Train connections & reservations

Hello everyone!We are trying to book a bed reservation on the night train from Karlsruhe HBF to Berlin HBF, dated on the 17th of September (departing at 23:06 and arriving at 7:20). From the Interrail App, I can only book regular seats, while the app itself did show that there were more options (single bed, bed in a dormitory, etc...). In the reservation section, all these options disappear. How can I book a bed reservation if the system doesn’t show them?Thank you for your help

Hi! So, I was planning on traveling through the Balkans in June, starting off in Romania (fairly easy to access country) and was wishing to go from there to Belgrade (Serbia) and then Sarajevo (Bosnia) before maybe going into Croatia. Turns out though, that getting from anywhere in Romania to Belgrade is impossible - the Interrail timetables doesn't even recognize Belgrade as a location,which is odd.Looking into other Serbian cities, although they ARE listed, this image comes up with every single city connection. On the other hand, in the section about Serbia (https://www.eurail.com/en/get-inspired/top-destinations/serbia-train) on the interrail webpage it talks about several connections from places like Zurich or Bucharest. So, what is the deal? I hear it's impossible to cross over from Romania directly right now, but even if I get a bus to cross the border, how come serbian trains aren't even showing up?Sorry, I know the questions is kinda specific. Any sort of help is welcome. :)

First, the responses I’ve received on this platform have been great and have resolved several seat reservation issues.  So thank you.   I’m finishing up reservations on my 3 month European excursion and need to book Bordeaux-St. Jean to Paris Montparnasse for the morning of Dec. 13, 2023.  Eurail site has and the travel b Europe site, which I think is SNCF, have slots until Dec. 9, and it’s been that way for weeks.  I really want to proceed with another connection that evening, but before I book I need to confirm this Bordeaux to Paris leg.  I think I saw a phone number, but I’m in Southeast Asia and have Skype, so I don’t know if it will work.   Is there an alternative to the methods I’ve been trying (Eurail/Travel b Europe)?  

Why is there a difference between the Interrail app and site? I want to take a train from krakow to Budapest, but the app shows: reservation needed. If I go to the interrail site it shows: you are ready to board for the same train.. Is a reservation needed for this trip? 

Hello! I’m trying to book a reservation on a night train from Vienna to Paris (NightJet 468) for the 9th of November, but for some reason, there are no offers available for most of November at all, although there’s at least something for the whole of October.Am I too early? As far as I know, ÖBB usually opens reservations up to 90 days ahead, but maybe this train or this time is an exception. I'm worried that all of November is sold out already, though that seems quite unlikely.Thanks to anyone ready to help out in advance! 

I leave at the weekend and feel a little nervous about using my pass. I have a paper pass, travelling into Italy. Can I confirm, if the train doesn’t need a reservation, I simply write the journey on my paper planner and board the train? I sit anywhere that doesn’t have a reservation ticket on the seat? Is this correct? Also, do I need to validate my ticket? It has the start date on it and is a 22 day pass.

I want to go from Paris to München on 22.09 and I made a reservation on two trains on the app. The first one need seat reservation but when I try to buy it it says “Prices Not Available”. One of the solutions posted said that I could go to the train station, but I’m not even in the continent. Other way was to go to the original train page and buy it there but I can’t find how to buy it from the SNCF.

Was trying to board a bus from Nantes to NOIRMOUTIER. Interrail tells me the ride is free with the TER replacement bus. However the scanner would not recognize the QR code and, being the last jus, I ended up paying 22 Euro for the ticket. I am still up for my journey back and very much would be interested on how to get a free reservation the bus driver recognizes.

I’m trying to book the high-speed train from Barcelona to Valencia (Renfe Euromed) on July 7th, however when checking all the popular websites to book online (Trainline, Renfe, Omio) there is no option to book this train. I have checked other dates out of curiosity and sometimes the train comes up and sometimes it doesn’t. For example, it is available to book on May 13, but not on May 12 or 14. Can someone please help? 

Hey team.I’m trying to book a ticket between Berlin Hbf and Amsterdam Centraal on the 19/11/23, either the 08:33 or 10:33 service.I’m unable to do so through the Eurail website. I’ve also tried OBB and DB sites, and I’ve seen ‘ticket not available’Does this mean the train is booked out? Am I not able to get on this train?Thanks.

We are booked, 1st class, on the 8:13 AM train from Paris Est to Luxemburgh.  How far in advance should we arrive at the station?

Hello !I've bougth an Interail Pass in 1st class, I decided to not take a seat reservation if it's not needed.If the train is not full, can I take available place in 1st class room without problem since I have a 1st class pass ?I hope my question is clear !Thank you

Today I booked my obligated seat reservation for the EC (Berlin - Warszawa) and EIP (Warszawa - Krakow). My app says it needs additional supplement, but the women at the service desk of DB said it was included. Is it? Because the site shows it is only included when booked at pkp? If it isn’t can I pay with card when on the train? These extra things are really unclear to me…:/

Hi there, I’m looking to take the train from Berlin to Warsaw in October and I need a seat reservation. On interrail, it says i will receive a paper ticket if I try and book it. The thing is, I’m leaving shortly and won’t be able to receive it before I leave. Is there any way to have it as an e-ticket?Also, I checked on the DB website (the train. company that operates the train I want to take), but I don’t see any option to reserve a seat without the whole ticket (there are still tickets available btw), and on OBB it says “ticket not available”… I would really need a reservation for this specific train and I don’t know how to do it, please help. Ab wann kann man hier Verbindungen für April/Mai 2024 reservieren? Momentan ist lediglich der Zeitraum bis November 2023 hinterlegt?Danke    

What can I do in this situation?We are travelling from London to Geneva via Paris in October.We initially had a 79 minute changeover in Paris, where we had to get from Gare du Nord to Gare De Lyon (by the RER) - plenty of time.Eurostar have just written to us and changed our departure time from London, putting it back 30 mins, and with slightly longer travel times, we now have a 40 minute connection time.I tend to be pretty blase about these sort of things, but even I’m a bit nervous about making the connection on time.Am I able to request a change to an earlier train out of London to ensure we make the connection (at no cost)? We’re 6 weeks out from travel.

