Train connections & reservations

Hi!In August I'm going to make my second interrail journey, and this year I've purchased a first class pass. Now I've started with making some reservations, if they are available. In the ÖBB app, first class reservations were for free on some trains, while second class reservations had a €3 fee. How come first class is free actually?Those free reservations were for the Raljet 67 Wien-Budapest and IC 210 Zagreb-Ljubljana. I have the reservations as PDF ticket.

We want to go from Hamburg to Amsterdam on 18-Jun-2023. When searched on the eurail reservationsfound the below option (with one change) found  a train After choosing the seat reservations -got the below screenwhen I tried to add checkout, it get stuck at the ‘add traveller’ details. Nothing happens when I click on it. It has been the case from the begining. I tried to create a new trip with only 3 travellers (thought the issue was with 7 travellers), but still it get stuck.  Thanks in advance for your help. 

We bought a 7 day eurail global pass. We are a group of  7 people (with luggage) traveling together. Below are the trains we are trying to book. Not able to do the seat reservation.  can you please help what is the best. Hi, I’ve recently bought the global pass for 4 days in 1 month and am planning to go from London to Paris in mid May in a group of 2. We have bought the global passes and bought the seat reservations for our dates that we need from London to Paris and Paris to London through the interrail website. We got the Eurostar train and the tickets have been sent to us via email. What im confused about is that these Eurostar tickets are individual tickets on their own and not linked to the pass? So what exactly is the procedure with both the pass and the ticket? Am i supposed to activate the pass before travelling and when I board the train, I simply need to use just the Eurostar ticket Ive gotten? There doesnt seem to be any link between the ticket and pass I’ve bought. Clarification on the travelling procedure would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hey!I am trying to reserve a seat from Amsterdam - Paris (Train: Thalys) for Sunday but it shows it to be “train fully booked” on the eurail website and whenever I try to use the interrail pass. However, on the apps like SNCB and SNCF I am still able to buy tickets for the same journey. Is this possible?

We have 8 1st class global pass (4 adults, 1 senior, 3 children aged 6, 9, 10) going from Zurich to Milano on 7 June 2023 8.33am direct with Eurocity. Please Can anyone enlighten me the difference in all the classes - famiglia, Prima, silenzio, business, seconda? Advice which one would be best for 3hr train ride would be helpful. I tried googling but can’t find any answer. Thank you 

Hi,  I need help to make a reservation on Eurail App. I have purchased the Aurail Pass (France) for me to travel from CDG Airport to Strasbourg on 18th April. I have added the trip on My Pass in Eurail but i am struggling to reserved the seat and quite nervous that i can’t board the train on 18th April 8:50am.I was trying on reservation but it show me on below message and i cant call thru the said number :  Can anyone please assist and guide me on this ?  Thank you in advanced. 

Hi everyone, We are visiting Europe from Canada in June and July 2023. I am booking each part of our journey. So far I’ve reserved seats on the following routes: Barcelona to Paris, Paris to London and London to Brussels. All these routes require a reservation. However, when I try to reserve from Brussels to Amsterdam, no reservations are required so I cannot book anything. I read on another post that this segment has to be added as a journey through the app, but the app is very confusing. I haven’t activated the pass because I read it’s better to do it closer to my trip in case plans change, so when I click on “My Pass” in the app, I can see the pass for each member of my family, but when I click on “My Trip”, it only asks me to create a trip but I cannot see the one I created on my laptop, where I’ve been reserving seats. Am I supposed to activate my passes so that I can see the trip I’ve been working on in my laptop, or will I have to create a new, separate trip on the app? What hap

Hello Eurail community!  I hope someone is able to help me as I'm really struggling to get the seat reservations I need and now I'm running really behind. My friend and I leave on April 29, 2023, we've purchased the eurail global pass 5days in one mo And need seat reservations from Amsterdam to brussels on May 3rd from Brussels to Paris on May 4th and from Paris to London May 7th. I'm open to departure times  But my goal is to arrive in the next city around 10 AM ish.  When I put the route in on the Eurail app at 1st it gives me the option to book the train reservation but then it quickly turns to say that seat reservations are not available, Which From what I understand is said to mean that reservations for that train are sold out but when I look on the Thalys Website (brussels-paris trains) it shows that there are still train tickets  available for multiple times But it doesn't appear that I  Can book seat reservations on Thalys only the whole ticket... Also why is there More options

I had to postpone an overnight sleeper reservation yesterday as my wife sprained her foot. Bought another reservation for today and was unable to get a refund at Bucharest station where I bought both passes. Is it possible to get a refund? Reservations cost c €80. Many thanks. 

Hi! I would like to make a seat reservation from Strasbourg to Lille Europe or Lille Flandres. When I want to click the button to add them, it doesn’t work. I looked already to the SNCF website and there they have still tickets. But I don’t want to pay the expensive tickets.Is there someone who wants to help me?Thank you!

