Train connections & reservations

I am getting mixed messages online as to if we can travel Gatwick to St. Pancras with our Eurail pass.  I am travelling with my wife and two kids and really don't want to have to go Gatwick to Victoria and then try to take the tube and walk to St. Pancras.  But i’m also very disappointed if I have to pay almost 39 pounds for the 4 of us to travel direct to St. Pancras. ON the Eurail site they say Thameslink trains are included but on the App planner i can’t get it to show anything for Gatwick to St. Pancras. Any help or recent experience would be great!! Thanks, Jason  

Hello! I'm interrailing with my wife in two weeks, we want to go from Paris to Barcelona - the connection requires a seat reservation. As I understand SNCF only offers paper reservations sent to a passenger via traditional mail. It is possible for us to be sent our reservations to an adress we're staying at in Paris. Unfortunately a booking system states that based on Interrail calculations the letter will be late for our arrival - we are staying in Paris for 3 days, 14-16 September - so two weeks from now. We don't know if we can rely on this information, since the letter should be sent within one country - from France to France. We suspect this could be some kind of a system error. Could anyone let us know if we can odrer our reservations in paper form safely? Thaks in advance!

I have made a number of reservations through the Interrail website. I have the email confirmations but I would like to see a summary of all the reservations I’ve made so far within the website and, ideally, in the app itself. Is that possible, or do I have print out every reservation? Seems very 20th century if that’s the case. 🙁 Thanks for your help. It’s great knowing the community is out there. 😀

What happens if my seat reservations have been returned to sender?  They were sent to my accomodation who weren’t available at the time of delivery (and didn’t go to collect as promised)  and subsequently have been returned to sender which is Eurail.  I’m really counting on these seat reservations.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi team, Soon I will be landing in London with Plans to go to Worcester, Birmingham, York, Edinburgh and Amsterdam. Wondering if the Eurorail pass is worth it? Advance tickets on British trains seem to be much cheaper, but I don't want to be locked into having to get specific trains. For this reason, the Eurorail seems more flexible . Thoughts? 

Hi,I try to book a seat reservation for Dimitrovgrad to Halkali, but on the Interrail website that is impossible. All trains look fully booked. On this forum I read that most trains are half empty. Is it recommended to take the change and try to reserve a seat in Dimitrovgrad? Thanks.Vincent

Cant book renfe reservations online, it says I need to do it at a train station in Europe=- does england count? Likke could I go to a big station in London and do it?

We are returning to Edinburgh from Cologne on 27 July a strike day. We can get to London as Eurostar say they are running but too late for our connection which is after LNER have ended their service for the day due to the strike. Can we use our pass the next day? 

Thalys has sent me an email this morning saying that my train from Bruxelles to Paris has been cancelled due to rolling stock problems. The company website says that all trains from Bruxelles to Paris are cancelled from 01/08 to 07/08, so I can’t rebook a train on the same day and I have to ask for a refund. Thalys says that I have to contact my initial point of sale, that is Eurail.com. How can I obtain a refund?

Hi!I will be traveling around Europe with a 15 day consecutive Eurail pass. My mum will be joining me for only 2 train rides, is there any way to book our reservations/seat together?Thanks :)

I am trying to book a reservation for the TGV from Paris to Barcelona on the 15th (September). Now I’ve read about the issues with Spanish rail companies and having to book tickets locally, at the train station and I’ve been trying to perhaps book via SNFC or RENFE online, but how do i make sure I don’t end up paying the full price? Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming these tickets are still covered by the Global Pass. Could anybody help me out with possibilities to still book my ticket in advance? I’ve seen several numbers I'm able to call but, again, I'm not sure how to get the ‘discount’ of the Global Pass. This is my first time traveling by train and I would appreciate the help tons, thanks!

