Train connections & reservations

Help! I need 17 seats on a high-speed train to Florence from Rome. I was able to add 9 people to the reservation, but the site will not let me add the other 8. What can I do? 

I have a global pass and want to travel fromParis to Zurich.I  have a reservation from Paris Gare Lyon to Basel SBB. But no reservation from Basel to Zurich.Can  I use the pass to take the next train to Zurich

I think that the trip from Bucharest to Istanbul in May should count as one interrail day as there is a through sleeper from Dimitrovgrad to Halkali. My problem is that the Interrail app is coming up as two separate journeys on two separate days:Dimitrovdrad - Kapikule 22.50-00.45 on SaturdayKapikule - Halkali 2.30-6.34 on SundayHow do I avoid using two days of my 5 day pass?Thanks

Looking to travel from Bordeaux over to Spain to explore the Basque Country, San Sebastián and Bilbao would be ideal. However the trains don’t look the best, says it’ll be 26 hours of travelling which feels a bit much. is there anything we are missing or is that just the way it is? Cheers!,fraser 

There have been a number of questions recently about upcoming track work in Sweden and people (including me) have said to check out the sj.se site for information on scheduled works.However, when I look at the page it talks of diversions and changes to schedules in April (last month) all the way back to February.  I don’t see much for for May and nothing for June.Is anyone aware of any more recent or up to date information?

Hi! My Friends and I are traveling to Greece for the summer and we wanted to buy the interrail Greece pass (not the island one) in order to discover continental Greece. However, when I use the interrail app to check the timetables of the trains from Athens to Thessaloniki and vice versa, it says that those trains are not available. What could be happening? It is going to be possible to travel Greece by train this summer? I know that last summer was not possible because some railway stuff... Anyways, thank you so much!

i need step by step instructions on how to book and pay for a reservation using the eurail app. I was able to create my trip but it requires a reservation and I cannot figure out how to do it.

Hi! I'm trying to book seats but is impossible in the eurail website. Do you know if I can book the seats anywhere else? I want to reserve seats from Brasov to Budapest.From Wien to Berlin.From Amsterdam to Paris.From Paris to Milano.And from Milano to Venezia. In August.Thanks a lot!

My last eurail pass was in 1983!  I’ve found EC52 direct from Milano to Spiez on July 10 at 11:20 in the Rail Planner app.  When I go to book a reservation using the website, the direct train to Spiez doesn’t appear. The route when using the website reservation system has me changing in DOMODOSSOLA and again in Brig.   My question is if I can just get the reservation from Milano to Domodossola on EC52, and then stay on that direct train without a reservation on to Spiez.  Thanks so much, Tom

Hi everyone, I want to book a nighttrain between Stockholm and Hamburg. According to the Interrail’s planner, it should be possible (from 39€) but after buying my pass, it seems that there is no day where it is available (always “Seat reservations required from NA”). I try on sj.se too but even when there are some place available, there is no discount with the Interrail pass. Does anyone know how it is possible to book these trains (my pass is useless otherwise) ?  Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, I am helping 2 friends, who are 1st time Eurailers, with the ‘benefit’ of my experience of 4 years ago.😬 They are travelling from Italy-France-Italy in June. They have the first trip sorted (La Spezia to Como San Giovanni), but we're having problems with seat reservations from Como SG to Lyon on 16 June. We can book the 1st leg from Como SG (dep 0904) to Basel (arr 1256) or Como SG (dep 0950) to Zurich (arr 1227), but not onward to Lyon. This is using OBB website, following instructions from other topics.RailPlanner app says that 0904 trip from Como SG needs a seat reservation from Como-Basel and Mulhouse (dep 1357) to Lyon (arr 1656). The 0950 trip from Como SG needs seat reservations from Como SG-Zurich, Zurich-Dijon and Dijon-Lyon.Even if I break down the sectors, as other posters have suggested, OBB says ‘no ticket available’ for both options (only Basel-Mulhouse-Lyon shown below).Basel-MulhouseMulhouse-LyonWhat are we doing wrong, or is it too soon to make this booki

