Train connections & reservations

Hello all. I am trying to make a seat reservation on Great Western’s Night Rivera train for May 5th, but the website’s seat reservation functionality was removed. I tried messaging them on Facebook Messenger and was told to either book via some weird train staff page (I don’t work for a railway) or to call them. When I called them, I was told that I could just show up and board the train, but the Eurail website said that reservations are mandatory.Who is correct, and what should I do?

I'm just getting confused reading all the advice, and some people elsewhere saying reservations are compulsory (via PKP) even when the interrail app says theyre 'optional' or just 'recommended'. I want to just activate my day and add short trips today in the rail planner app as I city hop. Apologies for repeating questions, Im just confused, unfortunatelty the conductor here has no English to guide me. 

Does anyone know what this → “The Double Sleeper: Can only booked with a full fare price at the moment.” means on this page → https://www.interrail.eu/en/plan-your-trip/tips-and-tricks/trains-europe/night-trains/night-riviera-sleeper?  Does it mean that there is no concept of a pass holder fare for this trip any more?I’m aware that booking this used to involve ringing GWR (no web access) and convincing them that your Johnny Foreigner credit card and address are acceptable, but it is now not even an option at all?As it happens, the “full fare” which I can book directly online includes a super advance ticket which is only slightly more than the cost of an Interrail day, so it might be cheaper and simpler not to use my pass and just book a full ticket.  This seems a little bonkers to me.

Wie kan ons helpen? We proberen nu een rit te reserveren op 10 augustus van Narbonne (Frankrijk) naar Palencia (Spanje), waarbij we de overstap in Madrid wat ruimer willen maken dan de rechtstreekse verbinding. Het liefst nu omdat we dan niet de hoofdprijs hoeven te betalen en we dan nog plek hebben voor 4.Dus 10.36 vertrek in Narbonne ; Aankomst Madrid 16.18Vertrek Madrid 18.51; Aankomst Palencia 20.18Maar we krijgen hier de melding dat we pas 90 dagen voor 10 aug kunnen boeken, alternatief is raileurope maar daar moet je met een credit kaart betalen en die hebben we niet, of boeken bij de Spaanse spoorwegen en dan binnen 3 dagen ophalen op een Spaans station..We zien dus duidelijk iets over het hoofd, maar wat? Wie kan ons vertellen hoe het wel moet.

Hello all,With the new beta Global Plus Pass, if I and a friend were to get those, I understand that we would need to book reservations through the Interrail system to get the reservations that are included in the price.However, as you cannot choose seats while booking the reservations on this system, is there another way to reserve seats that are next to each other? (the passes would be on different accounts and phones)Or would it be simpler to just get a normal pass (especially while they are discounted) and reserve seats through RailEurope or directly through operator websites such as Eurostar and Ceske Drahy?Thank you for your time!Joe

Hi there, we are flying into London at 6am on the 25th of March and I want to catch a train to Edinburgh. I want to book them now - but I don’t know when I’ll be at kings cross to leave. Would you buy the 9:03 or 9:30am train? Plus how do I book the tickets (seat reservations) I can’t book on eurail- it won’t let me. What do I do? 

Do you know if there will be night trains between Narvik and Stockholm between June 20th and July 18th? Currently, when I check the sj.se website, there are no available trips for those dates. I haven't been able to find any information about planned track work or if tickets might go on sale later.  If you have any further information, I would be very grateful. Thank you very much !

Hello everyone, Travelling with my niece from Australia in June. We are going from Salzburg to Amsterdam (yes a long day).We both have 1st class global Eurail passes.  The trip is-  Salzburg (EC212) → Munich (ICE 918)→ Dusseldorf  (ICE124)→ Amsterdam . The Eurail seat reservation page suggests  seat reservations optional on first two stages but recommended  from Dusseldorf to Amsterdam. RailEurope suggests no reservations needed. With first class passes, should we get reservations on any or all stages of the trip or will Thursdays (19th June) be fine to just arrive and find a seat?Many thanksJon

How do I get a seat when it says not needed but I want to confirm section

Hi! I’ve just done my seat reservation for the train home from Paris to London. On the email I got it said to go onto the Eurostar website to get the actual reservation with my booking reference and last name. The issue I have is that I wasn’t given a booking reference. Does anyone know where I’d be able to find this or do I need to contact Interrail as the booking was made through them?  Thank you for any help! 

