I am travelling for the next week around Hungary with a 1st class Eurail pass and will use a number of domestic IC trains (such as Budapest to Pecs and to Debrecen).Am I right that I must have a paid reservation to board these trains? What is the best / cheapest way to book these?I see I can book for close to $6 each through Eurail, likely less through Czech railways. Is it possible to book at ticket desks in Hungary, or even on the train? Many of these trains run frequently and I would like to leave it to the last minute to decide what trains to take (which is part of the point of Eurail….)
Good day everyone,I checked my seat reservation from Munich to Berlin on the 31st of October and saw that there has been a timetable change. Upon clicking on the alternative options, the fastest direct route is now 6 hours. Did I miss something?A couple of questions…Is there a shorter way? Do I just look at the alternatives and accept?Thank you!
Timetable on the rail planner shows ‘not available to passholders’ (doesn't even show the train unless prompted) but train cancelled because booked with a rail pass on Eurail. What does this mean? Many thanks.
Hi my i am asiantrip starting from Dubendorf-zurich-chur-tirano-apls grum-lake como-milano-venice-triste-lubjanaPlan to take regional train short route and stop at certain places to stay.Zero knowledge about the station to stop and what next station to take , overall cost and looking for budget one on day trip. Thanks
I’ve bought seat reservations from OBB for travel within Italy (Verona to Milan and Milan to Turin). Is it necessary to print the PDF tickets? Or can I just show them on my phone? If anyone has recent experience of this, I’d be grateful for your advice. It would be much easier if I don’t have to print them, but the instructions from OBB clearly say they have to be printed! Thanks.
Hello,We will be travelling on a 8.48 am TGV from Valence to Antibes on Oct 2nd. We were hoping to arrive at Valence at 8.33am on a TER from Grenoble, but are now unsure if that leaves us with a too tight margin. What do you think, is 15 mins going to be enough or should we take an earlier TER instead?
I would like to travel from Rotterdam to Pairs on 26 Dec 2024 and I have bought 10 days EU Rail Flexi global pass. What is the earliest date I can book a seat on EUR 9322? Do I have to book it through EU Rail website please? How much time do I need to allow for checking before boarding please? Many thank
Currently in Sofia and intending to travel to Bucharest on Thursday 19th September 2024. At the international ticket office in Sofia railway station we reserved seats on the service as far as Ruse on the border. When we enquired with them about seat reservations for the leg from Ruse to Bucharest they said they didn’t know anything about it.The Romanian railways website is difficult to work with and appears to indicate there are no places on the train at all that day which seems strange.Does anybody know how I can book seat reservations on this Ruse to Bucharest train 460 in advance and from Sofia?
I am flying into Paris CDG in on oct 17 2024. I have purchased a first class one month country pass for France. I arrive at Paris CDG at around 12:30 pm and would like to take the train from Paris Gare Montparnasse. It takes about 1:05 min to get from Paris CDG to Gare Paris Montparnasse. The eurail website says I need a reservation to board the train to Bordeaux at Gare Paris Montparnasse. I am uncertain if my flight will arrive on time so am unsure what train to book my reservation on. Is there usually enough room on the train so that I could make a reservation at Paris CDG when I arrive and know when I will get to Gare Paris Montparnass?
I'm deciding whether to use an interrail pass or buy regular tickets for next summer. Using existing timetables as a general guide. I know these will be updated but I just want to get an idea of costs etc. If I use the interrail pass it says there are two supplements to pay on the return journey (part of our return leg is Amsterdam to London). It requires a supplement for Amsterdam to Brussels and then again for Brussels to London. Can the Amsterdam to Brussels supplement be avoided? (Travelling on a Thursday in August 2025) On the outward leg of the journey (July) there is just one supplement (Eurostar) and one train covering the same distance - ie London to Amsterdam (direct, no change in Brussels). (We're then going further north and traveling around the netherlands.) Thank you!
In under a week I will be travelling to Venice from the UK via Switzerland. It would seem that the weakest link in my journey is a train from Tirano to Milan. The line has only recently reopened following a month of engineering work, but many trains are currently arriving more than 45 minutes late. I’ve now selected an earlier train from Tirano which should leave me ample time to catch my connection to Venice even with a 45 minute delay. I haven’t, however, allowed for 2 hour delays which have occcasionally been occuring! My question is - what do I do if I miss my connection - as trains from MIlan to Venice have compulsory reservations? Can I use the interrail app to purchase last minute seat reservations for a later train? (I read somewhere that seat reservations on the day can only be purchased from ticket offices. Hopefully this was just wrong.)If I do miss my train is there anything I can do to get a refund for my original seat reservation, given that the fault would lie
Hi! I plan to take the ferry from Bergen to Stavanger but I can't understand how to book it with the interrail discount.I have a 1 country pass for Norway, and from the web site they explain as follows:But then when I use any of the codes the result is always this:Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better way to do so?