I want to get a 9 a.m. train to Paris from Interlaken on 19th September but I’m getting a message that it is “Not in the Pass Network” (see first attached screenshot). Could this be because the engineering works between Interlaken and Spiez are still incomplete and a replacement bus service is still operating? Or is it due to some other issue, in which case what options are available to me?Also, in connection with this same journey, and specifically with the 12.50 Strasbourg to Pars leg of it, I’m getting notified that “Seat reservations are required” but adjacent to this message is the word “FREE” (see second attached screenshot). At the risk of mockery, does this mean that I must obtain a reservation but that it will cost me nothing, and if so, then what do I need to do and where do I need to got in order to obtain the seat reservation?I am travelling on a 1st Class Continuous Interrail Pass, valid until 10th October.  

Me and my friend sent our seat reservation tickets to our hostel in Krakow and they were supposed to arrive on the 16th of September. But apparently they arrived today (8th of September) to a post office  (UP Krakow 1). Since we don’t arrive in Krakow until the 23rd of September we won't be able to pick them up before they get sent back (within 7 days). Is there some way we could change this or send them to another adress? We need help!

Hi everyone. We are from a country in Asia, our Europe trip will be in November (me, my husband and our 3yo son).  We have read so much information about Eurail pass, all the positives negatives related to train travel but still we are interested to try this kind of sustainable mode of travel. And yes, we feel like we are still lack of insight 😅So this is our plan:We will reach UK first, and on 10th November we plan to go to Bruges (quoted from railplanner: London - Bruxelles Midi 1104-1405, change trains 24 mins, Bruxelles Midi 1429-1530).  Would the change trains of 24 mins doable, with the walking distance, passport control, check-in process?  How about delayed trains, how often is it happened for Eurostar London-Bruxelles?  Spend 1 day there, and go to Paris on 11th Nov (quoted from railplanner: Bruges - Bruxelles Midi 1209-1308, change trains 13 mins, Bruxelles Midi-Paris Nord 1321-1444). Again, is it possible for us to change trains in 13 mins? Travel to Iseltwald Switzerland on

Hi Everyone,New here and embarking on a solo trip this October. Learned about the Gotthard tunnel delays and was wondering about the impact to my Milan-Zurich train on Oct 31st. From Zurich I have a sleeper to Hamburg with a 90-min connection time. 3 Q’s:I booked my ticket in May through Trenitalia (it was the lowest fare back then) so a deeply discounted fare. Will Trenitalia change my ticket free of charge, if I ask, as the tunnel blockage will likely mean my connection time will be reduced by 60 min now due to the re-routing?  On the Trenitalia website, when I check my ticket, it still shows the original arrival time. Does this mean that the train will still go and arrive as planned? Should I do nothing, and change the ticket if needed, on the day of?thank you very much. :)

I have a First Class Interrail Pass though, when I booked Eurostar seat reservations via SNCB, only Standard and Business class reservations were options on the screen. I booked Standard ones (as Passholder seats were disappearing quickly) though want to change to Standard Premier seats that are covered by my First Class pass, even paying a small upgrade charge. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to do this via Eurostar/Interrail/Eurail/SNCB. Currently there are no spare Standard Premier seats left on my outbound journey, though there are on my inbound one. This forms one of the reasons I bought I First Class pass. Any suggestions please? Thanks.

Hi everyone, I hope to travel with my husband and two young kids from Basel to Milano and I'm trying to figure out how to interpret all the info regarding the Gotthard tunnel. Does the train from Basel to Milano (transfer at Bellinzona) also go through this tunnel? The schedule, shown below, shows the delay after Bellinzona, but isn't the tunnel before this city?   Also, SBB advises (https://news.sbb.ch/artikel/124161/entgleisung-im-gotthard-basistunnel-alles-was-sie-fuer-ihre-reise-wissen-muessen) to travel via Zuerich (quote below), but isn't that the same train that ends up going through the tunnel as the one from Basel to Bellinzona? I hope someone can shed some light on this for me. We're actually travelling the night before from the Nederlands to Basel and hope to travel from Basel to Rome the next day (hence my questions on the Basel - Milano stretch).

Hey Guys,I going Back to Germany and would Take the train from Florence to Dortmund. The train Starts at 13:20 and i have 4 Changes. The departure of my Last Train would be around 00:01 from munich to Dortmund. My Question is, i really need a new travelday because of that 2 minutes ?Thanks a Lot for your Help and greetings !

Hi,First days of trip and I am spending hours struggling with booking the next leg of our journey. I am learning a lot about Interrail in the process but this is too time consuming. I now realise I should have done all this planning before our first day of travel. I didn't expect things to be this complicated!We need to go from Montpellier to Málaga. I thought we could do this in 1 day of travel but it seems very difficult to reserve the trains in Spain online!Any tips? Thanks in advance. 

Question for you all. I am traveling from Copenhagen to Stockholm. Unfortunately the SJ is sold out so I have to change in Malmö. The change only gives me 18 minutes to get from one train to another. Is that enough time in the Malmö train station taking into account any border crossing logistics such as customs, ID checking, etc…
