Train connections & reservations

The error is that the e ticket switch to paper ticket and then it says that they won't come on time, even if they are 20 days left. I don't want the paper ticket, i can print the ones sent via email.Has anyone go through this? And what should i do?

Can I make seat reservations before activating my pass?

I’m trying to book seats but 2 of my kids are getting new passports. What’s the best way to work around that?

HiI am planning to travel with a friend from London to Naples over 2 days in mid May.Day 1 we will be able to get 1030 eurostar.We would like to stop over possibly in Geneva. We don't want to arrive too late as an early start will be needed on day 2 to Naples  On the return leg, we are planning an early start from Naples to Paris, as the on final day of the 4 day pass we will need to arrive in London sufficiently early to catch a train up to Newcastle. Please could anyone suggest a route that minimises reservation fees but not make thae arrivals too late. Thank you 

I am very new to interrail passes. I will be travelling from London to Cambridge one day, and then from Cambridge to Edinburgh another day. I am very confused, how do I reserve seats for these trains? And do I need to, really? How does one know if seat reservation is needed or not? If I don’t need to reserve, do I just show up on the train with my pass on the rail planner and show that one if they ask?

I am trying to book Strasbourg to Paris Est April 29 10:46 TGV INOUI - this train shows on the SNCG web site, but the only train showing on Eurail and Rail Europe is one at 4:00 am.Where/How can I reserve a seat for the 10:46 TGV?

Which connection would you recommend for the return trip—Montpellier or Lyon?2. I don’t have much time, so I’m only considering the fastest connections. I’ve read that reservation fees can be quite expensive for these types of trips. Can anyone tell me approximately how much these fees might be?3. Are there any other fees I should be aware of besides the reservation fees? I noticed some connections on eurail.com were grayed out and couldn’t be booked—does anyone know why? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

Very frustrated with the tools to schedule and book trips. Am I looking to far in advance of the dates i will travel? Looking to go from Bayeux to Paris Gare Saint-Lazare on 1-Sept-25 it says no trains match my criteria.  Calendar doesn't even allow me to select 31-Aug-25, yet I get results for 30-Aug-25.

I’m booking trains for a summer interrail trip for our family of five. We had no issues getting reservations on the Eurostar, but it looks like we wont be able to book on the TGV INOUI Brussels between Marseille and Brussels. The seat reservations for july havent been made available yet, but I have checked about fifity different dates from jan and all the way to 150 days from now (which should be just released) and not a single date has any availability in either travel class on any if the four daily services. So I am not holding on to any hope. Even if I try updating the search the very second the tickets are supposedly released, it still says they are sold out.Does anyone know if TGV or Eurail/Interrail have just discontinued offering tickets on this route, and is just pretending that its still bookable? Id wish they just said so, because then we would probably have planned our trip differently. Now it looks like we have to transfer to a eurostar in Paris and end up paying over 200€

Hi there,I’ve Eurail Global Pass and trying to figure out my train from Amsterdam Centraal to Brussels Midi.  I’m getting so many conflicting answers including from Eurail chat who said I’ll have to pay small supplement.The answers I’ve read: (1) if u’ve “international” travel, then u don’t need to pay Supplement when using IC/ICD/EuroStar, (2) u pay Supplement if you go through Schiphol Airport/Rotterdam route, (3) travel from Amsterdam Zuid instead of Centraal and u  can get on EC/EC Direct and don’t have to pay.My travel date is April 12, leave Amsterdam in the afternoon around 5pm or so.  I’ll be at Centraal but can travel to Amsterdam Zuid, if needed to start the journey.  These are some routes I’m able to find but not clear on if it requires Supplement.** Amsterdam Centraal > Schiphol Airport > Brussels MIDI (I believe this one requires Supplement)** Amsterdam Centraal > Rotterdam > Brussels Midi (will this still require Supplement?  I didn’t think so but Eurail chat

I’m looking to book tickets to travel from Paris to Amsterdam on April 12 next year but nothing is coming up when I search. I guessing it is unlikely are booked out but perhaps they are to confirm their timetable.I noticed a few other weekends in march also greyed out on Eurostar website.

Hey all, I’m trying to make reservations from Krakow to Prague for the 12th of March on the 11:11 train (IC114) I believe you can’t make reservations further than 60 days out but I should be within that 60 days now and even when I try the same train on the 9th it comes up with the same red banner that says no train can be reserved for the specified date/route. Any info on why this would be happening would be great.  Cheers!   

