Train connections & reservations

I’m planning on taking an Amsterdam-Berlin train tomorrow, however every train for the day is sold out of seat reservations. The website said that they were optional so I didn’t think anything of it.  My question is this: will I still be able to board the train, and if there truly are no seats available, will I be allowed to just stand or sit on the floor somewhere that doesn’t obstruct anything?

We're a family of 5 looking to book the overnight sleeper from Berlin to Stockholm. Couchettes sleep 6 and we'd like a private sleeper cabin. Booking for 5 (each with Railcard), it's 2,075 SEK, in a shared cabin while the private cabin comes in at an eye watering 11,410 SEK!!!Adding a 'phantom child' ticket (without a Railcard) to ensure we don't share, comes in at a reasonable 3,192SEK.Has anyone had experience of booking for a non travelling child?! Are there any risks of doing this? Penalty fares?! 😬

As part of my upcoming trip, I booked a reservation on a Eurocity train between Zurich HB and Milano through the Eurail website. Listed under “conditions of use” on the ticket it says “This ticket is valid only when printed with a laserjet or inkjet printer on a white A4 sheet of paper, blank on both sides, in portrait format (vertical) and in the original, unchanged font size. Under no circumstances may it be presented on other media (electronic, screen, etc.).” I live in the United States and do not have easy access to A4 paper. Can I get away with 8.5”x11” paper as is commonly found here, since they are very similar? Can they print it for me at the Zurich train station? Is there a way to add this to my apple wallet with every other reservation I have instead? Thanks in advance.

So I’m planning to travel from Switzerland to Malgrat de Mar in Spain and have managed to add the journey up to Girona and make the necessary reservations. It seems that Malgrat de Mar is not in the Interrail Schedule but it is covered in the pass. What’s the correct way of manually adding the journey from Girona up to Malgrat de Mar?I have found out that it is possible to add the journey by entering Girona as the starting station and then just any other station in Spain as the destination. Then I can scroll down, add the journey manually and then change the destination station to Malgrat de Mar (and add the other info). While this does seem to work, it also feels like this really isn’t the intended way to do this and I am scared that the resulting ticket may seem suspicious to a ticket inspector. I have, however, not found any other way of adding a journey where the destination station is not in the schedule.

Dear Community I’m attempting to book seats on the IC 306 Hamburg to Malmo (Stockholm) 9:51-15:35 on Tuesday 26 May. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to find a site or app where I can reserve seats. I’ve tried Eurail/Interail, DB, Snalltaget, DSB, ÖBB, etc. without success.Can anyone enlighten me on how I can make a reservation as it says seat reservations are required.Thanks in anticipation Steve Passey

Hello everyone,I have won the DiscoverEU pass and with it comes 4 free seat reservations. I have used 3 of them but would like to keep the last one for a different journey. When trying to book a seat reservation it only allows me to use the free credit. How can i pay for it instead of using the seat reservation?any help would be appreciated!kind regards, Oscar

Hey,We are going from Nizza to Barcelona today. We would have changed the train three times, however the second train from Marseilles I am in right now is heavily delayed and we won't get the next one.Thing is there are no reservations to be made for these following ones so we didn't pay money for it but all the trains we can now take instead are about 30€ for reservations (+like two hours more to wait).Is there any way to avoid having to pay for this train that we didn't plan on taking? Thanks in advanceStella

I need an earlier Eurostar from St Pancras international, London, same day to make a connection TGV in Paris. I have been unable both through Eurostar and Eurrail site to find a space to exchange Eurostar to an earlier time of day. I see there is only 50 minutes between supposed arrival (if on time!) to make 14 subways stops on a Friday in  Paris, not to mention the distance between above ground platforms to the subway/metro. Will I lose the $60+ booking fee I already paid on the Eurrail site? Meanwhile, each day booking and rates are increasing. My Eurostar/Eurrail bookings both made on the Eurrail site with my 1st class Eurrail pass for May 29 (14 days. It is the last TGV of the day (only 2 daily go to Les Sables d’Olonne, my destination. I have 2 case files waiting for answers from each of Eurostar and Eurrail customer service. This is time consuming. Help - Au secours! I would like to travel from Chartres to Pontorson Mont St Michel (France) at 15:12 on 24 June.  I am getting an error message, “Not Included in Pass.” I would like to purchase the ticket but don’t see a button for the transaction.  What do I do? 

Hello,I bought a 4‑day Interrail pass. I planned to do: Day 1: Lyon–Zurich Day 2: night train Zurich–Prague Day 3: Prague–Berlin Day 4: night train Berlin–Paris (18h31-10h42 europeen sleeper), then Paris–Lyon two hours later. Does this work, or do I need a 5‑day Interrail pass?

Hi,I was thinking of doing a long travel day, and my last train switch would be at 23:59 (still same travel day). I was wondering, if my train has delays and only comes at 00:20… is this a new travel day then?Thank you in advance!

