Sicily / Switzerland

Hi

Me and my wife are planning to  travel  from Denmark to Sicily next May . We would like to go via Switzerland and take some of the nice trips there , regular trains.

I would like if i can get some advice about  nigthtrains from Hamburg to Basel , trips to take in Switzerland and suggestions how to get from there to Sicily , ferry etc. And off course nice places to visit we have time enough.

Here is some good information about the night train from Hamburg

From Switzerland you need to get to Milan. You can take the direct route, but if you want the scenic tour, I suggest the Bernina Pass

There’s a direct night train from Milan to Sicily, which travels on the boat across the Messina Strait. Although of course you can take day trains too, if you plan to stop off  in Italy. There’s also a night train from Rome.

Trainline cannot book pass reservations so just forget about them. Seat61 doesn't recommend them for pass reservations:

https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

For the night train Zurich - Hamburg, use tickets.oebb.at, see instructions on the page above. A sleeper compartment for 2 persons is currently available for €309.80 as a pass reservation on that date. (Price without passes is currently from €449.80).