We will be taking the train from Tirano to Milan on Wednesday 18th September and plan to catch the 10:08. I have put my ticket onto my pass. However when I try to do this with my wife’s pass it only shows the 9:08 or 11:08 trains. I think the 10:08 is a newly installed train following the engineering works on the line throughout August. As I recall the 10:08 wasn’t visible on my phone either until September.Suggestions, please about what I should do to enter the correct train on my wife’s app. Thanks,Peter
Hello! If travelling next summer (end of July, family of 4), what day of the week is best to travel on from the UK to Amsterdam (then into northern Netherlands)? Eg Best for availability of tickets, prices (if not using interrail pass, though I think it will work out cheaper to use one), and how busy the trains are etc?many thanks.
Hi all,This isn’t actually a journey I will actually be using my pass for (it’s too cheap!), but it does form part of a larger Interrail trip so I hope I’m not abusing the forum too much by asking this…I’m planning to take a couple of trains in Bulgaria late next month, but I don’t know how reliable the information on the BDZ website is at the moment (I know it is complicated by the major works going on around Sofia station), and I’m really just looking for reassurance that I’ll be able to get a seat if I buy a ticket at the station on the day. When I messaged BDZ themselves, they just sent an automated response saying that trains could only be booked 5 days in advance, so I’ve got that bit. But I still have a couple of questions about the two specific trains I plan to take.Firstly, the BV7625 from Vidin to Sofia; this does appear within the 5 day window, but apparently only has one 2nd class carriage? If correct, that’s a massive reduction from the usual three 2nd class and one 1st cla
We are taking a night train from Budapest to Craiova in October 5th. There has been a constant glitch in the system and although a couchette option shows as available when I am logged out, it disappears when I am logged in. After multiple conversations with Eurasia customer service they said it’s a tech glitch and recommend getting a reservation at the station. This is making me nervous as I don’t want to be stuck without a reservation.does anyone know how busy this rail line is on October and what are my chances of booking a couchette in the station?I’ve only been in Europe in July before and most beds were sold out mid summer, so I have no frame of reference for October. Here are screenshots showing the couchette (when I’m logged out) and then showing only seats when logged in.any help appreciated.
Amsterdam to LondonLondon - ValenciennesValenciennes - ParisParis - Barcelona need seat reservation ?
HelloWe are looking to travel to the UK from Northern Spain this christmas. We are thinking of using the night train from Dax to Paris as it’s very tight to make the whole journey in one day. From doing a bit of research it looks like the night trains go on weekday nights but not weekends. But the day we want to travel is Friday 21st December and there does not appear to be any information for that train yet. I need to book the seats for the Eurostar and worry they might run out (we are a family of 4), but want to link them with the night train. Is there a phone number I can call (in English) to find out if the night train will run of that day? Thanks, Martha
Hi, if I miss a connection & travel on next available train the same day do I/can I update my Global Pass with new train timings? No seat reservation involved. Thanks
Hello all,Wondering if I’ll just have to suck it up or there’s a better way around this…Berlin to Amsterdam on the IC148 train (direct). When I reserved my seats, it gave me 3 seats in the 1st class, compartment carriage, which I do not like as it’s quite suffocating. Do you think if I book using the Eurail app I’d have more luck? Thanks so much!
Hello all,Wondering if someone can assist me. I’ll be travelling on the 29th of October from Zurich to Munich - when searching for a direct route on this date, nothing appears. However, other dates do show availability. Is there an event that is causing the lack of direct route options? If so, what are your best recommendations? Stop via Innsbruck, Stuttgart or Lindau? Thank you so much!
I would like to travel from Brussels to Budapest, and the following is itinerary is offered by all major reservation services:ICE at 16:32 from Brussels to Cologne / 12 minutes transfer time / ICE from Cologne to Mannheim / 7 minutes transfer time / ICE from Mannheim to Augsburg / 22 minutes transfer time / Euronight at 23:02 from Augsburg to Budapest direct .Zugfinder.net gives overall 50% chance that these connections would actually work, based on delay statistics. Based on experience with DB I also think it is a high-risk gamble. If it does not work out there is still a regular IC train to get later from Augsburg to Vienna overnight, to catch an early morning train to Budapest.I am willing to take the chance, but am wondering about the validity of the Interrail travel day. With the Euronight train, it would be sufficient to use one travel day for the whole trip, as it leaves Augsburg at 23:02 and goes to Budapest directly. But the later IC leaves only after midnight at 0:20 and also
Hey all. Just wondered if anyone knows what the recent Stockholm to Berlin Snälltåget night train punctuality has been like? I have reservations back to Brussels the Tuesday morning (28th), but these are all out of whack due I think to some major engineering works in Germany. Trying to grab some more reservations but not sure it'll be worth booking something out of Berlin before 10.00 if it's arrival time of 08.47 is unrealistic. Also, may consider hopping off at Hamburg if it is expected to be delayed... Thanks
Good afternoon,We have an interrail pass 1° class. I want to make reservations for me and my partner. His name I’ve also added in my “travel trip”. But … normally I book everything via interrail.eu. But there keeps popping up the result only for 1 traveller. But when I go to eurrai.com I can book as well, and there is popping up automatically the info for 2 pers. What is the reason for this? And does it make a difference if I book via EUrrail or Interrail?(I”ve screenshots but we can’t add this on this forum). Thanks for your support!