Hi, eight of us have 1st class global pass for 5 days in a month. I couldn’t find train from Paris to Zermatt for 30 May 2023 12pm so I reserved Paris Lyon to Mulhouse. Now how do I get from Mulhouse to Zermatt? When it says “no reservation required” do I still need to buy a ticket to board the next train or just board with the eurail mobile pass? I have children with me, will we be separated if I don’t reserve seats? Appreciate the help. Tq. 

Hi allWe were due to travel today with reserved seats first class but we can't travel due to my partner doing her back in. We are getting some drugs and staying in bari another night. Hopefully she can travel tomorrow. I have looked for us to catch a train tomorrow to  Rome but seems no seats available to book. What can we do? Ideally we want to get to rome by tomorrow evening to pick up the night train to Munich we have booked at 8pm.  Any advice appreciated, thanks  

HiAre these trains (either Berlin or Hamburg) running in early October 2023?I know it’s early in terms of booking but I see on weeks earlier timetables that the SJ346 has potential line closures around the dates I want to book although the snalltaget 300 train doesn’t appear to be so affected?Any ideas on when the timetable for these trains for the 1st week in October 2023 should appear?Appreciate any thoughts / advice.

Hello!I am a first time Eurail user and finding it a bit confusing to understand. My partner and I have Eurail global passes. We are needing to travel from San Sebastian/Donastia to Madrid on 4 June 2023. I am still confused about what trains are included in the pass.Eurail says it includes Alvia trains. I understand that Eurail does not have the most accurate schedules on the website/app. Rail Europe shows a train on this day departing San Sebastián/Donostia at 8:50am and arriving to Madrid-Chamartin at 1:56pm. This train does not show on the Eurail planning app or website. Can someone please confirm:Will we be able to take this train using our Eurail pass?Is it correct that we cannot make our seat reservation until we are in Spain and do so in person at the ticket desk? Thank you in advance!  

We have a 2 month first class pass and are heading to Norway today. I have booked reservations for long distance trains. It's a faff to book reservations on Norwegian trains because you can't just do it online.On seat 61 it says that reservations are needed on "long distance trains" which implies they are not needed on all trains.  My question is, is there an easy way to know if we need a reservation for a particular train? Is the interrail app accurate in this respect? I've just added a journey from Oslo Airport to the main station and there is no flag on the app saying that a reservation is needed but I'm not sure whether to trust that or not. And another related question - can we book "SJ NORD premium" seats with our 1st class pass? Are they included?  Many thanks!

How can I book seat reservations on a train from Barcelona to Malaga from overseas ? Is it possible on the Renfe website ? Or is it only possible at a desk in a Spanish station ? 

Hi,We are from Amsterdam and want to catch a nighttrain (we already booked) that leaves at 17:09 from Munchen at the 23rd of april. Interrail says it is not required but recommended to book seat reservations on the trajectory from Amsterdam to Munchen. When try to book this trajectory, it shows that it cannot be booked anymore.  Based on the other articles in this community, I tried to book via the OBB website. But when I try to pay, it also says: (I tried to book from Amsterdam to Frankfurt here, but when I try to book from Amsterdam to Munchen it shows the same).  Do you know if there is a big chance we can still enter this train by just showing up or do you have any other recommendations? Unfortunately, there are no earlier trains available and this is the last option to be able to catch the nighttrain.

Hi, I made 2 seat reservations before actually activating my interrail pass. So far I haven't had any email or bank billing confirmations of these reservations. Is it possible  ? Or has the bank payment not gone through ? Do I need to tie in the pass to the reservations but where are they ? Thanks 

Due to a potential change in circumstances, one of us may need to book and cancel (or not cancel, hopefully) a sleeper from Stockholm to Narvik in June.I can’t find the terms and conditions online, but it looks like the Interrail fares are refundable.I had to cancel and rebook an SJ fare from Copenhagen to Stockholm a few weeks back and out of an original charge of SEK286 I got SEK133 back, so I know there should be some refund.  I just don’t know quite how much can be expected.Does anyone know what the calculation basis is for the refund?  133/286 isn’t a ratio I recognise - it’s about 46.5%.I will try to contact them tomorrow to find out, but if anyone knows it would help.Thanks,David 

Hi! I booked my train from Zurich to Zagreb today with a stop in Schwarzach and the officer in the train told me the second part of travel is not possible due to a tunnel maintenance starting today. Can you confirm and is there another option? 🥺 thanks a lot!

Hello all! My current itinerary includes a train from Montpellier to Barcelona, with a stop in Perpignan, France. The transfer time is listed as ‘short’ and we only have 6 minutes to transfer trains. Making this short transfer would save us $40, so we are hopeful that we can make it. Traveling with a group of 4 young women and just want to ask for reviews about the Perpignan station. Hello All,I made a mistake when I booked my reservations. Somehow, I did check the reservation date that I am booking. It turns out I booked my return trip and depart trip on the same day. And the worst part is, it does not seem I could make any changes to the website.Could I board the train on next day? Or should I rebook it (Is that possible to get any refund)?
