates and times seem to be getting messed up and it shows the journey as 26+ hours. I do not want to add this trip as I am worried that it will use 2 days of the Eurail pass instead of the 1 day as the journey is around 2 hours.Can someone please advise what would be the best option to do here?

I have ordered a Eurail Global Pass for 2 months/15 days flexi use. I am getting a printed version of the pass (not mobile), because I often tend to lose or break my phone while on trips. I prefer to keep the physical passes with me, not use the app.  My main question is, do I have to wait until I receive the passes in the mail to book seat reservations on trains? Is it true that to book seats using a Eurail Pass, we must input the Eurail Pass number somewhere in the seat reservation? What is the best website to book seat reservations using an Eurail Pass?Your answers, much appreciated.

Hello everyone, I am actually traveling but my trip will soon end. I planned to come back from Berlin to Avignon with two different trains: One from Berlin to Strasbourg on the 18th of December. And the second is from Strasbourg to Avignon on the 19th of December. I went to a train station to book my seats because I saw somewhere you could include both trains in your pass. Even if one is from France to France. My problem is the train from Strasbourg to Avignon doesn't appeared on my pass. I kept a day free on my pass especially in case a controller says something. But what else can I do ? Thank you in advance for your precious advices !
