Train connections & reservations

Hi everyone !!!  Help!!   We are booking our trains for our great euro adventure.  Im interested to hear if anyone has any positive stories about reserving first class seats.  The first train we need to reserve is April 30 ( Paris to lucerne ) and seats can't be booked yet.  (so hard when you can't lock plans in, in advance )  Sigh.  We are keen to be organised but we are super stressed we will not get seats.  Does anyone have any actual insight into what date I will be actually be able to book our reservations ? Very grateful to hear any personal experiences :) 

We are arriving at de Gaulle airport, and want to go directly to Bayeux. Trying to figure out the quickest/most effective way to do so. It seems we need to go through the St Lazare station, and the best way between there and the airport is the RER train. However, not sure what passes we need, or if we need to purchase passes in advance at all. Thank you!

Hi, Does anyone have experience with traveling from San Sebastian to Paris via Hendaye station in 1 day? What is the best connection between san sebastian and hendaye? by train or by bus? thanks, Remco

Hallo zusammen :) Ich plane im Juni meine erste Interrail Reise. Ich hab nun schon länger die Strecke geplant und dachte ich frag mal hier im Forum nach. Es wäre echt super hilfreich, eure Meinungen zu hören. Vielleicht kann ich ja manche Strecken besser planen, als bisher.Undzwar startet die Reise in Portugal. Der Plan ist wie folgt:Porto -> Lissabon (3h) Lissabon -> Faro   (3h)        Faro -> Sevilla (mit Bus)  und dann weiter mit dem Zug Sevilla -> Cadiz  (1,5h)    Cadiz -> Valencia  (9h) Valencia -> Barcelona  (3,5h) Barcelona -> Montpellier (3h) Montpellier -> Deutschland (9h)Ich würde falls möglich lieber mit der Regio fahren um die Reservierungskosten zu meiden. Aber soweit ich gesehen hab, ist das bei den Kurzstrecken (vor allem die in Portugal) nicht möglich. Bei den längeren Strecken, sind Schnellzüge wohl sinnvoller. Am teuersten ist der TGV nach Deutschland, was sich leider kaum vermeiden lässt.Sollte jemand bessere Alternativen haben, gerne her dami

Hey everyone!I‘m currently planning my first interrail trip and thought it would be fun to take the ferry from venice to Igoumenitsa. If i understand it correctly, Global Pass holders should be able to travel free with Attica Group Greece-Italy (Superfast Ferries in cooperation with ANEK LINES) as it is stated under pass benefits:»Global Pass holders are entitled to:International Lines:Free air seats or dormitories (where available) for 1st class Pass holders and free deck passage for 2nd class Pass holders«But if i want to book the passage on their website, only the interrail/eurail greek island pass is listed on the discount-dropdown. Another problem is, that the ferries won‘t show up in the interrail app, if i search for connections between Venice and Igoumenitsa.Maybe someone has an idea what i‘m doing wrong or are the pass benefits just not up to date?Any help would be much appreciated,thanks! 

Hi, I want to travel home by night train. I have 10 days within 2 months pass and i have still one travel day and one inbound journey left. The pass is valid until 27 January 2024. I want to travel home with night train from Prague to Warsaw. I wont change any trains and train leaves at 21:00 and arrives at 09:20 next day. I want use ony other trains after this night train. Is it possible to use it with onluy one travel days remaning? Another question is about the RailPlanner app. This train EN441 is a direct train. However during journey sleeping cars are connected to different train in Bohumin. This happens while everyone is sleeping and noone notices it. However RailPlanner does not see it and marks destination for EN441 as Bohumin which is not true. Therfore i will need to add it manually (of course if i can use it - this is what the first question is about). Wont adding it manually be a problem?Done Interrailing three times and this is the first one when i get really confused. Gre

Our doubt centers on the last day of travel (the seventh) as we are not aware if there is a route that connects Milan - Bari (and which is covered by interrail). Does anyone know if a train from Milan to Bari is available? And if so, does Interrail cover the trip?Ita: Buongiorno community di interrail. I see that the Eurail site allows a couchette on the train from Rome to Siracusa to be booked - but it only offers either a seat or Promiscuo. I would like to get a CC-DONNA place though - why doesn’t the Eurail site offer this?is there any site that does? I tried raileurope.com but couldn’t find any reservation-only price, only for full ticket, even though I entered Interrail pass.(Getting ready for fitst ever interrailing - exciting!) TIA

Morning!Travelling from London to Lille then on to Marseille. Is 37 mins too short between trains at Lille Europe? Many thanks.  

We (6 adults) plan to travel on the train from Chur (Switzerland) to Milan (Italy) via Tirano (Italy) on Monday 26th February 2024. My questions are:Given it is a middle of winter in Europe, does Bernina Express run on this day (Monday, 26 Feb 2024) departing Chur? Can we take normal rail (other than Bernina Express) to travel from Chur to Tirano on the same day? Is there a connected train to travel to Milan from Tirano on that day and how long does it take to arrive in Milan?

Hello 👋I'm trying to book the Euronight from Malmö C to Berlin for the 9th March (it's a Saturday) but Track Work Planned is noted from that date and on. I checked the planned work schedule and March is not included, so anyone that have experience with SJ can tell me if I have to wait more to book or is better begin to plan an alternative route? I should go to Berlin from Oslo and I know that Snälltåget is not an option during my travel days. Anyway it would be nice to have a plan B in case of cancellation, would it make sense to consider the ferry from Stockholm?  I'm open to any suggestion as long doesn't require more than a travel day and an half.

