Hello to all, I am new to this site. I will be in Europe for the 1st time 06/30 to 07/20. I will be traveling from Amsterdam to Rome and want to plan a route with my 7 day Euro Rail Pass. I want to stop at different places during my trip but one of those stops needs to be in Paris from 07/09 to 07/11. I would like to get some suggestions from those experienced travelers to plan my route. I would like to plan a 7 day route where I will NOT be transferring trains from one point to the other. I have never been to Europe therefore everything I see will be new to me therefore am not hard set on seeing anything specific other than being in Paris on the previously mention days. I do want to see the best places in Europe though during my 3 week travel. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. PS: I am also looking forward to making allot of new friends. LMorin
Hallo, I am staying in Les Sables D’Olohne and then going to Bordeaux. Looks like a day's journey only. Does anyone know if there is an overnight train useable with interrail? From there likley direct Borduex - Paris . Is there an overnight train for this journey? Many, many thanks,Barby
Hi guys, does anyone know of ways to get from Zagreb to Budapest as seat reservations are now unavailable on the rail app? Without having to pay a full priced ticket instead. Thanks :)
Hello, I have planned a route for spain and portugal and I have a global pass for a month. Can you help me in terms of lowering cost and planning better?Places and dates are as follows:10th -12th June Granada12-14th June Malaga 14-16th Sevilla16-19th Lisbon19-21st Porto21-24th Madrid24-26th barcelonaI wont use my pass between lisbon and seville. I ll use bus for that trip. Are there free reservations on other trips and can you also advise on the dates? Is there any night trains? Since I mostly try to use couchsurfing app, the dates are flexible. I dont know that I can find a place at everywhere, but im trying. I can also appreciate any help or advise regarding accommodation. Additionally, is there any advantage of using global pass except the trains? What I mean is is there a discount or any type of activities?thank you so much in advance
Hello, I’m moving from Costa Rica to Europe, and I will arrive at Barajas Airport in Madrid. My question is, with the global pass, do I have any form of transportation to get to the center of Madrid, or do I need to buy some other train pass?
Does the Bernina Express stop in St. Moritz? Looks like it doesn’t, though I can choose St. Moritz as a destination point on the Bernina Express website. Are those non-Bernina regional trains? Will the journey (views) be the same as the Bernina Express (other than the jog over to St. Moritz instead of Pontresina?
Hi all,This summer I would like to visit the Balkans as part of my interrail pass. However I do have some questions, so I hope someone can help me! The route I'm intending to take is as follows:Split Mostar Dubrovnik Kotor Bar Belgrade LjubljanaI already figured out that I need to take the bus to reach the first 4 destinations and to go from Belgrade to Ljubljana. I do have some questions about the rest of the route. Is there a train running from Kotor to Bar? Since I'm traveling in summer, there should be a night train from Bar to Belgrade. Is there any way I can reserve this train in advance?Could someone help me? If anyone has any additional advice regarding this route it would also be appreciated!
From the 1st of June till September, a seat reservation is obligatory on the ICEs between Amsterdam and Frankfurt. Normally, I can make a (first class) reservation at the website of the DB for € 5,90. But last week, when making a reservation in that period from Bern-Amsterdam, I suddenly had to pay double, € 11,80. Did anyone else experience this? How could this be prevented? It seems like a very healthy business model to me, making a reservation obligatory and then doubling the prices… For now, I just buy reservations for the leg Frankfurt-Amsterdam, but that means I’m screwed when the connection does’t work, which happens frequently.
I’m feeling a little neurotic at the thought of everything about my trip being on my smartphone and not having a hard copy backup. (It did not help that there was an item on the news today about phone thefts!)I really don’t expect to use the pages below but I can’t see why they should not be acceptable as an alternative to scanning my phone in a worst case scenario. (Obviously as this is an open forum I have redacted all personal information. However I hope it is clear what I have done.) Basically I have produced on three pages everything that is to be found on the ticket of a given day. At the start of each new page I have shown some information which is specific to the ticket from the previous page.Clearly I appreciate that this is for a particular set of trains planned for before setting off on my travels. However I am only travelling for seven days and I know precisely which trains I plan to catch.Am I deluding myself to think that I’ve got myself a back up system here?? Pete
Hey guys, i was just trying to buy a Ticket from Barcelona Sants to Paris Gare de Lyon on 15 june at the Renfe Desk. But they could not find „Paris“ and also on Renfe.com you cant find Paris Station. Can anyone help me?
I’m trying to book the nightjet from Prague to Zurich on August 24th. However I’ve looked many times over the past few weeks and although there is availability for the next month, there’s nothing for August at all it seems. Could be sold out, but seems like something else is the issue. I’ve written to nightjet with no response from them. I’ve tried on the Czech railways site as well. Can anyone help?
