Train connections & reservations

This is a nighttrain from Basel to Amsterdam, it says that a reservation is not required, but everywhere online I see that every night train needs a reservation including this route. I can't make a reservation for this train online, the interrail site just freezes and nowhere else can I make a reservation for this train specifically. Can I just appear there and walk in with just my interrail pass? I really don't want to figure this out on the night itself. Thank you!

J'ai une reservation effectuée directement sur le site de la Lituanie, mais comment avoir le billet de train correspondant à la reservation si railplanner ne le propose pas ? Je n'ai pas encore activé mon pass, mais j'avais ces itineraires dans mes voyages entrés avant le 9 mai. Hi everyone. This is my first time on using Eurail Pass for my next Europe Trip, then I have some questions regarding seat reservation. Hopefully all of you can help me to solve the issues regarding seat reservation.I have planned to user Eurostar for my trip from Paris to Amsterdam. My question is whether the seat reservation in Eurail will determine the seat number as well or we have to make another reservation to get the seat number?Secondly, if I travel together with my wife, is it possible to have seat together in Eurostar? Thank you.

Hello! Has anyone tried changing seat reservations from Business Area Silenzio to regular non-silent coach after booking confirmation? My fault for not knowing there was a different in type here and was thinking if it is still possible to change.

Hi i have a question, I'm new here. I want to book a seat reservation a night train. In the app it says that different types of seat reservations are available, for example bed in shared compartment is available for 37 euro. However when I  go to the booking site to book it, I only see normal 2 cl seats as an option, but I want to book a bed. Where do I see all options, and how do I book the bed options? Thank you..(I'm stressed)

HiI've been looking into the possibility of interrailing around Germany with my 8 y o daughter this summer. I would like to plan a bit before I buy the Pass and see whether it's a good idea but I am experiencing difficulties figuring out prices and booking etc.I think I would need a one country pass for Germany. I've understood I could also travel on a night train from Italy, but the app planner does not offer the option of the Nightjet and if I try on OBB I get a price which seems close to a full price for a couchette. Is it all this complicated, having to counter check on three apps to figure out which train, how much and do on? It feels s bit daunting... please provide any advice for first time planner with kid, that would be very appreciated. Many thanks!Cristina     

I booked a trip from Paris to Geneva via the Eurail platform and then reserved the seats on the website. The return train ticket worked but I got an error on the train to Geneva saying that the reservation and payment went through but the tickets couldn’t be retrieved because of a system error. Does anyone know what to do?

How does one make reservations to travel from CDG to Lyon, stay 8 days in Lyon, then travel to Lucerne and stay a day or more, then travel to Salsburg and stay a day or so, and then travel to CDG again? 

Hello! Can anyone help me recommend a route for July?I would like to leave Arad at night, arriving in Budapest at 8:50, where I will probably stay 2 nights. Can someone help me with recommendations for a route that leaves Budapest and ends up here. I would like the route to last somewhere at most 7 days, and not be necessarily long or expensive (I prefer it to be cheaper :) )I mention the fact that I have a 7-day travel pass

Hi all,I am trying to book seat reservation for TGV 6964 from Annecy to Paris on July 17th. It seems like it is not running on that date or the day before. Does anyone know of any planned interruption or any other reason why it it would not run on those dates?Thanks in advance,Kasper

This my family’s first time using Eurail in Italy and I have just a couple questions. After getting the passes for my family a couple months back I first used the website to route our travel and made all of the necessary reservations. Then, just a couple weeks back we activated our passes in the app, looked up those same routes and added those journeys to our passes. I’m still getting emails from Eurail however reminding me to make my reservations, which I have already made. Was the order in which I first made reservations and then created the journeys and add them to our passes in the app wrong? Related to this, for those trains in which we have reservations, do we need to only show the train attendants that PDF ticket, or do we also show them the QR code for the same journey in the app? Finally, those Trenitalia reservations ticket don’t indicate whether they need to be printed or can just be shown on our phones. Are printed tickets necessary? Thanks very much.