I want to book the train from Krakow Glowny to Vienna central station on Sunday 21st June for me and one other person. I have tried to book the 10:21am multiple times on the OBB Austrian railway website but every time I go through the whole process and then after paying it says ‘Reservation not possible’ and ‘Please change your reservation request’. I have tried multiple times on this website and as well on the PKP intercity website. Neither work and interrail says this journey requires a reservation. Does this mean the train is full, I’m too early to reserve the seats or something else? Any help would be appreciated :)

Hello, we are a group of 4 travelling from Paris to Tabres on the SNCF night train. We all have Global Eurail passes. Two friends would like to join us on the trip by buying direct tickets from SNCF.Is there any way we can book seat reservations so all of us can get places in the same 6-bed couchette? As far as I can see the Eurail website allows to add only passholders. Thanks!

So I’m planning my first interrail in my plan atm is to fly from Finland to Gdansk (real cheap) and start my rail from there! What trains should I take to get to Prague or is it just easier to fly straight to Prague or Krakow?  Thanks for any help!

Hei, we have seniot interrail tickets. We fly to Palermo first. We cannot get seating places to train from Palermo to Salerno 1.5, time 10.15. How we can pay them and get our tickets to phone?

Hello - I have 3 days in Lucerne in April and one of the trips I’d like to do is from Lucerne to Interlaken. I’ve seen lots of comments about not needing to reserve trains in Switzerland but thought I’d check it out. I’ve had a look on OBB and SBB and Rail Europe and can’t find any reservations available. It seems possible on the Eurail site itself. The only other place I can see to purchase them is at https://store.luzern.com/luzern_en/specials/daytrips/zentralbahn-int-lu   I’ve looked on there for 24th April and the seating plan shows quite a lot of seats are already booked so it seems as though it might be a good idea to book after all? Or could it be that only some seats are able to be reserved and the rest are left for people to hop on/hop off? Has anyone booked reservations via this shop? Many thanks for advice

Hi,I m travelling in Portugal with my girlfriend with our bikes. We were today in Lisbonne and we try to book a train between Porto campanha to  Pontevedra in spain passing by Redondela de Galicia.The problem is on the train between Porto an Redondela de Galicia the 9 of May at 8h10. And which arrive at 11h31 af Redondela de galicia. This train can be found on interrail timetable, can't be booked online with interrail and at  lisbon ticket office they said that the train do not exists because it stop at Vigo. I try to search it on CP and on RENFE app and effectively no train appear for this search. Does someone know if this train exist ?  (I hope yes) If not, does someone know how to be at Pontevedra before 17h (Spain hour) from Porto on Saturday (with our bikes but we can unmount and put them into bags).

My daughter 23F and I 61M are traveling to Munich/Salzburg/Vienna in late June/early July.  I am trying to determine what type of tickets I need for the rail from Munich to Salzburg and then Salzburg to Vienna.  Any thought or suggestions?

Hello,I’m currently planning my Interrail trip and I’m having some issues with the connection between Italy and Switzerland. I want to travel from Milan to Basel SBB on June 9th, originally with EC 150 around 11:10, but I can’t manage to book a seat reservation for this train. On ÖBB and Trenitalia it says either “no seats available” or “temporarily not available for purchase”. On the Rail Planner app, it also says that seats for Interrail Pass holders on EC 150 are likely already sold out.Basel is not my final destination, but I need to be there before 17:30 to continue my trip. I tried to find other options than EC 150, but all the ones I saw are kind of blocked.Does anyone know if there is still any way to get a reservation for the EC 150 train, or what alternative routes you would recommend if it’s not available? I’m also open to using regional trains or other options if needed.Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi all, I'm travelling from Interlaken to Rome via Milan on the 2nd of August. I'm taking the following route:Interlaken West - Spiez - Domodossola - Milano Centrale - Roma Termini.I'm still yet to get seat reservations for the Spiez - Milano Centrale stretch. On the ÖBB and RailEurope planners, I see that EC61 from Basel SBB to Milano Centrale shows as 2 separate trips, from Basel to Domodossola and from Domodossola to Milan. I wanted to get in at Spiez to go straight to Milan. However, on the Interrail planner, the trip from Basel to Domodossola is not listed at all. Could there be any reason for this? Hi! My group and I just bought the Eurail Global pass and we just had some confusion regarding booking seat reservations on the trains. On some legs of our train travel, it says “No price results were found. Pass holder reservations may be sold out for this connection, but there are other ways to check for available seats—more info below our timetable.” Does this mean that we will not get a seat at all, or that we just have to show up and hope that we can find a seat for that train?  Are we able to book seat reservations through other websites such as Trainline using our Eurail pass, and if so, how does one go about that?  If a train booking says “open seating only” does that mean first come first serve?  If our train connection is less than 10 minutes, are we likely to actually make that train? If you can only answer one of the above questions that is still a major help! We’re just feeling a little overwhelmed regarding the trains and want to make sure we are doing it right :)Thank yo

Hi, I am trying to book seats from München to Bologna on 18th july 8.17, 1st class seats. I understand there is a Brenner pass included, and the seats in the italian connection used to be expensive. But the price is still 442 euro for 5 people.  Am I doing anything wrong, or is it this expensive this year? 

Hello, I have a very imortant question. Me and my friend want to take trains from madrit to poland thru france, italy and few more. On most of the trains it says to reserve seats. Do i really have to do that? Its not very expensive but can add up quickly. Please let me know.
