Train connections & reservations

I booked through the Eurail app and was assigned a random seat in first class. I wrote to SNFC on Facebook and they told me that I have to return it and buy another one but when I do that I get another random seat again.Is there no chance in first class to choose the seat?

If you have a 1st Class Eurail Pass (7 days in 1 month), are others literally reserving your seat on travel days (the unreserved seat you are occupying) in which this app says "No reservation required"?  E.g. Prague to Vienna today, it seemed as though this was happening all around us.  We got lucky, I think!  

Hi AllOk, I *think* I might be starting to understand how this works.I have a 7 day pass.I go and search for the trip on Rail Planner in the Planning section.Add the trip to My Trip, which adds it to a travel day.Then if it says “a seat reservation is required” for part of the trip, I go to wherever the country rail is and book a seat reservation (in this case LNER).But I don’t need a ticket for the rest of the interconnecting trains if they dont need a reservation because it’s covered under the Eurail day of travel and the train companies don’t think you need to book a specific ticket?Is that right? & how do we continue 1st class on the other legs of the journey if we don't have a seat reservation please?

Hey everyone, I am trying to book a reservation for the Eurostar from Paris to London on the 14th of January (it absolutely needs to be this date), but the Interrail reservations tools just tells me that there are no schedules available yet. I have been checking the website for a couple week, but they have not been updated yet. On the actual Eurostar page, however, the train times are already available. I am somewhat concerned about getting a reservation, as the Interrail website advises you to book the Eurostar about six months in advance. Can someone tell me when the schedules will be up? I would be very grateful for help!  Eva 

Hey, i am starting my first interrail soon and have a question bc Im afraid to do something wrong and having problems since i travel alone. I need to activate my Pass before 10th of April, so before I forget i really wanna Do it now..but:My first travel date is 18th of April.I will fly to spain on 13th, stay in one city for some days, and start my travel with train then on 18th. Since i read that I can only book Reservation IN spain and Reservation is mandatory: What if I connect a train now (i need to add a train i will take right?) and when Im in spain the seats are not available anymore for this train? I would rather activate my pass right before my travel as adviced but since my travel date is after the day where I need to activate its not possible. Also second question, what if for any reason I can not  take the train on 18th I have chosen? Is it true I then can not use my whole pass anymore? So is this first train fixed??  Thank you so much for your helpJohanna

Hi, I'm planning to travel on the EC9 from Muenster to Zuerich on april 9, leaving at 9.03 and arriving at 17.00. The Rail Planner app says I need to change in Basel Bad BF to (the same?) EC9. When I look at this train in the Deutsche Bahn app it says it's a direct connection. I'm confused whether I need to make a transfer to the same or another train, can anyone help me? Kind regards, Henk-Jan

Hi, we are in Australia, travelling to Europe in 2 weeks. We have booked all our trains. We have been struggling with booking ‘seat reservations’ on the appropriate trains. A travel agent has now said that we cannot do that from here, and needs to be done when we get to each station. Is this correct? We have the travel train tickets on our Eurail passes, does this guarantee out travel, irrespective of the seat reservation? Thanks again. 

Hi everyone, I have booked seat reservations on eurail.com for my 1st class pass and as stated here (https://www.interrail.eu/en/plan-your-trip/reservations/trains-with-additional-supplements ) I was expecting supplement fee to be included as my reservation costed me 17 EUR per person. Unfortunately I don’t see anything regarding supplement in my PDF confirmation and now support told me, there is no supplement included and that I should buy one. The reservation itself doesn’t cost 17 EUR, so I don’t get it. Anybody has the same experience? Did you have problems with conductor at the train?Thanks,Jacob

As from today it is possible to make Interrail/Eurail reservations for both seats, beds in sleeper and chouchette on the SJ Euronight between Stockholm and Hamburg Altona. For dates after the 10th of December, reservations can only be made at sj.se .According to the information I have reservations will not be possible through ÖBB as there are problems with the communication between the ÖBB and SJ reservation systems.

