Train connections & reservations

Dear fellow members,Due to a series of serious illnesses in our family we (3 adults: man, wife, son) are only now able to book our train journeys in Sweden, Norway and Denmark starting the 3rd week of August.Would it still be feasible to make reservations for a number of trips (Stockholm - Oslo, Oslo - Bergen, Bergen - Oslo, Oslo - Stockholm, Stockholm - Kopenhagen)  at such short notice? The purchase of our Interrail chard depends on the availability of these reservations and I don’t want to risk getting stranded with my Interrail Card. Where can one check whether reservations are still possible without already owning an Interrail Card? Who can give us an expert opinion on this matter?Thanks

My Ámsterdam London train just got cancelled. So I have several problems. For example, Eurail takes this first day trip as used. But that is another question I will try to solve later.  Now I booked a ticket for brussels a 6.28am without reservation required. Should I arrive at the station way earlier as to make sure I get in? Or just having the ticket in my app should be enough? Thanks for your help!!! 

I have been looking into reserving my seats for my Italy trip through the ÖBB website as many have recommended. However, it says that the ticket must be printed at ÖBB self service machines or at ÖBB ticket offices in Austria. Is this required, or could I also just show my ticket on my phone? I’m just not sure how I’m supposed to print these if I’m not actually in Austria. 

We are trying to book seat reservations to travel from Ljubljana to Split on 4th-5th August, but on all the routes there’s at least one leg of the trip that says it requires reservation and it’s not available to buy. We’ve also looked on other websites such as OBB but same issue. It says it’s a regional train, can we still get it without reserving? Not sure whether to just wing it when we get there.

Seat reservation with non-interrail passenger on Irish trains: how to do it so we sit together?

I have a global pass, 2nd class. Now trying to get from Copenhagen to Stockholm. However, trains are sold out. I can find 1st class seats. If I buy these seats how can I buy the firstclass ticket? Called to SJ (Sweden's railway) but there re 180 customers before me. Any tips? 

Dear sir/ms.  I hope you can help me. Yesterday we tried to make a reservation for a train in Spain, since this is needed. The lady at the desk refused however to make a reservation before we added the travel day in the app, even though the day we wanted to travel on was a few days ahead. Because of bad internet we could not turn on the travel day and she even refused to check if there would be trains available for this date. Is is necessary to turn on your travel day when making a reservation? I understand that is is obligatory when entering the train, but I believe it is not when making a reservation, or am I wrong?

Hi, So new to all this been reading things for weeks! Planning to buy the global 1st class Interail pass and travel from the UK to Europe within the next two weeks.  I have seen there are 2 websites to buy the reservations on? The interail website and B website. Does it matter which one you choose? Also Am I pushing fine by buying the pass this week for travel beginning of August. 

Hello. I have seen on the Interrail App that is it not compulsory to book a reservation for the train Hamburg-Copenhagen, but some people form the Community have said that it is. I have a 1st class pass and was wondering if maybe 1st class wagons are not as crowded as 2nd class wagons, and therefore and I would not need to book a reservation. Thank you!

Hi!! I need to travel on wednesday the 27th July from Paris to Berlin. I dont understand if the Eurail website is not working, but when i first search it says for ex the train that leaves at 9:06 from Paris Est to Frankfurt costs €15. And when i click on the option there’s a sign that says prices unavailable. And the same thing happens with every other option that i touch. Is it possible that all trains from that day are sold out? Where else can i search for reservations??Thanks in advance!!!

Hi!I’m in Rome at the moment and I want book the nightjet from Rome to Cefalu (Sicily) on the 23th-24th of July. When I try to do this on the ÖBB website, it says: ‘ticket unavailable’ even though I clicked on the ‘one-way ticket and day ticket’ button. Does this mean that the train is full? Are there any other websites I could check?Thanks!! 