Hi community - Im ttravelling on a first-class eurail card and rying to book a train arriving into Paris in the next day or so. im travelling from copenhagen and all parts of every trip are available excluding the final part into Paris? Any tips or advice helpful. Thanks, Phabien

We are traveling  on these dates who have first-class global passes, and we have five luggages with us. Could you help to explain the distinction between a recommended seat reservation and an optional seat reservation? 

We have reservations at Sparschiene for 31/12/2023 07:05 Zagreb Glavni kolodvor -> 11:07 Villach Hbf (EC212), 11:16 Villach Hbf -> 13:48 Salzburg Hbf (EC112) via ÖBB site.(including seat reservation).There has been a change in my reservation, apparently the train has been changed from EC212 to D212. However, there seems to be no change in time, etc., just a change in train cars. Also, the ticket I currently have is still EC212. Question 1)Please see in image 1. "Please remember to find out about the alternative trains or transports available to you during the time the ticket is valid", so is it necessary to purchase an alternative ticket? Or can I still board the train with this ticket?Question 2)When I click on "Show alternative services", I can see the alternatives as shown in image 2. If I need to purchase an alternative ticket, do I need to pay 152.20 euro to purchase the ticket again? Image 1: Image2: 

Hello everyone, I’m a non-EU resident and am currently in France. I’m looking forward to traveling to Belgium from Paris on the 23th of December (I should’ve planned ahead, I know.) The problem is that, I can’t make seat reservation using the Rail Planner app/ Eurail site. It says :“Prices unavailableNo price results were found. Pass holder reservations may be sold out for this connection, but there are other ways to check for available seats—more info below our timetable.”I tried using the Eurostar and SNCF site, there are tickets available starting from 90€, I have no idea how to use my Eurail to book it. (or if it’s even possible to do so? Because I can only book at full price which is understandably high.) Or if I need to go to a train station to book it, I’d be willing to. The app does say that the in-app schedules aren’t the most recent since it was last updated yesterday. That’s why I would like to know if there are other ways to book it with Eurail pass at lower price. This who

 I had a look at booking sites for the Bernina Express and I’m unsure what they’re telling me. I want to reserve seats for April 21 departing from Chur at 8:28 arriving at Tirano 12:49. After doing some research, I’ve decided to go on the panoramic train, first class using my Eurail Pass. The results I am getting from different sites is confusing me. The Eurail site tells me “Prices for this journey will start to be available 60 days before departure.” The help on the page says I can book at the following site, but that one seems to indicate that I can book BUT there’s only 4 seats left on the train On the other hand, the OBB site says tickets not available And Rail Europe says it’s available 

I’m not sure what I need to do on this trip and am after a bit of direction. I have a 1st class Eurail pass and one of the trips I want to do is Pordenone to Vienna on May 2. The planner shows this to be a 6 hour 29 minute trip including a trip on RJ132 high speed train. All the other trips I’ve looked at, and booked, involving high speed train travel cost upwards for 40AUD to reserve a seat. This trip seems to show 3 - 6 Euro depending on the web site and the Eurail site shows it to be free??? It also shows prices for 3 different classes, 1st, 1st Business and 2nd. I’m not sure what it’s trying to tell me. I thought 1st and 1st business were essentially the same. What do I get for zero, and does the fact that the list includes a price for 2nd class mean that I can downgrade on this leg, even thoughI have already purchased a 1st class pass? I’m very confused!  

Which is the best web site to book the 1:12 PM Paris Nord - 2:30 PM London St-Pancras on May 22?According to the Eurail web site, “Prices for this journey will start to be available 180 days before departure.” May 22 is less than 180 days from now so those prices should just about be there. The only other site I could find that would accept a booking was www.b-europe.com but that doesn’t seem to accept Eurail as a discount so the price shows as 218 Euro for a 1st class Mid Flex. . Is that the one I should be booking?

I’d like to make the following trip but on this web site it says I have to break the trip down into 2 trips because I don’t need to reserve a seat on the first leg. Other sites seem to suggest that I can book the entire journey. My understanding is that if I book the entire journey and the first leg runs late, it’s up to the carrier to help me get a connecting train without penalty. But if I do as this site suggests and break the trip down into two legs and the first train runs late, then I lose my reservation cost on the second leg. Is my understanding correct? Should I book the trip on another site that allows the whole journey to be booked, or would it be safe to break it down?

I have been told that the sleeper for the Prague to Zurich is currently only available till mid Feb. I intend checking regularly until the 9/5/2024 booking is available, but in the meantime I want to make sure I choose the right train and right booking method. On an earlier question I was told “This can be booked at https://www.nightjet.com/ train number is EN 50466 Add Interrail/Eurail as discount for each passenger and search to get passholder fare. Cost for 2 in private sleeper is €116 or €156 for en-suite sleeper.” The one I want is the cost for 2 in an en-suite sleeper.So if I go to nightjet.com and enter a date in early Feb (to see how it works) I select adults and load my discount, it gives me the following options. Would the first one be the right one to make the desired bookingOn a subsequent question I was told “The sleeper can currently be booked until 18 February, on tickets.oebb.at and cd.cz”. Hi, I want to book the Bernina Express from Tirano to Chur and one day later from Chur to Tirano. I've read that from Tirano to Chur (so from south to north) you best book seats on the left side and from Chur to Tirano (north to south) best on the right side. But… when I want to book, they are saying “No information on the driving direction is available.” so I have no clue what's the left or right side of the train. Now I was thinking maybe I'd best book one directions on one side of the train and the way back on the other side, so at least one way we will enjoy the best view, but this is of course only valid if the train does not turn around, which I actually highly doubt it does. Can someone confirm if the train turns around or not? Or does someone know which seat number are on which side of the train? Any other tips for booking the Bernina Express? Thanks!! Silke