I last used an Interrail 30 years ago as a young man, I’d love to go again with my son, but the awful ‘reservations’ problems that I’ve been learning about on almost all trains in France and Spain (also elsewhere) is making me think twice!!I really don’t mind paying E10 for a reservation on a high speed French train or E8 for a Spanish train, but the huge bureaucracy involved just to make a reservation seems ridiculous, in 2022! Phone calls, ticket offices, calling German railways, Belgian railway website, cover numbers, what the hell is going on! Without reservations you can’t easily plan - OK if you’re a student with 3 months to spare, not so good if you’ve only got 7-10 days.However, I do understand that Interrail Management can’t control the policies of national railways. So the main subject of this post is: are the Interrail Management aware that there are 2 simple things they could do to make their customers’ lives much, much easier? Hi travellers!As mentioned in the title yesterday I booked my seat reservations and received the email confirmation with all my tickets. But today these reservations still don’t appear here on my profile in the interail website. Is it everything ok or you think I might have some problems? Tickets seem fine to me and I received all of them without any problems. I want to go from Holyhead to London on 11.09. But how can I book something and I know I am very late are there any other options maybe without any reservation?

I missed my trip because of a track change 2 minutes before departure, which even wasn't announced in English. Now if I book a ticket for the next train it will cost 22 euros more. Can I get compensation for it? 

Hello!I need to buy a train ticket from Firenze to Basel. On the railplanner it says there is a trip from Firenze SMN to Milano Centrale, then Milano Centrale to Arth-Goldau, then Arth Goldau to Basel SBB. I can buy a train tickets for all these section except the Milano Centrale - Arth Goldau, for which the website says “Tickets unavailable”. It is an “EC” Eurocity train. Why can’t I buy it on this website? Can I only go through the rail planner app to buy the ticket for this section of the trip? Also, I’m not too familliar with the train system in Italy, are the trains usually on time? Are there often train problem?How much time do you think is needed to switch trains at Milano Centrale? Thanks so much!

Hey guys! I have literally spent hours trying to figure out my trains. Low and behold after all of my careful booking, I've gone and booked myself on the wrong date on the Eurostar. I need to travel the day before. is there ANYWAY I can change :(

Hey there,I am from Germany, have an Internal global pass and ran out of outbound journeys.Nevertheless, I want to go from Munich to Vienna by night train, but I can't buy a separate ticket from Munich to Salzburg from ÖBB - it says „Ticket nicht verfügbar“.Is there any way to use my Interrail pass on the Salzburg-Vienna portion? I’d prefer not to take another train to Salzburg and change there…Thanks,Felix

As requested by eurail.com, I supplied my accomodation address when buying seat reservations for 6 of us to ride from Paris to Barcelona on 1/10/22.   The accomodation office wasn’t open when they delivered the mail so now it’s sitting back at the post office (the accomodation told me they missed it)   I’m still in Australia so obviously can’t collect.  Will it sit there safely until I arrive in Paris on 29th September?  That will mean it’s there for over one month.   Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello, is it possible to use the first class seat reservations sold to me by SNCF over the phone but I have a 2nd class global pass? Their weren’t anymore seat reservations other than 1sr class and desperately needed this train for this day. We are using these seat reservations for the train from Paris to Barcelona and is a TGV train. Thank you. 

Ik reis op een zondag in november op mijn driemaands global van Amsterdam naar Parijs en moet dan de Thalys nemen. Ik heb de toeslag van € 30,- gekocht en ging er vanuit dat ik het Nederlandse deel van het traject zou kunnen dekken met mijn Weekend Vrij, maar ik begin nu te twijfelen. De inbegrepen outbound heb ik dan al gebruikt (wil ik morgen, 2-9, gaan gebruiken).Gaat dat goed?

Hi All!I'll be visiting the UK and would like to purchase tickets for a one day trip to Paris and back.  However, when looking up information,  I'm a bit confused as to what to pay?  Would like to do 1st class seats there, but I am reading that I also have to purchase a reservation.   Can someone please guide me to a good website on purchasing tickets and what excited is needed?  Also, do I need a global pass for this one day trip?

Il mese scorso ho acquistato le prenotazioni dei treni che necessitavano di un supplemento, sia quelli cartacei, che quelli digitali. I biglietti digitali mi sono giunti il giorno stesso per mail, mentre quelli cartacei sono stati spediti qualche giorno dopo, tuttavia non sono ancora arrivati, tracciando la spedizione sembra che il pacco sia in Italia, ma non si sa quando giungerà a destinazione. Dato che tra pochi giorni devo partire per l'interrail mi chiedevo se fosse possibile ricevere un documento digitale che certifichi i posti sui treni da me acquistati.