I can’t book any seat reservations because it won’t let me add my mobile ticket. My last name includes an ä. On the ticket itself the ä is depicted as a question mark but when I copy that directly out of my email confirmation it tells me I can only use a-z. I also tried to do ae, an a or just leaving it out but then it just tells me that it can’t find my pass.Please help me! :(

There is no longer an overnight train from Milan to Paris. So I booked a high speed train during day but when I went to make reservations I could not as “it was not possible”. Likely sold out. So I used the suggested sites to book and ended up having to pay €90 for a ticket!!! Not only that I booked hotel in Paris for the night with hopes of travelling on to London the next day only to find out that there are then no Eurostar tickets at all for weeks. This global pass is bit of a farce to honest and it’s starting to add up to a pretty costly ticket. I also had to fly to Venice to start it as could not get overnight train from Prague (where I lived) back then 4 weeks ago either! After trying so many connections, FlixBus and ferry’s etc the really only option to get me to Dublin without it taking 3 days of non stop trains and boats is to fly. So I’ve dropped another €240 on flight from Paris. Basically I have used 4 days of my 10 day 2 month pass and couldn’t really use the rest! Bit of

Hello ! I can’t reserve a seat on the train from Geneva to Brig on the 2nd of August at 10:11 (I tried on OBB but it says that no ticket is required and I couldn’t find the seat reservation only on SBB). Do you think that I should buy a ticket (for 19,62 €) or is it not necessary ? Thank you in advance for your advices, Océane

Hi, I tried to book a reservation on interrail website but because of technical issues I didn't get any reservation (it doesn't appear on the website and I've got an email saying that they had a problem) even though the system took my money.Is it possible to have a refund? Thanks 

Hi! Yesterday I made 8 seat reservations, the money was taken from my account, but I can’t see or find the reservation anywhere… not on “my side” or in my email. When I made the reservation I got an confirmation on the site, but now it’s gone…? Anybody else who has the same problem? 

Hello everyone! A few days ago I booked this direct train from Basel to Italy, I paid 13 euros. The problem is that I never received an email with the seat reservation. In my account I can’t find it either.. there is 13 euro taken from my creditcard so I made the reservation but I have no information about it, not even a reservation number. What can I do? I already tried to contact interrail by   answering questions to this bot to find out how I receive my reservation but i haven’t heard anything back. I will need to use the trai in 2 days. On the 22th of July..what is best to do? But another reservation or go without reservation? Or is there another way to receive my seat reservation?Kind regards,Adina

Hey everyone, I am very new to this but I wanted to go travelling starting monday for 4 weeks. I havent bought my pass yet but I wanted to get the eurostar on monday, starting from liverpool to paris. I wanted to stay a few days before heading to spain and so on. However, I have realised I should have booked the eurostar sooner. Should I book my interrail ticket and then look to see if there are seat reservations I can make? I am very confused about how to make these reservations and to see if there is availabilty on the eurostar, please help! thanks in advance :)

How do we book the Zurich to Budapest sleeper stopping at Prague?

I am hoping someone has a way around all the interrail site seat reservation restrictions. I plan on going from Lyon to Madrid on August 1. The first train is not sold out, it cannot be booked on the website. Can I only book it in-person? Other routes are sold out, I think. Are there any other "magical routes" through some other city or route?  Thank you all in advance! 

Paris-Warsaw on August 5 is the last stop on my journey, but all of the routes have a problem within them. Most routes from Paris on the morning of August 5 have sold out, which is a problem, since I have a bus from Warsaw already booked. I would be most grateful for at least  a magical train suggestion from Paris to Berlin.  Thank you in advance! 

1. We have planned our route via interrail planner, how should we confirm and get tickets for the journey? 2. What is happening in the situation, when one train is late and we won't manage to change our train on time? Should we take another train withe the same ticket we have or should we book another train ticket?3. And how should we count the outbound journey day? We leave on 26th of August at 3 a.m from Poland and we change the trains in Germany and we arrive to our destination point in Slovenia the same day at about 8 pm. Should it be counted as the outbound journey or the change of trains starts the first day of the journey?4. And the final question, We want to book the Glacier express in Switzerland, we have to buy ticket via Glacier express website, and we will choose the reduction for interrail. So is it counted as the travel day and should we put this journey to the planner?

Hello. I am planning to travel from Budapest-Keleti to Wien Meidling with the regional train RJ 66. As far as I understood, regional trains do not need reservation; you simply have to hop on. However, the app says that reservation is compulsory. Has anyone used this conenction and could tell me if they required a seat reservation?Thanks a lot!

So I’m planning a trip through Eurail and have already found out that alot of the trains don’t match on the app vs online (I did as much research as possible and I know that the app isn’t always reliable since timetables aren’t always current). My question is how reliable is the Eurail website timetables? A few of the trains I need require seat reservations (despite conflicting with the app saying seat reservations are only recommended), but when I double check the trains with a specific country’s timetables there are vast discrepancies. I’m afraid to make a train reservation on Eurail if the train doesn’t end up existing. Any advice on this? Should I just trust the Eurail website and go ahead and get the reservations?
