Train connections & reservations

A family of 3 traveling during the holidays in the month of December. Since we know this far in advance where we want to go, can we start making reservations? We don’t want to run on the trouble of loosing traveling days, we have limited time and big plans. We will star in madrid Spain, go to France (Normandy) Germany, Austria, Italy and head back to Madrid. Any suggestions? How is traveling during Christmas? Please help us make our trip easy. We are debating if we should rent a car, rather than buy the global rail pass. If you can assure us, we will buy the tickets 

I’m leaving for my first Interrail trip next week and I’m having a bit of a confusion. Can I add trips to my pass for the on-going travel day? Like if I’ve already travelled today but want to go somewhere else, can I add a new trip for today?

I am unable to make a reservation using the reservation features on Eurail.  All trains are booked.  However, when I go to the SNCF site, there are available trains.  Can I book directly with SNCF using my Eurail pass?  If so, how?  Customer service is all in French and was not helpful.

Hi! I’ve been trying now for days to book seat reservations for a departure through the interrail.eu site but I am not succeeding. I’ve managed for most legs of our trip but there is one connection which I can’t book (see picture). As it’s a cross-border-train between Germany and France I’ve been in touch with both DB and SNCF. SNCF could see that there were interrail tickets still available but they could not make a booking over the telephone with my Swedish credit card. DB said that it should be possible to book through them via phone, but they did not succeed with that particular departure (however, it would work if we chose a later or earlier version). Do you have any advice on how I could proceed? When searching I see that there is something weird with the 1131-departure for many dates…. What we need is 4 seat reservation Karlsruhe to Paris  Est 1131-1405, Saturday June 18th. Does anyone have any advise?

I am trying to make a reservation for a travel from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly and can’t see how I do this without buying a ticket.  I cannot book it via Eurail site and if I go to National Rail or Trainline websites I can’t see how to just reserve a seat.Cana someone let me know how I do this.  Thank you.

Hi All, I have a quick question about the reservations: if I have a Eurail pass, can I purchase and use a seat reservation from the train company's website (ie Deutsche Bahn, Trenitalia, ÖBB, etc) and use that? Or do I have to purchase through Eurail/Interrail?Sorry if this was asked before and I missed it.  Thanks! -Best, MattPS. Hi!I would like to buy a global pass cause i will go to morrocco by france and spain.I have few questions:the pass cost 1594 for 5 people per 7 days, but the place reservations aren’t included right?How i can reserved the places? i see some people used global pass on official trains websites...is possibile? I see Balearia (ferry from spain to morocco)...is included in the global pass? how i can do the reservation? how i can see the exactly price for the place reservation? Thank you!  

To access a train which requires a reservation (and has gates to enter the platform), would you use your interrail pass with the journey loaded onto it to open the gates and then show the reservation on board, or would you use the printed out reservation that has a barcode on it? Thanks.

I want to put a reserved seat train on my trip's Save Journey, but I can't find it.  Can't I get on the reserved train?

I am looking to purchase train tickets for October 2022. I will be traveling from Malaga to Madrid. When I try to purchase tickets now, it doesn’t show me times available past august. When will I be able to purchase tickets for October? 

Hello! Does anyone have any experience booking night train travel in Sweden with a Eurail pass? My family and I are trying to get from Gothenburg to Kiruna and when we get to the night train portion of the trip we are coming up with major issues. We all have a 1st class Eurail pass. When we try to book on the Eurail website it is only giving the option for a second-class seat, even though on the SJ website is says there are sleeper carriages available. When we try and book directly on the SJ website and put the Eurail pass info in there it is quoting a price that is way above the ‘service fee’ charge and nearly the same price as booking without a Eurail pass at all. Any suggestions?

Hello,I have read through a few questions here and couldn’t find a clear answer.I came across this on the interrail.eu site:The Self-Service lets you book e-ticket reservations up to 3 hours before its departure. You'll receive an e-ticket which we recommend you print at home.They recommend to print the e-ticket reservations. Now I am wondering if its okay to not print it and if I can use the e-ticket? Has anyone ever struggled with an e-ticket?

Now I don’t know what is happening with the Interrail App, but for 18. April no trips can be added to my pass, although the trips can be planned without errors. Due to this lack I can’t make any pass for this day, what can be make troubles with the train-staff. Yesterday (7 April) it has almost leaded to a sent-off from the train because I couldn’t make the pass for that day (although later on the day it had been solved). The communication went hard, because not all of the conductors of the MÁV can’t speak any foreign-language. I don’t understand why the interrail-app give so much problems.