So, I believe I have all my seat reservations, especially the ones that get me to my next destination, but I did have some general questions. Are seat reservations required from Glasgow to London in the summer? Eurail says they are but I have seen others say they aren’t. I’m going to the F1 race in Austria, but staying in Vienna, should I make a seat reservation or will I be okay if I don’t? I’m planning on visiting a couple of other cities, while in Glasgow, London, and Italy, I know Italy requires reservations, but should I make them now or is the night before okay? Glasgow to Edinburgh and possibly Inverness London to Oxford, Dover, and Bakewell Rome to Venice, Pisa, or Florence
Like the title says. My partner and I purchased two two-month passes a couple weeks ago in anticipation for our upcoming trip of Western Europe and I can say, without a doubt, that the user experience of this website/service has been incredibly poor, confusing, unhelpful, and unnecessarily stressful. There are a multitude of reasons why so I’m going to list them out numerically.Consistent missing data - Whenever we first wanted to make reservations/plan out our trip, the entire country of Ireland and the majority of the UK stations were missing from the search bar. They simply would not appear. We kept scrambling around to figure out what to do and if we misread the locations served. We eventually went on the Irishrail website and placed a reservation just in case. A couple of days later both Ireland and a handful of different UK stations were functioning again on the app/website. It worked out either way because we wanted to place a reservation leaving the Dublin Station anyway and it
Hi, I’m looking for help. I’m hoping to reserve places on the sleeper train between Budapest and Bucharest. Specifically the 473 Istar that departs Budapest at 19:10. I’ve tried four different sites. None seem to allow me to reserve a sleeper bed or couchette with an Interrail pass. Can anyone advise how I can reserve couchette places on this train? We are travelling as a family of four and really want to get this reserved in advance, I don’t want to risk waiting to make the reservation when we arrive in Budapest. I’ve seen this question asked before but none of the solutions seem to work for me. Below is a list of what I have tried so far. Thanks Pat https://www.interrail.eu/I can’t book through here at present as my journey date is 90+ days out but if I try another date I only get offered a 3 euro reservation. No option to select couchette or sleeper. https://shop.oebbtickets.at/This site works as expected but doesn’t appear to sell tickets for the dep 19:10 train. I can add my In
When i try to book seats with interrail book reservation system, I have always this message : Désolé, une erreur est survenue. Veuillez réessayer ultérieurement ou trouver un autre trajet. Le trajet actuel sera supprimé de votre panier. I want to book train from Hamburg to Copenhaguen 31th july, 12h53 - 18h, but can not succeed. Can I book directly with DB website in Germany ? there is a button to book seat only but no mention of Interrail pass, so I don’t if I can do it like that
Top insights (details below):Spain is only partly bookable in advance with Interrail – a real headache if you want to plan your journeys, connections and accommodation in advance!! It works best if you are physically in Spain, travelling around Spain is a large country, so train journeys are long – allowing time for a safe connection time means you may not arrive till 9-10pm Turn up at least 20-30 minutes beforehand for the intercity trains – luggage security scans, ticket checks and takes time to board, as trains are usually almost full Need to join Renfe for internet access – complex as wants your passport number, ticket info etc Coaches are the alternative if the train can’t get you there Have just done my first ever Interrail trip from London to Spain and Portugal. I am an experienced train traveller and seat61 and Rail Europe are my faves.Planning via seat 61 is great, but actually putting it into practice for Spain was very stressful and frustrating. It took me weeks of care
My daughter is currently traveling with an itinerary of London-Italy-Croatia-Austria-Brussels-London. Her group tried to get a train today from Trieste, Italy into Croatia, but they were not allowed on without a reservation, even though the app said no reservations were required and the train wasn't full. They booked a bus journey instead but she is now worried that she will hit the same problem with later trips. Her itinerary includes high speed trains between Villach-Salzburg on Wednesday and Salzburg-Frankfurt and Frankfurt-Brussels next Sunday (she has a reservation for Brussels-London).Again, the app says no reservations are required but might could this be changed leaving them stranded the last minute again?
I am soooo confused! I have read a lot but still can’t work out how to book the reservation I need for the section of my trip from Barcelona to Paris. everything else is booked including accommodation in all destinations but I can’t book the reservation to Paris.we will only be arriving in Spain a couple of days before so can’t risk leaving it until then to book. Please help!
HelloDo you have any information on the opening of reservations for the Berlin Paris night train around August 17? Or the Berlin Zurich? And also for the Stockolm Narvik at the beginning of August?Thank you in advance for your information and have a nice weekend!
Hi, I am wanting to book a seat reservation for the following train, but how can I do this? I am slightly confused on who the train operator is too. Thanks :))
We are travelling from Zermatt to Florence on 1 August and trying to make seat reservations. (Hopefully the screen shot of trip is visible below). We have 2 questions:The first segments: Zermatt to Brig and then Brig to Domodossola have a green “ready to board” message. Does this mean we don’t need to book a seat, but can just board with our eurail global pass? In Domodossola it looks like we need to catch a bus to Milan (due to rail works?), how do we do this please? From Milan to Florence I’ve booked and paid for seats, but I don’t know how to book the bus to enure we get to Milan on time to catch the train again to Florence.
I am only missing our one last day of the interrail, as I am waiting for this route to be available. But even after once in a while always checking the rail app and raileurope website, this route that can take us from Florence (06.55 am) to Utrecht Centraal (9.29 pm) is only available so far until 15 July, whereas we are planning our trip on 31 July 2024. The problem is that the last train from Basel SBB - Utrecht Centraal that is available up to 15 July is not available on 16 July onwards yet. But all other preceeding trains up to Basel Sbb is already available with the exact same time. Is there a reason for that? Should i wait longer for this last train route and this route would hopefully appear? Any help would be appreciated! The trip that we want to take: The last train’s options available for the 31st July
Hi! I tried to buy a ticket from Budapest to Ljubljana, but It says "Seat reservations required, You need to buy a seat reservation to board". However, I cannot buy the ticket. How can I make the reservation? Attached the screenshot of the problem. Thank you!
I’m not travelling yet and just getting the hang of how my pass works. I’ve activated my pass and I put on some of my tickets. I saw a message come up which said something about not being able to use apple wallet whilst using interrail ticket. Foolishly I did not write it down. The message has now gone and I deactivated and reactivated my ticket to try and see it again, but it has not re-appeared. Does this make sense to anyone? Is there anything I need to be aware of regarding the use of my apple wallet and the interrail pass?Peter