Hey everyone! I am looking at book an interrail pass for Switzerland travel, but I’m not really sure if its worth buying first class or not. There is quite a difference in price so I’m wondering if this is significant?From what I can see, the majority of posts are regarding space allowance but if its just for travel in Switzerland does this really matter?I am travelling with my boyfriend so I guess I wont be able to sit with him either?Is there any benefit price wise with reservation fees when you book first class? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, Myself and my boyfriend are travelling to Switzerland from Ireland at the end of this month and I was trying to work out travel for our journey.We are staying in Grindelwald one night but are going to do paragliding in Interlaken the day after.I cant find any information on travel from Grindelwald to Interlaken or return with this pass.Does anyone know how I complete this journey or if there's a supplement I can buy with the interrailing pass?

Hey Everyone,I am trying to book the night train from Krakow to Prague and it leaves at 22:42 and arrives at 7:31 the next day. After checking on polrail, it seems that the train does not actually switch, and that you end up staying in the same car, but it changes operators and switches tracks in Bohumin. The app views this as a switching connection, and as such, it’s requiring me to spend 2 travel days despite it not actually switching. I would think since it’s technically a single train, it shouldn’t count as multiple days.Do I actually need to activate the second half of the trip as long as I get the reservation via polrail and flip the initial switch in the app for Krakow - Bohumin? Is there a way to do this without the app using 2 travel days?

HiI’m trying to book a couple of Nightjet trains using a pass on OBB’s website.The system is not showing single cabins as available, but showing places in double cabins.The strange part is when I change the search to 2 passengers the same places in 2 berth compartments show. It’ll let me book them and go through to the credit card page. Question is will these be allocated in the same cabin? Thank you!

Good morning.I am looking to book a train from London to Paris (26th of May) and Paris - London (3rd of June).Both dates are showing message “no matching connection”. If I look at other days I can see times and trains (even if they are fully booked it still shows). Has anyone else experiencing same problem? Is that kind of error? Thank you in advance Kamila 

We are booking reservations from Brussels to Paris.  Usually the reservations cost $10-15 each.  When I try to make the reservations it cost $32.50 each.  Also I tried b-europe.com and it is $27 each.  Does anyone know why it is such a price difference and cost more than normal?Also, I saw the regular price cost is is only around $43.  So the savings isn’t much with the Rail pass.   Any thoughts would br greatly appreciated. 

I purchased my pass om Apr 12, 2023 and want to activate it in order to make Seat Reservations in advanced. My first train ride will be on July 25, 2023. Can I activate it now…?

We are family of 6 (2 adults + 4 children). When I was trying to do seat reservation for 6 people, it was not allowing therefore I did 2 separate reservations for 3 each.Issue now is that the seats assigned are in 2 different carts (voiture). How can I change it.Paris - Bassel (SNCF)Zurich - Milano (Trenitalia)

We want to book a train from napoli to catania, but when we try this the interrail website says we first have to go from Napoli to Florence and then to Catania. This only takes a lot of time while there is also a direct train from Napoli to Catania on the website of Trenitalia. Does someone know what is wrong? And if we even need a seat reservation for this train?

Hi,I wish to make a reservation for the train Wien (24/06/23, 7.42pm) ➩ Bucarest (25/06/23, 3.05pm). I have a 2nd class pass. I wish to make a reservation for a single bed (I saw on the website of the train company that it was possible). Yet this option does not appear. Is it because it is an option not available for eurail ? Is it because it is available for 1st class pass ? If so, how can I change my pass from 2nd class to 1st class ? I did not made any reservation yet so I guess it could be possible ?Thank you very much,Amélie

Hi,I am wondering if a connecting train after a sleeper train still counts for a single travel day. I wanted to take a direct sleeper from Amsterdam to Zurich, but there were none available on my travel date, so I’m taking a sleeper from Amsterdam to Basel and then a train from Basel to Zurich. Does that count as one travel day?Thanks,Katie

Hi guys. I'm currently planning my trip in August and I'm looking for the right train between Berlin and Prague. I found that the two cities are connected by EuroCity trains, but no reservation is required on the app, even though I read that seat reservations on EuroCity are compulsory. Is that alright or is it a bug of the RailPlanner app?