Hi,My wife and I are trying to use our global pass to book seat reservations between Nice and Cinque Terra in September with Trenitalia.  I see that seats only seem to be released 2 months ahead (June 10th at the moment) but is there any exact timelines on when Trenitalia release their seats for this route?  Is it possible to get notifications when seats reservations are released?

Hello! I have purchased the global pass with 15 travel days. I am confused as to which trains I will need to pay a fee. Some trains, like a train from Paris Gare De Lyon to Geneve require an additional supplement, which I assume is an extra fee. Others list "seat reservations" like a train from London St Pancras to Paris Nord. With the global pass do we need to pay extra for a train with seat reservations or just for trains that say "supplement required"?

Currently trying to book a ticket from Taormina-Giardini to Napoli Centrale. On the app, it says I need a reservation but I can purchase a second class ticket for 3 euros. When I tap on the button to buy those tickets, it redirects me to the eurail website within the app where I see the 3 euro ticket. However, it doesn’t give me the option to purchase the ticket anywhere. When I go to the eurail website in browser, both on phone and pc, I login in and put all the same info in. The same ticket only comes up for over 100 euro. Can’t purchase this rate 

hello I tried to organize a trip with the app and my pass but I hadn't added my boyfriend's pass and I couldn't add it after the trip was created! However, I have tried all possibilities.So I canceled this trip on the app and removed my pass to start all over again and add our two passes from the start. I managed to add both passes and connect our two trips on the app. on the other hand on the site to reserve the seats in the trains and to reserve the tickets there is still the date when I bought the pass and not the start date of our trip.we therefore cannot book tickets on the site because the dates of our trip in the application do not correspond to the start date which is indicated on the site.I do not understand the application and the site are not at all in agreementhow can I change the date of my trip on the site and above all is it possible thanksits super complicated to organize and book ! the website is not well done at all

I plan to make my reservations during my trip. How do I prove to the ticket inspectors that my reservation has been made, is the ticket available on the application or do I have to print it out?my trip will be to Romania Hungary Austria

Hi All!I bought a 1st class interrail ticket. I’m going to travel in Spain and Portugal. There seem to be several“classes” on Spanish trains: Billete  Basico (standard seat), Billete Elige (standard seat or Confort XL)or Billete Premium (Confort XL).Which class and seat am I entitled to with my 1st class interrail ticket? The seat reservation (only available at stations) seems to cost 23,50 euros on AVE and ALVIA trains.And the same question for Portugal with AP and IC trains.Looking forward to your replies.CheersKimmo from Finland

Hello, I'm on the train right now! Customer services closed, my global pass says I'm ready to travel, I keep on tapping frantically on the journeys on my trip, they're not uploading. What am I missing out??

Hello!I have a question: Yesterday we booked seat reservations for London-Berlin travelling tomorrow morning (april 19th) and I got the message that only Köln-Berlin was booked but London-Bruxelles and Bruxelles-Köln not and they charged my account for it. I could opt for either let interrail rebook for me or that I could rebook and that they would refund me the money. I chose that they should rebook and then got the message that they try to answer within 48 hours, which would be too late, as we want to travel tomorrow morning. If I had known it would take this long for customer service to respond, I would have booked it myself. I am afraid to rebook now as I don’t want double-charged. Do you have any advice what to do?Thanks! Nadine

 Me and my friend have the 2 month global flexi pass. We r trying to go from Malaga to barcelona. We had to book tickets in a station the lady at the station said we could book 1st class tickets despite us having 2nd class tickets as they were the only ones left. R we okay to reserve 1st class even though we have 2nd class passes? 

Hey it says for some trains that the seat is included. You can buy a reservation if you like but it’s not required. Plus this is a popular train.The train here is the ICE 121 Amsterdam to Duisburg HBF then further to Berlin HBF, I wanted to know if I don’t buy a reservation and when I go to board the train if it’s full, what will I do and how will I know if it’s full or not and does it normally happen that there won’t even be a single seat available. Please let me knowThanks

Is Venice Mestre the main station? Would I be able to use the interrail pass from there to Rome Termini? 

Hi , I have a couple of questions about making seat reservations. We are travelling with four people and we all have a mobile pass. I bought the mobile passes for all four. Should one of us make a seat reservation for all four? Do we sit next to each other in this case? Can we make reservations via the interrail website with a mobile pass?