Hello, I don’t know how to make use or how to reserve boat trips with my eurail pass, any help??

Hi, I can see on DB website an overnight train (and when I click on further details it says EuroNight) from Prague to Frankfurt (18:26h EN40458), however when I proceed to book a seat, it doesn’t offer me the option to book a couchette, only the 4,50€ option for a seat. Do I have to book the couchette offline on the day or how does it work?Thank you! 

How do I use my eurail global pass for making reservations on European trains ( spain Italy)

Hallo, kann ich eine Sitzplatzreservierung umgehen indem ich im Zug stehe. Von Bologna nach Florenz für eine halbe Stunde 12 Euro mit Global Pass  

Whenever I try to make a reservation I’m able to add it to my bag, but when I go to buy it, it says it is no longer available. Then when I search again for a different ticket, the journey appears to be available again!What’s going on?

Hi! I have bought my Eurail Pass, added my Bologna to Riomaggiore trip, and paid for the one fast train service from Bologna to Florence.  What I’m confused about is there are 3 other trains: Florence to Pisa, Pisa to La Spezia, and La Spezia to Riomaggiore.  These three trains don’t need seat reservations.  Do I need to buy tickets for these trains or does my pass QR work for them? I can see them all listed under the pass ticket but I didn’t want to run into any issues on board. 

I had a seat reservation in Eurail, from central Amsterdam to Berlin hbf, the train to Amsterdam was cancelled and we could not take that train. Can the seat reservation be returned?

We are hoping to catch a bus on the above route ( no trains) on 13 April. Entur can’t help and referee us to the website Nordland Reis. I can see there is a bus but I can’t book a ticket from the site. Would appreciate any advices . Thanks

Hi, where can I find the seatmap for night trains to Palermo .. I made the Reservat for couchette comfort 4 people but not sure how the seats are distributed.. 

Hi. My boyfriend and I will be traveling in Spain in the month of June. We bought non-refundable Eurrail passes before we realized we can’t reserve Renfe seats online. Do you think we will have a problem booking trains in person when we arrive in Spain? We will need Barcelona=>Valencia four days after we arrive, so the earliest we can physically go to the station to buy tickets is four days in advance. We are also going to need Malaga=>Seville and Seville=>Madrid, and those will be about a week and a half/two weeks later. Can we buy all the tickets in person in Barcelona? And do you think we will still be able to get the tickets on short notice? Thank you so much in advance!

Hello,We want to make a chairreservation for 2 adults with interrail tickets first class on 29-07-2023 time 11.12 for the gotthard panoramaexpress (boat and train) direction Lucerne to Lugano. The train only chairreservation and the boat (lucerne-fluelen) with 50% discount. Do we need to book this separate? How can we book this correctly.  

Hey, ÖBB is sending to Newsletter readers that have a ÖBB Account an email with a coupon with 4 reservations for free for trains with optional reservation of ÖBB. The coupon is automatically linked with your ÖBB account. I tried now to book also DB trains, and it works (I tried till to the “paying” site). I don’t know if everybody with ÖBB account gets this or only people which have also the newsletter. This free reservation works only for trains with optional reservation system, and in the text it says only ÖBB trains. You have to book a reservation till 11th of September to use this free reservations. 

Im trying to book a night train from Madrid to Paris and also another from Berlin to Venice but can't figure out how to search for them or anything. I've been scratching my head all day. The websites keep me going in circles. Please help!

Hi everyone,I want to travel from Berlin to Bath(in the UK).I know that if I were to book over Deutsche Bahn this trip takes about 10 hours, especially because part of the trip is to go directly from Berlin to Cologne with an ICE (fast train).With the Rail planner it's ca. 15 to 18 hours, because it only proposes slow trains for basically the same trajectory. Is there a way to put together a route of my choice with the specific trains of my choice and still just only use one travel day of my pass, if yes, how would I do that? I'd still have to take 3 different trains with the quicker connection. But I don't know how to book this as one connection.I have the Interrail Global pass - flexi pass 4 days within one month.I'd be super thankful for any advice!!