I've read a few times online and got told by a DB employee that you can't buy Spanish seat reservations at the DB anymore so here's a report for any future travellers:Before you reserve a train via the DB, you need to look up the connection at RENFE's website. If it's not reservable/findable there you can't reserve it via the DB. If it's fully booked the system at the DB will throw a "technical error" and sometimes it could also be thrown without any reason, you just need to try again a few days/weeks later. Newly added train routes and stations are also not instantly available, you need to wait.At least at a DB Reisezentrum it's still possible to reserve trains. Most employees will look up before how to buy a reservation but one employee was not motivated enough and just said it doesn't work and told me to try it online with the Interrail Booking System. I am trying to make a seat reservation for a train from Edinburgh to London using my Eurail Global pass. However, it gives me an error message that I am not able to make this seat reservation on the Eurail site and I need to either do this at a station or direct on the ACP Rail site. When I access site I then get a notice re the following, has anyone else experienced this issue? NoticeCurrently our site is only offering seat reservations for Passholders on UK trains.Sorry for the inconvenience. More services will be added soon.Buying a Seat Reservation in the UK does not always assure an assigned seat. Instead, it will guarantee an available seat on the train.

I don't seem to be able to reserve seats. The app is buffering forever . Or at one point there was a reservation in the basket/cart but then a message appeared that I could no longer buy it, the offer had expired 

Hi there,I’m travelling with my family from Avignon to Lille on 28th August.We have to catch the Eurostar to London at 16.35. Do you think the 10.39 from Avignon is a good bet? It’s a Ouigo train (I’ve not been on one before, I know it’s not inc in the interrail ticket, we’re on single tickets).  I’ve read there is an issue if the Ouigo train is delayed and you miss your Eurostar connection then they don’t get you on the next train etc. Are they often delayed or generally good? There don’t seem to be many direct trains from Avignon to Lille (we’re actually staying in Maussane Les Alpilles). Thanks for any help. 

On Wednesday, sncf will publish their trains for the summer. Can I book on Interrail as well? Or is there a time lag? And is it true that Interrail only has a limited number of seats? Thanks :)

Hello, I am trying to book seats through Interrail, but unfortunately the website is not working or keeps showing errors. My trip will be long with many transfers, so I wanted to book using Interrail, but it is not possible. Does anyone know what to do in this situation? I am a little anxious about it because I planned to visit three countries and now the Interrail reservations are not working. Thank you in advance for any help. 

I would like to make a reservation for the London Paddington to Penzance route, as described here: https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm#how-to-make-reservations-in-britain. When I select ‘Make a reservation’, the mentioned pop-up with ‘Next’ appears for a fraction of a second, immediately followed by an error message. I have tested this on several browsers and also on mobile devices, and the result is the same everywhere. My pass has not yet been activated, but I don't think that should be the cause of the problem. How can I make my reservation? Any help would be appreciated.A few screenshots from a short screen video. The whole thing happens at top speed, with no chance of catching the Next button. 

I booked a Eurostar Plus seat reservation from Amsterdam => London => Amsterdam this coming weekend (outbound 13/3, return 15/5) with my 1st class Interrail pass. The return leg was cancelled without letting me know. Has anyone else experienced the same?Last night I checked in the Eurostar app and the return leg said “Cancelled”. I received no email or or SMS. No explanation. Nothing about a refund. On the Eurostar website (not the app) the return part of the journey has just disappeared. On the B-Europe site (where I booked it) the return part has disappeared without any mention.The train I booked on is still running. I can see it on the Eurostar website. A single 2nd class ticket is €198.On the B-Europe site I paid €45 for each direction. It now shows that it costs €67. There is no mention of a refund.I’ve had to book the night ferry for €150 (plus train on the NL side because it’s another day of travel) because I need to travel on that date.Anyone else experience the same?

We are planning a trip in May and want to book tickets from Krakow to Bratislava. The interail application does not seem to allow this. Is it because it is too far in advance or should we be using a different site

Hi, does anyone know how to actually reserve train seats on the train websites, not the Interrail/Eurail site? I’ve seen a few people say to do this, especially with night trains or when the seat reservation isn't available yet on the Interrail site. However, whenever I try to do this on the actual site, like Railjet, it says I need to book a ticket as well and doesn't give me the option to enter my rail pass and then pay for the seat.  Help anyone who's a 1st-time Interrail user?? Thank you!