I am trying to book reservations for a journey from Haparanda towards Malmö at sj.se.   I can keep it short, according to https://www.sj.se/en/customer-service/frequently-asked-questions/158/eurail , sj.se does no longer sell reservations for paper passes, which seems to become a huge problem for me.Questions:Why is such a change introduced clandestinely?  I have three outstanding paper passes, which I want to use to travel throughout all Sweden (Finland → Germany and vice versa). What options do I have for booking SJ trains now?  vy.se doesn't sell SJ trains either, and interrail.eu, according to https://www.interrail.eu/en/book-reservations/how-do-i-make-seat-reservations would send paper reservations for Swedish trains; which is quite useless given the huge postal transfer times towards Finland, beside the fact that in case of travel disturbances, I need to be able to rebook.I must say, I am pretty angry regarding the way this change has been introduced, why didn't they enter a red

I bought this as a promotion on 17 December 2024.  Our plan is to use it within 11 months.  But the pass states valid from 1.2.25 to 28.2.25.  I don’t know where those dates came from.  But it’s presumably why the eurail site said not valid for a reservation is March.   Was I wrong in thinking it would be valid for 11 months?

Hello. Back ion 4th March I bought 4 passes for my husband and myself; we live in the UK. We used two recently (although technically this is still valid until 10th August although it says ‘expired’ and we have used the two outward/inward home journeys so can’t re-use) and so for us, that trip is completed but want to use the next two in September. I am trying to book seat reservations via Eurorail page and it says ‘Some of your passes are not valid on this date’. I have activated the second passes to start on 22 September and I am trying to book for 23rd September. Is the system still seeing the old pass and I will have to wait until it disappears from the system after the 10th August,to book reservations? The two trips have two different names on ‘My trip’ on the App but on the reservations page it is simply shown as a generic ‘My Interrail trip’ and realtes to those bought on 4th March. Hello! I am planning my Eurotrip for February/March. I think i need becuase i do not understand how to buy the tickets or book them with anticipation. Hi,I am travelling from Nice Ville To Zürich Main Station via Paris Gare de Lyon and have two options for the transfer time, one is 29 Minutes and the other is 2 Hrs and 29 Minutes. The question I haveis 29 Minutes enough if you have the arrival TGV from Nice is in a different hall as the the departing oneto Zürich?Thanks and Regards,Horst

I am hoping to travel in the opposite direction - Bordeaux-Bilbao-San Sebastian, but all routes take me a very long way via Barcelona. The Eurail website advises this is being updated, but wondering if anyone has travel this route successfully? Did you have to book this part of the journey via SNCF website instead?Any help appreciated. Thank you.   

I am traveling 2 days and selected the trains I want to take. They nicely show up in My trip. I did the seat booking through https://www.raileurope.com 1) because the yellow wheel in the interrail app kept spinning and ii) its is cheaper and you have control of the seat. Handy, because I am traveling with a bike.Now I am curious/uncertain whether my trains are actually booked. On certain trains where the booking of seats is mandatory I used the above website. How can I test the generation of a QR code for a travel day. The pass is active from 17 April 2025 and the trains in My trip are for 17 and 18 April. I had a look at the tutorial on YouTube but that is not so useful.

Hi,I’m trying to figure out an itinerary to travel from UK through France & Spain to Morocco on the Tarifa-Tangier ferry in January - I read that Man in Seat 61 highly recommends this route. However having got as far as finding trains as far as Antequera-Santa Ana (using seat61’s suggested itineraries) I’ve now got rather stuck. I’ve not found any departures at suitable times from Antequera to Algeciras, looking on the interrail planner, renfe.com and raileurope.com so I’ve no idea whether the itinerary is feasible, so daren’t book anything yet. I’ve a few questions…Is it too soon to expect train times on this route to be published? There seems to be one train time published on the route but at a totally unsuitable time - the one mentioned by seat61 doesn’t appear, although if I look at dates in December there are far more trains.According to seat61, the Antequera to Algeciras trains are Media Distancia. Do these require seat reservations?And finally, I read that interrail passhold

Hello,I would like to make a reservation for a sleeping compartment for a couple (male and female) in the SJ night train from Hamburg to Stockholm.Following instructions from a previous topic discussion, I manage to add my Interrail number pass through SJ company booking website, but I can either : Book “bed in sleeping compartment” and have to choose between Men or Women compartment for 1,660 SEK (Interrail fare) Book “private sleeping compartment” for 3,710 SEK (it looks that the Interrail fare doesn’t apply)By selecting OPTION 1, can my partner and I be in the same compartment or does it mean I have to book a private compartment (without Interrail fare) for my partner and I to be in a gender-mixed cabin ? Thank you for your help !
