Due to a major rail accident near Urda, Toledo, all high-speed trains on the Madrid–Andalusia line are currently suspended. The suspension affects all services on the line, including trains from Madrid to Ciudad Real, Cordoba, Sevilla and beyond.

Renfe is offering free changes and cancellations for affected journeys. If you’re travelling with Iryo, please check iryo’s website for updates on your booking.

Before you head to the station, we recommend checking the latest updates from:

Hi Lara, thanks for sharing.
Do you (or anyone else reading this thread) have any updates on travel within the region?
I'm heading back from Morocco tomorrow, and was originally planning to take the 'train' from Algeciras to Antequera Santa-Ana, then from there to Barcelona - unfortunately I have a tight schedule of getting back to Berlin, so any ideas/tips or updates on how to get back on Saturday 31 Oct would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Craig

If you had booked your trains in advance, then the operator is obliged to assist you with alternative travel via train or other means of transport. They have to inform you about that no later then 100 minutes after your booked departure time.

If they don't inform you, then you can organise it yourself (no planes though) and get a reimbursement  of your extra costs here:

If you want advice, then it would help if you could mention which exact trains you booked and from what time you are able to leave Algeciras.

Renfe seems to have an alternative service between Ciudad Real/Puertollano and Madrid, only posted on the Spanish website. Here's the info for tomorrow (30/10):

They seem to be incapable of including that in their booking module though.

@Interrail Community Moderator Since nothing seems to be available on several routes over the next days, information is missing about what people should do when their train is cancelled and they don't want to wait for a week or longer.