Trying to do my reservations needed and app doesn’t work/ load the page for the reservation. Then it clicks to an error message. Try on the desktop rather than app and even though I sign in my trip and pass aren’t there. Can anyone explain why I am doing wrong lol 

Hello, we are traveling to Germany, Austria and Switzerland in June/Julyi have one leg left to book and can’t get anything to work. Need to book seat reservations from Rothenburg de o Tauber to Grindelwald. We have the Global Eurail 1st Class Pass. Have tried Eurail site, DB, SBB, and can’t get it to secure. On Eurail, it never prompts me to enter credit card number, it just processes and then errors out. I’ve cleared cache, changed computers, gone incognito. any help would be appreciated!!!

Does anyone know if you need to reserve a seat on this train? I've just looked the timetables up and says the train we need to take (08.55) is fully booked?  EDIT: to change the train time

Hi, First time Interailer looking to book onto the OBB Nightjet from Brussels Midi to Wien Salzburg. I clicked on the booking option on the Interail site but just get this message.No price results were found. Pass holder reservations may be sold out for this connection, but there are other ways to check for available seats—more info below our timetable.I there another way to book a reservation on this night train as our current trip is sort of built around it? Maybe naive to think I could just book after buying my pass but any advice would be really appreciated. Travel date for night train would be departing Monday 7th July.Thanks,Andy

hello, i was wondering how late i can wait to decide which train and on which day i want to take the train? Is it possible to change your mind on the travel day if already booked? 

I am planning to travel to France with the Single Country-France Pass. I am traveling from Cologne, Germany to Brittany. The first part of the trip would be a Eurostar train from Cologne Hbf - Paris Nord (e.g.: EST 9426). As I understood, the single country pass does not allow for an included trip to the border within the home country, as the Global Pass does. The Eurostar goes from Cologne to Paris, via Belgium. The question is now, which ticket option I would need to cover the leg from Cologne to the part where the train enters France and technically becomes valid?Do I need to buy an additional ticket for this part or what are my options?Any help or tips & tricks are much appreciated :)

Trip from Ghent St Pieters, Belgium to Paris du Nord. Train itinerary in eurail  has me just making a 15 min transfer to take train from Brussels Midi to Paris Nord but also states that I should allow extra time for boarding. Does this mean I should not book this in one go, and consider making this two separate train routes in the itinerary. One from Ghent to Brussels Midi and a separate one from Midi to Paris to allow more transfer time? How early I should be there before train departs?  

j, ai réservé un train pour Budapest-Nyuagati Prague hlavni nadrazi pour le mardi 8 juillet (11:30 arrivée 18:15) et j’ai le QRC code sur l’appli EUdiscover (il y a marqué que c’est le billet à présenter pour l’inspection). J’ai voulu réserver des places assises ( non obligatoires) mais à l’heure tout pile il y a marqué qu’il y avait déjà plus de places… Comment je fais? Est-ce que je peux tout de même aller dans le train avec mon QRcode ? ou Est-ce que le billet ne fonctionne pas pour le train ? Autre question, pour les prochains trains où les places assises sont obligatoires, comment cela se passse si je n’arrive pas à avoir de places assises mais que j’ai tout de même le billet QRcode sur l’appli?Merci d’avance

I’m using a Eurail Global Pass (15 days) and wanted to confirm: Does my Eurail Global Pass cover this route? If yes, is a seat reservation mandatory, or can I just board the train using my pass? Any tips on which train service (LNER, Avanti, etc.) is best for scenery or ease of reservation? Appreciate any guidance or experience you can share — thank you!

Hello, i was going to reserve seats for my friend and I for 3rd august, from barcelona to lyon but it says sold out. However, i find it odd that it is sold out so quickly. Is it possible to head down the train station in Spain and reserve the seats etc still? I can head down to a train station in Bilbao but not Barcelona though, and do i need my friend’s passport etc? Do advise thanks!!

Hi there, I am looking at a day trip from Würzburg to Rothenburg ob der Tauber on the 18/10/2025. From the DB website, I will need to take RE10, RB81, RB82 with a total journey time of 2h 10m. But yet if I go back to the 9/10/2025 and earlier, there is the RE80 available which will shorten the trip by an hour. Is the RE80 on some sort of seasonal schedule?ThanksJackson
